Oakwood Annapolis is the very worst hospital I have ever encountered anywhere or even heard experiences of. The second worst is all the other Oakwood locations. They did not monitor patient in the ER for hours at a time behind the curtain, both staff and doctors on the whole are incompetent, nurse was passive aggressive and nonresponsive to the screaming of the patient who you could hear 100 feet away down the hall due to excessive potassium in the IV causing the supporting family to have to call the patient advocate in the hospital who agreed the behavior was not right but did not seem empowered to change the Oakwood culture, I know of one person who died in Oakwood Dearborn due to their serious screwups. Over the last few months I have received several mailings from the Oakwood system, including the Annapolis, Canton, and Dearborn locations, very pathetic marketing attempts to get people to go there. When you think about it, why would a good hospital have to advertise like that? Mass mailings, it must be quite expensive. They even do large billboards. They are cutthroat to get the money of those who are in the most dire straits to putting them in bankruptcy, and then spend that money on those things. As with most doctors, nurses, staffs, and hospitals, they exist for money, but these JOakers make it extremely obvious with their greed, and they do not even deserve a fraction of their pay. I think the right thing to do is to spread the word to all friends, family, and random strangers that Oakwood in Southeast MI should be avoided at all costs. It would be better to chose another organization at random for the most important thing in life, which is your life.

Havent really had problems with the hospital itself, although my sister has, but Ive been trying to get medical records from one of my visits and the medical record department is very busy I understand but its impossible to get in contact with them, I dont blame the workers, I blame the hospital cause they need to hire more people in the department. Every time I call it goes to voicemail. I tried calling the front desk a few times and each time the person I spoke to was very rude. The most recent person I spoke to didnt even let me finish talking and said "Ok Ill transfer you to medical records and they can help you with that" and didnt even pause a second before they transferred me. I called right back and told her that I didnt need to be transferred and that I just needed to know what part of the building to go to to get my records. She said she didnt know the answer and that is why she transferred me, and she kept interrupting me when I would try to talk, very rude! I ended up getting in contact with the medical records department, and they told me that I could just go to any entrance and the receptionist would take me to medical records. How would the main number not know that? They need nicer staff here, I couldnt imagine being someone very sick and having to deal with these people. The medical records department staff was nice, and also agreed that the front staff is very difficult, and thats the only good thing I have to say.

This hospital will never be my first choice to go to in an emergency. I only went here because it was the closest hospital and I was in severe abdominal pain. First off, I seen a roach crawling in the waiting room by the vending machines. I admit they took me back fairly quick. I ended up being at the hospital for 7-hrs. In all that time, I only spoke to the doctor for 5-minutes when I got there and a different doctor for a few minutes just before I was discharged. They gave me medicine for my pain. When I told them an hour later that I still had severe pain, they treated me like I was a drug addict; explaining how I was given the strongest pain medication they have. The nurse asked me what type of pain medicine did I want or need. Who asks a patient this type of question? I explained that Im not a pharmacist and had never been in this type of pain before. I had no clue. Another hour later, they gave me more medicine. I also had to have an ultrasound which required me to have a full bladder. They said I just had to wait until I had to go; no fluids were given other than the IV. The nurse would not increase the fluid output. All in all, they found nothing. The doctor gave no possible explanation for my pain and just said it could be a million different reasons. I was just sent home with a script for pain medicine. I will never come here again.

We received great service throughout my fathers surgery experience; From the preop calls to the discharge. The nurses and staff members were friendly and accommodating to our needs. The preop staff were thorough in prepping my father before his surgery. Although There was a 2 hr delay before they took my father in for his surgery, he was comfortable and the nurses assured us that everything was okay...my daughter and I were able to stay with him up until they took him for surgery...in the spacious waiting room area, the chairs are comfortable and the staff member at the desk made a point to gather detailed information from the recovery nurse about my fathers status when asked. My father was admitted for one night on the 3rd floor. The RNs( thx Chelsea and Andrea), nurses aides ( Jen and Amber) and NP were friendly, caring and personable. When I told them that Id like to stay overnight with my father, without hesitation, they moved us to a private room and made sure I had a reclining chair for comfort. Everyone who came into the room, asked if they could get us anything. All in all, my father and I are very pleased with the exceptional service at Beaumont Wayne.

I went in over the weekend with serve pain. The experience was awful, I only seen the doctor for about 3 minutes out of my 6 hour wait. I tell them I didnt want pain medication and yet they gave me morphine. I go in to be seen as a patient not a drug addict. They send me down for a CT scan and without being seen the nurse came in with discharge papers, thats when my husband got upset and spoke up to have the doctor come in to tell me what was wrong. He finally came in and said that there could be alot of different reasons for the pain the the CT scan didnt show and that I would need a mri but said that they didnt perform mri there. And then they handed me a script of pain medication, again I want to know what is wrong with me. Not to just be treated like Im a drug addict. So I went to my primary and they ordered an ultrasound and lab work, turns out I have a liver problem, which by the way also showed in the CT scan that the hospital did and I was not told about. I will never come back to this hospital and I will never send anyone i know and care about here. They need to get a better staff on board.
