I live in Southern CA and come to the area often to visit family. A year ago my dog ended up with horrible gastroenteritis and I subsequently took her to Sierra. I was so impressed by the professionalism and care that my dog and I received. Dr. Schnieder was very hands-on and attentive, as was the staff. Since I lived in the area before, I was familiar with another vet hospital that rarely met my expectations on price and/or service. I was so thankful to have found Sierra and Dr. Schnieder. Upon another recent visit, my dog ulcerated her eye. I again took her to Sierra and Dr. Schnieder and received the same exemplary care I received before. Vet expenses where I live can reach astronomical proportions. It was a nice change of pace to see a reasonable bill that was in relation to the treatment received. I felt very much a part of deciding the course of treatment for my dog, and Dr. Schnieder always informed me of my options. I am happy to say that my dog has two vets - one in Southern California and Sierra Veterinary Hospital too!

I had to bring in one of our dogs on a Saturday for a possible UTI. Sierra was not only open on Saturdays (BIG PLUS), but they have a beautiful facility that is well staffed. Their waiting room is very spacious with two sides (one for check-in, one for check-out) which is great to have with a dog that isnt always so friendly with other canines. The exam rooms were also very spacious, clean and uncluttered. Everyone from the gal who answered the phone when I called to schedule an appt, to the overall experience in office was well worth five stars! I will definitely be changing vets and bringing our four-legged kids here from now on. Another bonus, no wait time on my first visit! LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Dr. Hope is amazing. We bought a puppy from a pet shop and he was very sick. The whole staff worked so well with us and broke down all charges for us BEFORE any procedures were done and really let us navigate the way we wanted to treat our newest addition. We have also boarded our two dogs with them and once again amazing. They even separated our dogs at night so our oldest could a break from the puppy and get some sleep for no extra charge. All the ladies in the office, the techs and the doctors are so friendly and personable. Wouldnt trust my fur babies with anyone else. You can tell they are all animal lovers at this Veterinary hospital.

I agree that SVH is a bit pricey, but in fairness, what vet or any doctor for that matter isnt? I have had fantastic experience with them, under of course never fun circumstances - you dont visit a vet for the fun of it, but I find their staff very helpful and caring. Im a terrible mess when it comes to my pets health, and they have always been sensitive, not in a rush, and patient to explain things to someone who is not versed in doggie anatomy and issues. The cost is worth it, I doubt its much cheaper anywhere else and much less likely to get the personal touch.

I have been bringing my pets here for 13 years. They are a bit on the pricey side, but not much more than the other vet offices in the area. They are also more than willing to work with you about how much you can afford to properly take care of your pets. When I brought my dog in to be put down the staff was nothing less than caring and professional. They gave me all the time and comfort I needed. After the fact I recieved a card in the mail giving even more support. I would never advise anyone to go to another office in town.

Dr. Gary Ailes is the most accomadating, honest, and caring vet you can find. He did our pups total hip replacement, did a beautiful job, has an amazing bedside manner, is a great guy and went far FAR beyond the call of duty (and for not a cent over what he quoted)!! If you want an incredible surgeon and true partner in managing your dogs health issue, dont think twice about seeing Gary Ailes! If I could give a higher rating than 5, I absolutely would-- hes the best of the best!

This is the most unprofessional vetinarian office I have ever been to. Not only are they pricy, but they dont inform you about potential charges until its too late and then simply dont care enough to keep your business. They will perform procedures on you animal and not even tell you. I will NEVER go back to this place and buyer beware. And to top it off . . . they are LIARS!! They told me something was "state" law when in fact--it is NOT!!. These people cannot be trusted.

While they are extremely compassionate and wonderful vets and staff, when they informed me my dog needed $1,500 surgery, they wouldnt work with me to allow me to pay it off. As a result we never treated his cancer. I will go back for their shots, etc. as they have all our animals records and as I said they ARE caring and compassionate. Well, I ended up picking up all records and using a clinic for their shots. Havent found a great vet yet

This place kinda sucks, because my cat is doing something and of course it would be Sunday right, and obviously they are freaking closed. You guys need to be opened all the time no matter what. Yes thank you for help for other people but seriously what the heck. Its just messed up. Even if I did call no one would answer because they wouldnt be there! So please change your workdays. Meaning, be opened on SUNDAYS to. Thank you!!!!!

Moving from a place we lived at for 16 years and had a great vet we were concerned about finding a new one here in Carson City. Sierra veterinarian was recommended and has been great. They are thorough gentle and they actually care about the animals they see. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a vet in this area.

Great people. very courteous and truly care for animals. We have taken a number of our pets to be seen there (and a couple to be put to sleep) and every visit is nice even the sad ones. They can be pricey.

The staff and doctors at Sierra Veterinary Hospital are friendly and very caring. Convenient and quick to get appointments. My dog received acupuncture which greatly reduced her pain.
