Unfortunately you cant give ZERO stars. Our healthy 9-year old female golden retriever had a urinary tract infection. Dr. Powell gave her the first injection of Convenia with 2nd injection to follow 14 days later. None of the side effects of drug were disclosed prior to Dr. Powell administering EITHER INJECTION. (This drug has 14 side effects of which our pet experienced 7 - which included death, seizures, hemolytic anemia, inappetance; vomiting, diarrhea & acute pulmonary edema. This information can be found on the Convenia Drug insert which available at the Zoetis web site. In addition, this drug is labelled for bacterial skin infections. Two weeks later we brought her back for 2nd injection of Convenia. Again, we were not informed of any of the side effects. This drug can remain in the body for up to 65 days. No urine test was done prior to the injection to see if the infection was improving as per drug manufacturer label instructions. Less than 4 weeks after 2nd injection she had two seizures within a 10-hour period and was taken to back to ACOMP. Phenobarbital and Clavamox were prescribed and she was also given an injection of Atropine. More seizures followed and then she started having clots of blood in her water bowl. Back to ACOMP. Unfortunately Dr. Spitz was on call since it was a Sunday morning and he was giving possible reasons for the blood clots in her water and he only agreed to see her after I hung up and told him I was taking her to an Emergency Vet Clinic. He then called back and agreed to see her. He prescribed with Doxycycline and Prednisone. Two days later back to ACOMP for more blood work as she was not improving, where she stayed for two days. Dr. Powell said he couldn’t help her and referred us to the Emergency Vet in Fairfield where she was immediately diagnosed with Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia and Immune Mediated Thrombocytopenia. She stayed there for nearly a week and then came home on a ton of meds. Three days after she came home she had 6 seizures in a 12 hour period and she was put back on the Phenobarbital. Back to Emergency Vet for bloodwork and checkup. She was having great difficulty with her mobility because of all the meds she was on. Six days later back to Emergency Vet for more bloodwork, still having difficulty walking. Two days later she could not walk at all. She would not eat. She was breathing very heavily and we took her back to the Emergency Vet at 4:30 AM. We were told she had fluid around her heart and possibly had a blood clot to her spine. The vet described her condition like she was drowning and couldn’t keep her head above water. She had been too good a companion and felt we had no other choice but to euthanize our beloved girl. We did not want her to continue to be in any more pain. We strongly believe we lost our pet due to the two injections of Convenia that she received at ACOMP. I called Zoetis, the manufacturer of this killing drug to inform them that we had lost our pet after she received two injections and they told me that Dr. Powell had already notified them of the “adverse reaction” that our girl experienced. I asked over and over if the Convenia shots could have been responsible for her illness and was told “no” every time, so why did Dr. Powell notify the drug manufacturer that she died after being injected with their lethal drug? We lost our healthy dog because she had a urinary tract infection and was given injections she never should have received.

WONDERFUL CLINIC! We love Dr. Powell! Extremely knowledgeable and patient, always willing to answer any questions and/or concerns. Takes his time to get to know my animals (2 cats and 1 dog). Explains everything in an easy to understand way. Vet techs and staff always have a smile and are interested in our pets! Extremely accommodating to busy schedules and squeezing in appointments. My puppy unfortunately had a rough start in the world with a bacteria intestinal infection and they were able to accomodate us immediately with our choice of Vet. Dr. Powell personally called to check-in and follow up with ANY questions! We recently moved out of state and miss this place soo much! I would recommend this place to anyone! Only negative thing I can say is that there is usually a wait time for appointments (like most Drs offices these days), however I know that they have squeezed me in for extenuating circumstances and believe they do many others... Its a clean comfortable waiting room with coffee and large TV and other clients are generally friendly to start a conversation with. Definitely would recommend them!!

I needed a local vet for one of my 7 dogs. Tried this place after looking at reviews. I actually got the owner of the practice who clearly is just going thru the motions . He kept referring to my dog as she when he is a male. He paid no attention to the dog at all which should have been my first clue but with a sick dog I was just hoping for good care. Never ever again. 3 days later on my way to Fairfield emergency to the true professionals. This place was a joke. All about the in and out daily appointments. If you have a real issue dont waste your time or money on these guys. $650 later they never bothered to even call and check. Lets not forget I have 7 dogs, could have been a big client for them. But as usual no one cares.

I have taken my dog here more than a few times over the past 6 months because she is a rescue dog. The vets are extremely nice and knowledgable. The boarding, though a bit expensive compared to other places treat her very well and are clean. The only issue I have with the place are the operations workers (at the front desk). They are very rude, provide advice that goes against what the vet has recommended (and if you disagree they get upset), and since we have been there enough times, they still dont know who we are and cant find her chart. They dont seem to want to treat us nicely or answer our questions, and treat me the owner as a child (I may be younger than most of their owners, but that is no excuse).

We love the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains! Theyve taken care of our parrots for 15 years and we couldnt be happier. They treat our birds with such care that we never worry when we go away and board them. Theyre always happy to see us, but they have a good time dancing on top of their cages while theyre there. I recommend them for any exotics for their expertise. One of our parrots died while being treated there and we knew that she had had the best possible care. She had acute leukemia and couldnt survive, and our only regret was not being there with her. She had her best chance with these vets. I cant say enough about the amazing care they provide.

I cannot give higher marks to a veterinary practice. Our black lab, Millie got the best of care throughout her life. Millie tore a ligament in her knee and needed surgery that was very specialized. They called in a specialist in surgery for larger dogs from Mendham because they thought it was in the best interest of our dog! They suggested that we put Millie on a diet so that she would live a longer, healthier life. We did, and she lost 20 lbs, putting her into a much healthier range. At the end of Millies life (14 years old) they were empathetic and compassionate with us. I would highly recommend this practice.
