Over a week ago I made an appointment to take my elderly cat in to have it euthanized; its not an easy decision. The fact that I kept the appointment should speak volumes to the staff. I arrived on time but was in the waiting room for 25 minutes before I was invited back - into what appeared to be a very old exam room now used for storage. I explained to the tech and to the doctor that I did not have the money to finance medical care for my 16 year old cat. Other staff came in and out a couple times to get supplies. They kindly told me how beautiful she is - shes a specter of what she used to be - and even beautiful things die. The doctor suggested that she might be diabetic, that there was a fee for a glucose check and insulin month to month would run about $25. I finally agreed to blood glucose check which was normal. Then the doctor suggested that I put her on an antibiotic - injectables are more expensive than oral - almost doubling my cost. I felt more and more pressure to accept life prolonging treatments that I had already told them that I didnt want. The staff was not listening to me. This is not the first elderly cat that I have had. I was upset and crying during the visit. I felt continual pressure to accept treatment. I had already made a difficult decision I shouldnt have to justify myself. It was obvious that the doctor didnt want to help me - only to feel better about herself at the end of the day. In medicine - sometimes its about the patient and the patients family. In tears, I packed my kitty up, put $65 on the counter and left. Im sure Ill receive a bill if that didnt cover the services that I didnt want. I know they meant well but where is the compassion? I knew what I was getting into - I made the appointment over a week ago - if I thought she was getting better or I didnt want to go through with it I would not have kept it. I left feeling like the most horrible person in the universe. My kitty is slowly starving to death - she eats but continues to lose weight. Shes in pain when she walks. She cant make it to the litter box. They got their money though. It was a horrible experience. Ive been to this clinic before with other pets. The staff is nice. They are competent. If they dont want to provide this service they just shouldnt. I would recommend them to others - but not for end of life care. Five stars because I want this posted at the top of the review page - not because Im happy.

This practice was suggested to me from some near and dear friends of mine. Theyve helped with my pet rabbit, Pudge, and weve recently added an Australian Shepherd, Andy, to the family. Andy, as puppies do, developed a taste for wood, flip-flops, dirt, wood chips, three cheese tortellini, and something gritty (we dont know what it is), but he has a tummy ache and painful bowl movements. I called the practice, the phone was answered professionally. I explained my situation, asked if I could be seen as soon as possible. They could squeeze me in at the end of the day. Please keep puppy drinking water! Needless to say, Id admit, Im not the easiest pet parent out there. Im very picky at how my fur kids are treated. I also pretty neurotic when my kids, fur babies included, are in pain. I never stayed in the room when my human babies got their shots! My 7th grader just had to have boosters. I stood outside that door! The kind staff could tell I was about to cry when they had to take Andys temperature and he screamed. So they asked if Id be more comfortable out in the lobby. I was. Dogs can tell when youre stressed, I was stressed and I didnt want to make the Drs or techs job harder. Dr. Meyers was very kind and compassionate, patient as was the Technician assisting us. My husband had a TON of questions and Dr. Meyers took her time and answered those questions. We left with a plan of action. The Tech was kind and loving to our puppy. Even though Andy yelled an hollered loud enough to scare the patients in the lobby, he was giving her kisses, quite passionately when I returned to the room. Check out was a breeze. The lady was kind asked how I was and kindly told me, she hoped Andy would feel better soon. I do appreciate the time and care given to our family at K.K.&M.

After the original Krebs and Kohler retired the place has went down hill. I was very disappointed when I took my cat there after he had been losing weight. The lady vet told me I needed to switch cat foods because the one I had been feeding isnt high quality. Okay, I get that, but I have a multi cat household and have tried other foods but not all of them like it so I stay with the same food. She continued to insult me by saying because I work at a pet store "I should know better". First off, I came to you for help. Second, Im helping pay your salary. I, at the very least expect respect. At that same visit, they labeled the stuff I had done to my cat under my pet birds file. It stated clearly on the file and paper "Avian" and along with in the list of things done FLV/FIV. This means a feline leukemia and AIDS test. Which came back negative. Key words here are Avian and Feline. How in the world do you mix this up? I took my pet conure there once. The vet admitted to me that he knew little to none about birds, yet they still happily took my money and continue to say they see birds. He also lacked basic knowledge. Everyone who knows about birds knows their wing feathers grow back roughly 6 weeks after being clipped. He told me 6 months. The point of me writing this is to show Im very displeased. If I were you, I would NOT take my animals here. Yes, they are cheap but you get what you pay for. Poor service and an incompetent staff. Save your money and take your pet to someone who truly cares about the animals and not about the wad of cash in your pocket. I firmly believe I would have gotten better care taking my pets to gang of monkeys than this place. Im taking my files and pulling out of this vet.

I took my newly adopted dog to this vet for the first time. The exam consisted of taking a weight, trimming nails and taking care of one of my concerns with the dog. The vet did not look in the dogs ears, mouth, feel her abdomen or any other "routine" part of a vet exam I would have expected. I did not feel that the office was very clean, or up to date in regards to equipment. The office staff was VERY nice, and the wait time was minimal despite being quite busy. The price for services was very reasonable, however, I ended up having to take my dog to a DIFFERENT vet two days later. She continued itching and biting herself and we found out that she had a severe ear infection and a skin allergy-- what Krebs, Kohler and Minnix explained to be irritation of the skin from staying at a kennel until being adopted. The new vets office called K,K & M to request records from her visit just two days earlier, and when we received them, there was no record of any medication being prescribed! So on top of an incomplete visit, their records were also very incomplete! The visit to our new vet office cost $200, but I left feeling confident in the care my dog received, and all of my questions were answered-- something my $35 visit at K,K &M did not buy! In my opinion, if you have a pet with no health concerns and you do not mind the outdated office, by all means, this vet is affordable and personable. The office is likely acceptable for routine shots, heart worm and flea protection, etc. If you have a pet who you are concerned with receiving thorough and comprehensive care, I would suggest looking elsewhere. I firmly believe you get what you pay for!
