Why did I rate this place with 5 stars? Well, I went there with very sick dog and after we left I was more than just satisfied. I am considering making that place as a primary care for my dog. Let me draw you a picture what we went through with our 1 year old puppy. My mom was cooking (she loves to cook) and decided to treat our puppy with a bone from the soup. Lilly (the dog) chewed soft part of it and swallowed few small (for a human but not for a dog) pieces. As a result two pieces stuck in her stomach and one in a colon close to rectum. That piece created blockage and she couldnt pass stool. She started vomiting and leaking (from rectum). Poor dog was so sick that I had to rush her to VCA Great Lakes Veterinary Specialists. After hours of waiting for a vet to see dehydrated and sick dog, seeing dog throwing up and having diarrhea we went back home with a $500 bill and STILL sick dog. We prayed she makes through the night, and she did. In the morning as soon as she woke up my brother offered Animal Hospital in Willoughby OH and there we went with Lilly despite all negative reviews. I am not sure why people were having such hard times at this place, but we were treated very well. All procedures were done with my consent. We received our dog back stronger and will smaller bill. The bone from colon was "washed out" (two others my dog threw up). Its been three days since Lilly came back home and she is getting stronger and stronger. What I really like about this place is that staff keep calling up to follow up. They dont offer to bring Lilly back for additional procedures, but simply to follow up and suggest us what to do/expect next. I want to thank them for everything they have done for us and for saving our little Lilly.

-My cat was misdiagnosed multiple times after spending two weeks inpatient and placed on a RX food that actually worsened his condition (after I had been lectured by the vet for my poor care of his diet). -My dog was labeled as "vicious" even though there was no incident of aggressive behavior on his part. -I took the same dog to another vet due to a reoccurring leg injury. When they contacted Animal Hospital Inc., they were informed that no record of the first injury had been maintained in his file. -Requests for transfer of records are never honored (two separate incidents). - Vets prescribe the most expensive medications possible without taking into account the expense of the other services they are billing for. In other words, dont expect to be offered the generic, you better know to ask for it. -Bad customer service, no acknowledgment of error on their end, poor bedside manner and treatment of animals ... and all this at astronomical prices. I have since switched services to Dr. Dan Osborne and Lake Animal Hospital. I have experienced none of the above concerns with either of these providers and am paying half the price of Animal Hospital Inc.

The doctors often recommend treatments I cannot afford and we end up negotiating my cats care. I mean, they often recommend $500 treatments that I have to curb. I took my cat in to have dental work done and 6 months later, the cat needs it again?? Seriously?? Dr Murray is exceptionally well trained, but lacks people skills and empathy. Dr Dennis has the people skills and training but is hard to see. I have a cat with diabetes. He was put on insulin. I had to have the cat almost hit the point of getting ketosis before the decision was made to take him off insulin. Now he is in remission, but I take him in regularly for Acuchecks that the front desk hinted it was a good idea to do. Should I be getting advise from the doctor or the front desk? My cats are both healthy and robust and I am grateful for the care from the Animal Hospital.

This was the 1st time that we have boarded our 5 yo and 1.5 yo German Shepherds (our babies) . They (AHI) were so thorough from our 1st call with Katie to our 1st onsite visit and interfacing with Natalie, Ashley etc. This is the cleanest facility I have seen anywhere. Our Dogs stayed in the Presidential suite....spacious enough for our 2 dogs....they had 3 daily walks, plus playtime , nature walks etc. They could see what was going on through the clear doors of their suite. Oh-and one of the best things was to watch them throughout the day (500 miles away) from the webcam. What a confidence re-assuring feature. I cant say enough. We have not gone away in 5 years because of our concerns about boarding facilities----now I cant wait for our next trip.

*Honest review* - I went in needing a simple anal gland ($25) procedure done to my very healthy dog who was just at a vet 3 weeks ago. When all was said and done I walked out with almost a $200 bill and a follow up visit in a week for them to do another cash grab. Apparently my dog needs a new special prescription dog food (that they just so happen to sell at a very premium price) and special pills for phantom allergies that he now has. They hit you with a fee every time you come in even for a simple $25 procedure ($30-$50 per visit) and sell you on everything just like a Banfield. When did going to a vet become more about making money and less about caring for animals?

If I could give negative stars I would. Dr. Murray is very condescending and trys to bully you into getting more things done than you want. When you say no he gets very mad and the tone in his voice changes. This place is more about the quantity of people than the quality of care they give. Not impressed at all. I had several issues as I have gone to them several times giving them the benefit of doubt, but they continue to disappoint me. My advice is please do your research know what you need and want and dont deviate from that. Stand your ground and dont give in... I will no longer be coming here. They did testing that I did not consent to and still charged me...

I have been taking our animals here for the past 4 years. I have seen Dr. Murry in the past and as another mentioned, Dr. Murray was rather condescending and gruff. We switched to Dr Jennifer Johnston and she is GREAT. Very loving and cuddles the animals, knowledgeable and easy to talk with and the vet techs in the back are all enthusiastic and love our animals. The clinic is more pricey then other places and the front desk staff are impersonal; you do feel like a number when dealing with them as they dont seem to remember who you are when you walk in or your pets name. I continue to go for Dr Johnston and if she were to leave, we would follow her.

Poor care-rude and unprofessional. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET here. They over-charged me [and will do the same to you] Vets today are all about MONEY-and this clinic allows staff[a few members] to be rude-and then accuses ME of being rude! Dr. Murray should have operated much earlier than he did-allowing my dog to suffer. And, after the operation-did not inform me of the swelling issue. He should have told me that swelling MAY be evident for weeks afterwards-and may burst and drain on OUTSIDE. He nor staff advised me of any of these concerns. I may seek legal redress, now that they have insulted me.
