I first encountered Animal Medical Center when my Blue Heeler Aussie Cattle was badly injured . Honestly I just called the first vet I was able to find in the area who was able to see her as we didnt have a regular vet. The year before we lost our Red Heeler due to a similar injury so to say I was "freaking out" is an understatement. I first met Dr. Mutchler that day and not only did she calm my nerves, calmed my dogs nerves and gave me a very positive "plan of attack" to fix her leg they worked with us financially and honestly made us feel like they genuinely cared for our dog and would do everything in their power to get her as close to 100% as they could. To help with cost she showed me how I could bandage and care for Clover as much as I can at home bringing her in only a few times a week rather than every day. A little while later our little dog fell very ill and the outlook was really grim as she was very old. Dr. Mutchler again helped talk my husband and i both through the "best course of action" which in this case was putting her down and while it was a hard decision the entire staff was so supportive and when a condolence card came in the mail a little while later it reinforced in our mind we made the best choice possible for our pets. Our new puppy has been seeing her since she was 9 weeks old and there is no other place I would ever bring my animals. I have interacted with all of the vets at one time or another with Clover and they are all fantastic! I personally like having one main vet that I can see whenever possible rather than the turnstile approach so many big practices have. I like knowing Dr Mutchler knows my animals, knows their history and their personality. I would never go anywhere else for animal care and have recommended them to several friends who were looking for a vet in the Gahanna area. I am not the type of person to ever write reviews, however I stand by Animal Medical Center in Gahanna.

Switched here about 3 years ago after my dog needed an urgent tooth extraction and my normal vet was full for several weeks. Surgery went well and easy recovery. I just took my feline in for surgery this past week and he is recovering great too. Pros: I can usually always get in same day if something urgent pops up. They usually will throw in free samples or take other things into consideration. Example, we rescued our feral kitten and they didnt charge us an office visit - they also price matched the humane societys neutering fee. No office visit charge for yearly shots. They answer all my questions and send follow up emails upon request with short turnaround. They will triage over the phone to help reduce number of unnecessary vet visits. Cons: Sometimes can be a wait in line to check in/out The first time I brought in my dog for surgery the front desk did not go over the itemized bill prior and at a drop-off they started going over all the extra things I could add on. Not the most professional time to ask a pet owner to turn down extra precautions for their pet that can total a couple hundred dollars. However, doctor post surgery was very apologetic about the situation and stressed it caused, she promised to remind the front desk to ask ahead of time. Overall, clean, friendly and professional.

First off, we were bringing our beloved English Bulldog "Frijol" to this location since about 2009 until his recent passing in February. By far, Dr. Jennifer Mutchler, Dr. Mandi Maimone, and Dr. Alexis Gullett are some of the countries best veterinarians. They are great doctors and communicate very well regarding symptoms plus viable options for medical solutions. Through the years the turnaround on front desk staffing and procedures has changed many times. Some years were good and some years including recently just not great. One instance I waited over two hours in the reception area. Overall, I think the doctors are the reason some of the folks come here (and continue to return). These doctors I mentioned understand these are members of our family. I just think the reception, front desk, and waiting rooms procedures need to change in regards to process/courtesy/comfort. Regarding ratings: Doctors are 5 stars all the way and the front desk, reception, etc is a 3 which I am rating from 8 years of visits. To the doctors (Mutchler, Maimone, amd Gullett), THANK YOU for your great service and treatment of our beloved family member. You three are prime examples of how doctors should approach and provide care to patients.

Worst experience. We adopted a puppy here. This puppy had parvo, which wasnt their fault, but made us question their reliability, they never tested the puppy. After our dog started vomiting I called them to ask if we should bring her in, their response? "Yes. Please bring her in asap" which I did. When I got there I was told "did someone call you? They were supposed to, this litter has parvo, not our fault. " left our puppy there for 3 weeks. Never got a call, we called them in which theyd give us conflicting updates. Whoever answered the phone was always terrible. When we got her back we were given medicine with no instructions. When she wasnt getting better we went back and we were informed the medication was for the pneumonia she contracted that we were never told about. We did outpatient treatment. The second outpatient day we got her back my fiance picked her up. She looked horrible. The update he got "shes doing great and she ate" when I got home she vomited bile. I checked her heart rate it was less than 50. There was no way she had been doing well that day. She died that night. The vets we talked to were kind and knowledgeable , but overall their staff was terrible. I wouldnt recommend them.

I took my 6 month old kitten into this practice because they supposedly performed laser declaw surgery. My kitten was given to me after her surgery by a receptionist with an ill fitting e collar that I was charged for twice on my bill. The receptionist wanted to credit my next visit instead of refunding my money. Because the e collar didnt fit properly,my kitten was constantly licking her paws. When I took her back to the practice for a post op checkup I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WOULD BE AN ADDITIONAL FEE IF I WENT WITH MY PET TO SEE THE VET. Mutchler supposedly examined her, charged me $68. NEVER SAW ANY OF THE DOCTORS THERE. The next day took my kitten into a better vet to find her paws were full of pus. My kitten had to then have her paws opened up again to drain the pus and then sewn back up. This cost me an additional $700 in vet bills. I will never return to this practice and I would advise people to go elsewhere in hiring a vet. Poor service, greedy, incompetent staff. No one will speak to you except the staff youre NOT able to talk to a doctor without paying an added fee...I dont need that greed in my life. They are out for the money not the welfare of your pet.

I chose this vet because it was close to my house and convenient. The convenience has worn off by the lack of communication and increasing charges. They dont do annual vaccines...everytime my dogs go in they are "due" for something else they say are required. I took both my dogs up there...one gets groomed and the other just bath and nails...they both contracted bordatella which they were both "vaccinated" for. They denied any responsibility for and charged and arm and a leg for the two rounds of antibiotics and cough meds. I have them the benefit of the doubt and went back. This time for more vaccines and flea medication and furniture spray. My children were sick so I called the medicine in and had my mom pick it up...I had asked the if the spray was safe to use around small children and my animals...she assured me it was so I decided to purchase the $35 flea spray and the flea medication that was over $100. My mom picked everything up and came back and said she was told it was not safe for children or animals. This is just one instance of miscommunication. I dont recommend this place unless you like spending a ton of money and like to wait a long time to check out!
