After going almost 10 months of continuously going to our old vet for urinary issues for our dog, waiting to be referred to a specialist and never getting the information. I asked around for someone that may know another vet that would be a bit more helpful and luckily they were able to talk to a vet here that felt like shed be able to figure out what was going on. Went there for the first time this past week and was very pleased with the outside visual appeal of the building and grounds. They had great handicap access up to the door which many handicap people know thats a hard thing to find at a vet office. For people that use walkers though, the door is a hard thing to keep open if youre walking through it alone. I hope they consider putting in a handicap push button that opens the door, or make the door easier for someone to walk through it that has a walker or wheel chair. When we got into the lobby we noticed that there was drinks for the clients, which I have not noticed in a vet hospital/clinic before. It was a nice touch. Unfortunately the lobby was really loud because of one of the workers, it really unsettled our smaller dogs. One of them got somewhat use to it, but the other was pretty scared by it. Exam rooms were a pleasant size that allowed for both our dogs, both of us, the vet, the vets assistant, and a walker to fit in it. With lots of room to spare! And was please to see the non-slip think on the counter for the animals as it made balancing a lot easier for Bubbles. The two prescriptions that we left with seemed comparable in price to our regular vet. The exam was a little bit more than our normal vet, however it was not a basic exam and therefore feel the price was fair. I was pleased with Dr. Hazzard, her knowledge, her ability to describe things to me in a manner that I understand, and her honesty. We will be going back a couple more times before we decide to make them our permanent vet, but I do know if the lobby is usually that loud then we wont be able to because of the stress it causes our boy (he doesnt hide at our normal vet office).

They say that "will call you for you dogs lab work" guess what I never get a call back, Ill call the phone rings and rings and when I finally do get someone on the phone, I have questions about my dogs allergies, theyll say get to the point or so whats your question, so if theyll just listen for a moment theyll know my question.... for a prescription theyll tell me "we going to email you directions" I never received an email going on 2 days" Im about to change my dog veterinary Clinic... I dont recommend east gate veterinary clinic and when you get your dog appointment you get a new face its not the same face you saw before.. Ive had problems with 2 Veterinary Assistance, Id ask at the main desk, who I dont want helping my dog nor do I want them touching my dog... Ill get the 2 assistance that I had reported which isnt cool at all, my service dog doesnt like and assistance are rough so when I say dont touch Ill hold her I get dirty looks. I can go on and on.... I dont care for EastGate Clinic...

Its about the money! I was already fed up with this vet when I couldnt get out of the office for less than a $100 every time we took our dogs in and thats after purchasing the "wellness care coverage". The final straw was when they refused to put down my sick 17 year old cat. They again wanted to me spend more money to treat her with injections, medications and testing. And if its not hard enough to decide to put down a 17 year member of the family they made me feel like a bad person for even suggesting it. So I left with my sick cat and for a final kick in the face they charged me $50 for the righteous lecture. Needless to say I found a new vet clinic and my only regret is that I didnt do it sooner.

Dr. Maxwell is incredible. She has gone above and beyond to help our cat out with some eye difficulties caused from a herpes virus. Dr. Maxwell is patient, extremely knowledgeable, and gives us many options for treatment that we can choose from. Our cat feels comfortable around her and enjoys her treat at the end. In addition, its of reasonable charge for the quality of care we are getting for our precious baby. Most times, im even able to make an appointment either same day or next day. We wish this was our regular veterinarian! The staff is lovely, clear, and if I have any questions, they are able to get them answered within an hour at most!

By far the worst vet I have ever been to, I would NEVER refer anyone to go to them. They are polite but have horrible communication. I was told they would have a Rx ready for me to pick up by close and drove all the way out there the next day and then got hassled about the Rx and they didnt want to give it to me, and they neglected to tell me this before I drive an hour to get there. They also lost part of our medical record and didnt make it right. AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL communication with terrible customer service. Dont believe them if they say they will call you back, Ive had to call them regularly for the past 3 weeks but nothing gets resolved.

The location is beautiful, but the people are the reason I enjoyed Eastgate so much. The techs were friendly, knowledgeable, and very patient with my less-than-thrilled dog. The vet, Dr. Lantz, was also very patient, kind and professional. They explained all my dogs options for treatment and I didnt feel pressured to spend any money unnecessarily. I would gladly take my pet back to Eastgate for continuing care.

I dont know about their large animal knowledge but the exotics department is terrible. She recommended that I switch to pine shavings for my rat, which as every good rat breeder knows is TERRIBLE and can cause upper respiratory problems. The vet didnt know how many chambers were in a rats heart and didnt even seem to know basic anatomy of rats. As far as exotics go, dont trust em.

Dont know from flags or rats but the clinic is very easy to find. The landscaping is beautiful and dog friendly. The care my dog got for her eye lesion was quick, thorough and detailed. The prices were appropriate and the staff obviously LOVES animals. I only wish Dr. Maxwell could be in Salem and every other city where pets live.
