If you can, avoid. I brought my kitten in because my normal vet, West Hills Animal Hospital (amazing place!!!!), is closed on the weekends and my kitten was very sick with a fever, vomiting, and bloody diarrhea. When I got there they immediately started spitting off all these tests they needed to run without really asking me about his symptoms or medical history. They just assumed he probably swallowed something. They began running tests and x-rays, and I went home to wait for an update. I receive a call a few hours later saying his x-rays showed he had not swallowed something, but had pneumonia. They said they wanted to test for pancreatitis because of something they saw in the x-rays, and would have to keep him over night to monitor him and wait for his test results. They also told me they would call early evening with updates. Well, 6 pm finally roles around and I had not yet received a call, and when I tried to call no one answered. I assumed they must be busy so I drove over to see if I could see my kitten and get some updates. I show up and they werent at all busy. When I finally got to see my kitten I saw one of his front paws was pretty swollen, I asked the vet about it and she said she "couldnt really tell if it was swollen or not." And when I asked one of the nurses for updates, like if his temp had come down, she had no idea. At the time I figured my kitten was in good hands and that all that mattered is my kitten got better, so I went home. The next morning I get a call at 7 am saying my kitten made a full recovery and would be ready for pick up at 8:30am. I show up and they gave me his antibiotics for his supposed pneumonia, 3 cans of bland wet food (they said to make it last 4-5 days, but a kitten his age needs to eat a min of 1-1.5 cans per day, you can do the math), and some probiotics. They charged me $1200 for everything and then offered to test his feces for an extra fee, I said not to because I was going to take him to our normal vet and have it done. 2 days later I receive a call with my kittens fecal test results (yeah, the test I asked them not to run), I am still waiting to see if they will bill me for it or not (which they shouldnt since I didnt sign anything agreeing to the test and I have a witness to prove I did not authorize the test). I took my kitten to my normal vet 2 days later to learn there is a good chance he doesnt have pneumonia and that his sickness was likely caused by the antibiotics he had been on the previous week (the same antibiotics they put him back on to help his "pneumonia." And apparently his symptoms are a very well known side effect of the antibiotics). The radiologist report did not actually confirm pneumonia, it was a mere suggestion but not sufficient evidence to prove anything; and that they should have taken another x-ray to be sure he actually had pneumonia. Basically they completely misdiagnosed my kittens problems and caused more harm to my kitten then good. I will never again take any pet to their facility. They do not care about the animals they treat, they only care about ripping people off and making money.

Ive had a couple good experiences with Dr. Carter, she is very kind and appears very knowledgable. However, last week my chihuahua started having seizures for the first time in his life so I took him in during emergency hours. I was absolutely shocked at the lack of compassion, knowledge, and organization the entire team displayed. Dr. Bonfiglio did not read my dogs extensive medical chart that has records of his heart and nerve issues, as well as the list of 4 medications he is currently on. He did not take vitals on my dog or even look at him. He came into the room and said " I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but he has a brain tumor." He then suggested I take my 12 year old dog with a heart murmur to OSU for an mri and/or have brain surgery. He did not mention possible medications that could help him, he did however become irritated at the meds he is currently on after I asked him to read his chart, stating "I have no idea why he was put on this one, I would have put him on something different." My dog has been on these meds for 2+ years and have had no issues. It seems very unprofessional to make comments about other vets, especially during a situation like this. Upon leaving I stood at the reception desk for 15+ minutes waiting to pay, exhausted and distraught about what to do next with my dog. When the girl finally came to the counter there was no apology, she said she had been looking for me. What?! Very strange thing to say. Terrible experience, total waste of $95. Rivers Edge was phenomenal, I saw them early the next morning. They were so compassionate and truly treated my dog as their own, they absolutely loved him! After reading his chart, asking me questions, doing numerous little tests on him (watching him walk, range of motion in his neck, looking in his ears/ mouth, etc.) they gave me instructions of what to do if he had any more seizures, a prn seizure med in case he had another one as well as a seizure prevention/pain med. They have also called twice to check up on him! My dog is now doing great! I sincerely hope Willamette Vet takes a long hard look at the kind of care some of their team members are giving, not at all helpful during an already stressful and difficult time.

First let me say there are a lot of vets that work here so by no means am I saying they are all bad. I however have had several bad experiences here and will no longer be taking my pets to them. There are a number of reasons for this. The most recent example is how they handled mistakes they had made. They had miss diagnosed/treated some pretty major skin issues that I brought my dog in to have checked. When I followed up a few days later (not them following up w/me) it took two days to get a call back from a vet. Then they wanted me to re-schedule at my full expense a second visit. I expected to pay for any medications and further treatments but thought since I paid for the visit to diagnose this exact issue already and paid for medicine that didnt work I would at least get a follow up reduced or something to show they cared or wanted to make this mistake right. I feel that because many people go here, they are busy, therefore they dont care if they loose your business. When I told them I would be looking for a new vet they said "ok". They seemed to care more about the bottom line and less about my animal. No apology, no sympathy for my pet’s condition, no anything. A simple “sorry that it took so long to get back to you”, or “sorry we didnt get the treatment right” or just plain “we are sorry” would have been nice. I have been coming here for the last 10 years with my first and second dog and three cats (1 former, 2 current). When my last dog passed away (in their facility) they left her information in the computer and continued to send appointment requests for her annual and shot appointments. I should have known then the attention to detail here is in the billing and appointment setting area not pet care. As I stated in the beginning I am not trying to attack any of the veterinarians here I appreciate all the hard work they do, I just wanted to share my experience with the community and remind everyone that we have many good options in Corvallis. I feel the service and policies here are lacking, my pets mean a lot to me and I want to know the people taking care of them feel the same way. Best to all of you and your furry friends!
