I have a serious condition in my left eye, and was told by a doctor at EyeHealth NW that I had irreversible optic nerve damage in that eye: a checkpoint on the road to blindness. Very scary stuff. The doctor prescribed a new medication for me that I had never taken before and I was not warned of any side-effects. Within a few days after, my eye turned very red and my vision was slightly blurry, and I was beyond terrified (as any reasonable person would be). I scheduled an emergency visit, as I have absolutely no choice but to be extremely proactive. The same doctor that delivered the news of optic nerve damage to me checked out my eye and reported I (and I quote word-for-word): "Dont need to blow the whistle and schedule an emergency visit over a little side effect". I never had a medical professional be so condescending and express little to no regard for me or my health. I felt like I was treated like a child and nothing more than a mere dollar sign by this doctor. I will not return to Eyehealth NW, ever. I will never forget being treated with little to no empathy for a serious condition. I will say that all the other doctors I saw at EyeHealth NW were great, I have no complaints about them in the slightest. I understand they have very stressful jobs and busy schedules. Its unfortunate that one doctor there ruined my trust for the rest of them.

Ive been going to Eyehealth NW for over 20 years, and theyve seen me through multiple ailments. Their medical staff has always been top notch and Ive been absolutely delighted with the quality of care Ive received. However, over the years their office operation has gone from acceptable to downright dismal. I just returned from what should have been a 10 minute pressure check but ended up being there almost an hour and a half because once again, the 5 or 6 stations on the front desk were staffed by only two people trying to check patients in and verify their information as well as check patients out with follow-up appointments. Likewise, most of their techs seem to stay for only a short time. I literally am seen every six months, or in some cases more frequently, and have been since the late 1990s and Ive never seen the same tech twice. This year, the tech doing my annual refraction recorded the wrong measurements on my script resulting in purchasing a couple of pairs of glasses that I had to throw away, plus paying for a re-exam somewhere else to verify the script was incorrect. Over the years, the practice appears to have grown a great deal, but they still seem to have retained the administrative staffing for a practice half the size. Ill keep going there because the doctors are so good, but they really need to examine their staffing levels.

Within the last two months I have had cataract surgery done on both eyes. Dr. Waldman explained all the lens options available to help me make a decision on which to choose. I was then scheduled for surgery. The staff at the surgical center were professional, efficient and caring. I was very nervous but their explanations of what would occur during surgery were thorough and everyone preparing me was very understanding which made me feel more at ease. The first surgery went smoothly, Dr. Waldman did an excellent job, and I was home before I knew it. The result was amazing. My vision in that eye was crystal clear. A month later the second eye was done, again with a compassionate but very professional staff preparing me, and I had the same great result. I am very pleased with my experience with the surgical center and, particularly, Dr. Waldman. I would definitely recommend anyone needing cataract surgery consider EyeHealth Northwest.

Positives: Very nice assistant to the doctor, very professional eye exam. Ultimately, got what I came for which was a new prescription. Cons: Was not told that there is a separate charge for a "Contact Evaluation" above and beyond the standard vision exam. Made my co-payment and then I was asked for an additional $60 before I could leave. Eyes were dilated - I was not told this would be a part of my exam. No one asked if I had a driver, someone to call, etc...driving while dilated is not SAFE! Seems kind of important to mention... Upon leaving, my follow up appointment was scheduled at the wrong location. Had I not checked my paperwork, I would have ended up without a doctor to do my follow up exam. The soonest available as a result is one month out, not one week as per the doctors request. Overall, I am disappointed with the administrative staff of Eye Health NW.

This office sees a lot of elderly patients but is definitely not elderly friendly. The staff talk and walk too fast, are impatient for answers and will often rush an elderly patient into making a statement by finishing it for them. I was very disappointed when I accompanied my mother to a couple of her appointments. I now attend most of her appointments to make sure she is given the respect and time she needs. I dont care how long it takes, they are not going to treat my mom disrespectfully. The phone system is terrible so my mom doesnt even want to try to navigate it. I watched how the staff interacted with other elderly patients as well and was appalled. Shame on you as an office. Take your time, slow down and treat your patients like people! And dont even get me started on the optical department. Its time to make a change.

Be prepared to wait a couple hours for your appointment. Also, I called tonight at 5:25pm to simply ask what my prescription number is. I was kept on hold until 5:29, just to have them say,"sorry we are closed and Im not gonna look up your information" When I stated that they close at 5:30, and I called five minutes ago, she responded "yeah, thats in 1 minute. Call back tomorrow." You cant take 30 seconds to look up my prescription number?? Really? What happened to customer service? I needed that number tonight. Sorry you wanted to be off the clock, but you cant stop helping customers just because its almost closing time. What a crock. So unhappy. Between this and the 2 hour wait time during my last appointment, I will not be back.

Brought my Grandma in for a follow up. Kudos to Gina who was kind and thoughtful from the minute she called our name. My Grandma had a stroke in 2015 and uses a walker. She also has a heart condition which can cause fatigue if she has to move quickly. Right away Gina was thoughtful by noticing that a slower pace would be helpful. So many medical staff are in a rush to move people through and overlook the caring part of Healthcare. Gina was patient and attentive and increased the safety for my Grandma by making sure the brakes were set on her walker and not rushing her around the office. Gina is the exact type of person who I value and trust with someone I love.

Buyer beware. Purchased a pair of $609 digital lenses an upgrade from the high index 1.67 which was purchased the time before from them for $300 and something, at the suggestion of the sales staff. They charged the $609 and said they were digital lenses, but actually they were high index.NOT digital at all. Cheats not very ethical business practices. This matter is so important to me because these glasses are for my six year old son who has a prescription of-10. Poor thing. Charlie Shaw
