I was drying my dog off the other day and i felt what i thought was a tumor near his rib cage. I quickly called this veterinary hospital since i recently moved close by. I spoke with the receptionist and asked if they were open. She said yes they were open until 7. It was just after 4. I said ok thats great because i just saw this lump on my dogs chest and i need to bring him down. She cut me off to tell me that that would be impossible because its by appointment only. Kind of rude but i thought ok. She told me the earliest she would get me in was in about 10 days. I asked her do you think i should wait 10 days? She told me she couldnt tell me. I asked if this thing is typically an emergency. She told me she would have to see the animal. I said i could bring him down and someone can just tell me if its an emergency. She said they were by appointment early and recommended an emergency hospital in Plains PA. I said but is this kind of thing an emergency and she told me again she would need to see the dog first. I explained to her that without seeing any dog, can a "tumor" like this be an emergency in any case? And again, she says, i need to see the dog but then refused to see the dog. At this point im just absolutely frustrated. Here i find a lump on the side of my dog and i call the veterinary hospital hoping for some answers. I said wow a couple of times in a row on the phone and hung up. In retrospect, she could have at least asked me what size it was. Maybe how long its been there? How does it feel? Does the dog have pain when i touch it? Something??? Instead it was like talking to an answering machine. I mean i know its a job and it might be a little late in the day but have some respect for what you do. Google was a much better source of information THAN THE VET. I was absolutely disgusted. My roommate came home and i talked with him about it and he told me he had a similar experience there with his dogs injury. He called there a couple weeks ago because his dog was injured and the receptionist tried talking him out of bringing his dog in because "tail injuries arent serious". He brought the dog anyway, against that receptionists advice, and the doctor performed surgery on the tail because it was infected and life threatening. Good thing he didnt listen to her or the DOG WOULD BE DEAD.

I have only used this facility twice and so far I have nothing bad to say about them. I woke up one morning and my dog was having difficulty breathing and couldnt stand up on his own. I called them and was told to bring him in as soon as I could get there. The staff came out with a stretcher and carried my 90lb dog in, put him in a room. The Doctor was in not 5 minutes later, Checked over my dog and told me the bad news, He was having respiratory distress due to cardiac failure. I had two options 1) spend a lot of money to get x rays and tests and possibly get 6 months longer with him, but he was not walking and how much pain was he in? or 2) put him down, sadly that is the option I had to choose. The staff was great and waited until my mother could come from her work across town. When we were leaving I turned around for one last look and the vet tech was there petting him and making him look as comfortable as possible, I know its not much but in that moment I knew she truly cared. I got the call two weeks later to pick up his remains, everything was wrapped up in an adorable package and there was a booklet in it. In the booklet they actually had a lock of his hair and you could write in it almost like a baby book, it had things like favorite spot, best friends, favorite activities, birth date. It was just so thoughtful. After a while it was time to go ahead and get another dog, I adopted him a few days before he turned 1 year old, I took him here and once again the staff was great. I definitely trust them to take care of my animals.

The Dr is only concerned with making money not caring for the wellness of the patients.. We had our cat there a few months ago for a urinary obstruction. The doctor prescribed a special urinary diet food.. The food required a prescription, which we had refilled by him once after the initial bag. We found a larger quantity at a better price and tried to buy that food through Petsmart he refused to send them the prescription as it would be money out of his pocket. He is an awful, selfish man who does not care about our pets as his patients he is more concerned about what money hes going to make off of your pets being sick. If they could get rid of him as the doctor that would be great because the rest of the staff there is wonderful.

Cleo and the family thank you more than you can know. After waking up at 6am to puddles of blood everywhere and my dog soaking wet with blood, they did their finest to help my BEST FREIND and to keep me informed and calm. She was in for emergency surgery in a timely manner and had a thorough check up too. They went above and beyond my expectations. As a regular customer I have always trusted them to care for my dogs. They continue to prove their excellence, professionalism and compassion time after time. Cleo is home after 1 day and recovering. Thank You All from the bottom of my heart. The entire staff is fantastic!

Outstanding staff of trusted experts. I have been using Hazleton Veterinary Hospital with all of my pets for decades. Reliable, responsive, knowledgeable, and compassionate. All of the traditions that I have come to expect have transitioned through new ownership where hours and appointment availability have actually become easier to obtain. I am looking forward to future service enhancements. Perhaps a weekend on-call local vet referral from a Hazleton Veterinary Hospital doctor in the event of a pet emergency.

My Pug was in respiratory distress due to getting overly excited as we were traveling. She needed to be calmed down so she could begin breathing normal again. This Vet office refused to see us, stating they were too busy and did not have an O2 tent. They sent us 25 minutes away and we lost our girl. All Vets have O2 which they use in surgeries and such and they have the ability to calm a pet with medication. What they did was totally unexcusable.

I rescued a dog from a shelter, and her an appt. for a wellness check up. the staff is friendly and you cant help but fall in love with her. the cost of veterinary care is not cheap, but I have to admit their prices are fair, if you have an animal you need to take care of them. they are your responsibility. Bottom line .. good care and at a reasonable price, this is the place to go
