Let me begin by saying that the service was great. All of the staff members were very friendly and made me feel welcomed. I only went in for an exam and a teeth cleaning since it was my first time at the location. The cleaning was very nice and I left feeling very clean. I did have a better teeth cleaning before at another location, but that is too far now. However, she was great - my second best of all of the hygienists that I have had over the years. The dentist that I had met during the visit was very nice as well. Such a shame that I will not get to experience her skills because I believe that I will not be returning to this office anymore. When I first called to schedule, I was told that my insurance was not really an insurance, so there is no coverage - that it was just a discount card for the services performed. It was my first time using this as well so I went with the flow and thought, oh! maybe I am supposed to file a claim for reimbursement with my insurance provider. After I paid for the services and left, I called my insurance for the next steps that I would need to take in order to file a claim. The benefits representative was very surprised and told me that I should not have had to pay for any of the services that are usually covered under the insurance. I was baffled! Honestly, if I had to pay, I have no problems about it because it was necessary for my health. But I am a college student and grew up with no financial support from my parents because they had both passed away. Whatever I can save, I want to save. I was told by the office that it would be a two week process in order to get a refund. One week to wait for my insurance to notify me of what was paid on my behalf, and one week to wait for the dental office to recieve payment so that they can issue me a refund. To this day I still did not receive my refund and I feel terrible that I had to keep calling the office for updates. Now, due to certain reasons that I can try to understand, the bookkeeper will not be there until next Tuesday (this will become a month of waiting). Talk about bad timing? I can understand that the office was misinformed about how to handle patients accounts that present this insurance. What I cannot understand is why does it take so long to get back money that was unrightfully charged and taken from me. My insurance company even went the extra mile to give them a call to explain the situation and even faxed over my policy of benefits and coverages. They should have been able to refund me the money because payment should have been taken from the insurance company in the first place - why hold my money hostage until a reputable insurance company gives you payment? Do you do this for every insurance? In this situation, it is hard to say who was wrong, but it really could have been done quicker with the amount of undeniable coverage I have and proof I have on hand two weeks ago that my insurance sent me as a list of payments made/will be made on my behalf.

BEST Dental Experience Ever. Competition for Dr. Handle must be writing these few negative reviews. A year ago my previous dentist quoted me thousands of dollars in "needed" work: a root canal plus fillings in other teeth. I wanted a second opinion and came to Dr. Handles office based upon a gleaming referral. My friend said Dr. Handle was the best dentist she had ever been to. He was straight with me and said I did not "need" a root canal. Stated that we can try to do a large filling that will last a few years. Maybe two, maybe ten. If he hit the nerve while proceeding with a filling, a root canal would then immediately have to take place. I chose the cheaper option and asked to start on the filling. Onto the procedure.. He first numbs the gum with a few almost completely painless shots of Novocain. (were talking a pinch.. youve hurt yourself more by flossing) Waits for that to take effect, and then administers the shots deeper in the gum. (Im not a dentist, so Im not sure of exactly whats going on here). Point is, I never felt any pain. I was astonished, honestly. From then on, the procedure went on like an oiled machine. With his assistant, they were almost artistically professional. They seem to have done this hundreds if not thousands of times before. Each instrument is passed, often without words. Its like watching a ballet in front of your face! He made my old dentist seem archaic. Dr. Handles dentist "bays" have a camera to take a picture of your tooth. You instantly see it on a computer monitor next to you. X-rays appear on there as well. Magnification of problem areas at the press of a button. Now, for cost. As I stated earlier, he didnt try to sell me on the (expensive) root canal/crown/etc. A cavity seemed to disappear from the time I visited my previous dentist. (more to do with the presumed dishonesty of my previous dentist than Dr. Handle) For all the work that he did, it wasnt that bad. Im writing this after just getting back from my second visit to Dr. Handle. Today he fixed a chipped molar. I walked in and out the door in under 30 minutes. I had dreaded what the bill might be before going in. It didnt even come close to my (pessimistic) expectations. Quick. Painless. Fair price. Thank you Dr. Handle!! (and team)

Dont give The Wayne Dental Care your business. Alicia – the Office Administrator - double bills! This questionable and unethical practice is wrong and should not be done by any reputable practice. I am on Medicare and therefore have a very limited income along with very basic dental insurance. My regular dentist was away on vacation last summer when a Starburst candy I was chewing pulled out one of my crowns. Having used Dr. Handel at the Wayne Dental Care in 1998, I (foolishly!) returned there for assistance. And was warmly welcomed by Kristin I explained my financial situation to her and she had the Office Administrator – come around to ‘help’ me. I explained my insurance situation and asked for the price. She retorted that there was a practice price of $1,692 for crown reattachment. I pleaded my financial case again - and she reduced the price to $846. I was thrilled and paid it all upfront by credit card, and had the procedure performed by Dr . Avi Weiner at the practice. The fun started when I received an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from my dental insurance company. I saw that Alicia had indeed billed the company for my crown repair - and had indeed received a payment for it!! Some $847.80 So with the $846 she got from me, that made the total reimbursement of $1692!! The price that they usually charge for a crown! However: when I returned to the practice and confronted Alicia, she refused point blank to reimburse me ANYTHING!!! She claimed that that was the regular fee for a crown re-attachment - despite me pointing out that regular dental insurance would only reimburse the practice the fee she charged me!! The paid $846!! They would normally have to swallow the remaining balance - as is customary for medical/dental practices. She still refused to credit me for th fee I had paid - seeing her chance to milk the disabled patient! So go here at you own peril!! You have been warned to find other more honest dental practices!!!!!
