Please advocate proper health care so solutions can be promptly applied because treatment effects EVERYONE, both direct and indirectly. I am not a complainer, but there comes a time, and maybe its the rarity of my condition, but heres what Ive experienced at St. Francis on Commonwealth Dr. When called in for vital signs, I watched the previous patient skip out of the room, so I suspected the little girl to have a [possibly] contagious illness, due to its lack of severity. I asked the nurse if her symptoms suggested it to be, but she grimmaced a look of disapproval while she ignored my request to disinfect the chair and blood pressure cuff. Id hate to compound my illness, especially since this visit only instilled further apprehension toward redressing my disorder. After clarifying I was, indeed, not taking my ADHD meds anymore, she insisted I be honest with the Dr, yet I was honest with her. Upon entering the medical-practice area, to be placed into a room, the technician verbally instructed me "first door on the left," to what seemed to be a janitors closet with dirty walls that surrounded a mobile counter, beneath a piled slop of medical supplies, a bare bed that was wet, and a bare pillow in wet chairs. The musty smell of vinegar sent me back out to inform the great technician. Im glad bleach isnt being used since we are aquatic animals and bacteria isnt much of a problem at hospitals. The technician complained about a coworker as he finished my palace. It gets better though. So you know, approx 40% diagnosiss are missed or misdiagnosed, and since I have been missed diagnosed 4x by 3 MDs, regarding the issue, I wanted this one to see footage of the torsion in an environment that enhanced its visuals, at a peak of discernment. The doctor only viewed the first 10 seconds, which displayed nothing important. I compelled his attention to the footage before catching an exam of a condition that REQUIRES specific time/placement variables, to assess it accurately, but he left the room and returned with the wonderful technician, who has no medical or common sense training, to monitor the interaction (as a sort of liability safeguard against inappropriate practice). Id expect that from a high school jock, but he gets paid to fix people, professionally. I made the technician leave since I became excessively uncomfortable. Believe me, I didnt want to be there. The Drs speedy phycial exam brought no discovery, and his direction of practice would have only been benificial if my condition involved amputation, but Im not there... Yet. Well, Id rather have my body parts but I guess money will buy me temporary distractions from misery. Preventative care is foreign to most it seems and surgery is inevidable but Im at the mercy of their instructors ethical practices and competence (if applicable). To sum it up, I had to deny care from this Dr 3 times and he kept returning to the room with suggestions other than 1. Get a different MD or 2. write a referral to a general surgeon. He even had the audacity to suggest a psychiatrist. Would this treatment drive somebody nuts or am I extraterrestrial? I complain at restaurants like I suggest visiting this hospital. Atleast I can throw up without my gastrointentestional tract being amputated. 40% of testical tortion patients who undergo surgery avoid amputation. Wish me luck...

My wife delivered a baby in March 2016. The labor and delivery and post-care team of anesthesiology, doctors, and nurses were absolutely wonderful and my wife had planned on having any future children at St. Francis Eastside, but will not because of the following reason. First of all, we never received one single bill from the hospital. In June 2016, my wife received a letter saying her insurance was requesting more information in order to process the hospital claim. She was able to get the issues taken care of. Still, no official bill from St. Francis. July 2016, my wife received a separate bill from Palmetto Anesthesiology Associates for almost $5,000. Still, no bill from St. Francis. My wife verified with the insurance company that they had submitted a payment to the hospital. On 8/15/16, my wife called the billing hotline and heard that the insurance payment had been posted to her account. She requested via the hotline that an itemized statement be sent to her. An itemized statement arrived in the mail a few days later. Still, not an official bill from the hospital. My wife received a letter in the mail at the end of August 2016 stated she owed $12,000 to St. Francis. Knowing this amount was false because the insurance company had made a payment, she called and spoke with a representative to have a bill reissued in the correct amount. Instead of a bill arriving, another itemized statement arrived. Today, 9/10/16, my wife received a letter from a collection agency saying she was delinquent on her account and needs to remit payment to St. Francis within 30 days. Never once did she receive an actual bill from St. Francis. The bill she received at the end of August 2016 was for the incorrect amount and instead of reissuing the bill in the correct amount, they turned her into a collection agency. She had read a previous review before giving birth that the billing department at St. Francis was hokey and this proves it really is. We will be GHS patients from now on. Update: Today, 9/15/2016, we received a past due notice in the mail from St. Francis for our childs account. Not one bill was sent to us in our childs name. My wife keeps everything and just finished going through all the bills and statements again. The only thing she found was an explanation of benefits from our insurance company regarding the payment they made for our childs claim. The insurance made a payment at the end of June and we received the EOB on July 20th. Weve been waiting for a bill from St. Francis, but have never received one until today and it is a past due notice. My wife called the customer service hotline and was told that she was not the only one to complain about not receiving any bills from the July billing period. So this hospital has ruined countless other peoples credit/or threatened to do so and we probably wont even receive an apologize.

I am not to write negative reviews, but I have to now. The care for the patients in the ER was definitely not a priority. When we walked in, there was no one waiting in the ER waiting room. The Triage nurse was very friendly and took me right away. When they put me in a ER room (about 10:30 pm) every ER bed was empty. After waiting for about an hour with no acknowledgement of being there, the ER doctor came in and asked what was going on (after I had given triage all the details). He asked if I had been given an IV yet (which I hadnt), he listened to my stomach with the stethoscope, said I needed a CT scan and walked out. I was cramping and very weak from losing natural fluids. We waited about 30 - 40 more minutes (as we heard the RNs talking about personal things) to get the IVs going. By then, about 2 other patients came in, but they still werent busy. The nurse (Emily C). that hooked me up to the IVs was rude and it was obvious she was just there for a paycheck and didnt care about my comfort. I asked for a glass of water and she explained that I couldnt have any until I was discharged. I completely understood that. After waiting for about 3 hours, I asked her politely why we were waiting so long seeing that the ER was not busy. She said, "there is alot going on behind the scenes". I thought "yep, talking personal things". She never apologized and during the entire 8 hours we were in there, she only asked me one time if I needed anything. When I asked for a blanket, I had to ask her twice!! I asked her how long we would have to wait to get the CT scan and she said about 30 minutes. The wait for the CT scan was about an hour. Anytime I asked her something medical related, she said "she didnt know" and didnt offer to ask the doctor. The CT tech was very kind and had sympathy. She helped me in and out of the wheelchair and truly cared about my well-being. Went back to ER bed and doctor addressed the CT scan about an hour later. Again, they never got extremely busy. The doctor asked me if I could provide a stool sample and I said "yes" but I needed some water. He said ok, well get you some water. The nurse was in there when he said it, and left. I waited another 30 minutes and she came in without water. I asked her where my water was (politely) and she said "I dont think you should drink any". I reminded her that the doctor said I could have water and she got very frustrated and wanted to argue saying "you are getting fluids through the IV" . About 20 minutes later, she brings the water. Finally after 8 hours of being in the ER (that never git really busy) we were FINALLY discharged.
