Rant on Value Vet. I am so disappointed in Value Vet. They used to be the place I would take the dogs but since they are now under new management they have changed a lot and not for the better!!! My dogs needed rabies shots. That. Was. It. 1. My appointment was at 11:20. They didnt see us till 12:00. 2. The vet techs hated their jobs. They had bad attitudes and and acted like it was a huge inconvenience to see us even though I made the appointment a week ago. 3. They require an "exam" before they give the vaccine which in turn was the vet listening to their hearts, petting them on the head and saying "they look great." 4. They were acting sketchy. When I asked why they needed an exam the vet said "thats the over all policy now." When I asked the over all policy for whom? The state? Or Value Vet? She stated "Just the over all policy." And wouldnt elaborate. 5. The vet messed up.....twice. She poked through both dogs skin, squirted the vaccine liquid on the floor and blamed it on faulty needles. Both dogs were poked over 4 times!!! 6. Because the new policy of value vet requires an exam the bill was over $100!!!! When I told them that was way too expensive they just said, "Well, thats the over all policy. Its not like you can just walk into a doctors office and receive some medicine. You have to have relationship with the doctor." To which I replied, "Yes you can. Theyre called walk-in clinics." I will never bring my dogs back there again!!! Now I know better. Shame on you Value Vet. What a joke.

Took my dog in Sept 2010 because he was having a lot of anxiety induced behavioral issues. He was an adopted dog who was abused so this is not unusual and I was just unsure how to handle it and make him feel at ease. The vet was friendly and suggested we try some behavioral modification techniques first and said that if that didnt resolve the issue we would try medication. I tried the techniques with little to no success for 6 months and resorted to calling back to try the other option. When I called back I was told I would have to bring him back in for another visit. I was definitely not told I would be paying for an entire additional visit if the techniques didnt work or I would have just asked for a prescription then in case I needed it. This is completely ridiculous and I even though their prices are low, I was told when I called that if it had been over 30 days since the last visit, even if it was for the same exact issue, you had to come in for another visit. I have dealt with several vets over the years and have never heard of such a policy. I dont appreciate taking advantage of so that they can make a larger profit. I wouldnt recommend them, you should pay the extra $20 to go to a quality establishment.

DO NOT waste your money!! You will end up spending far more money in the long run when you have to bring your dog to another vet anyway!! I brought my elderly dog there two weeks ago because he was starting out fine then two minutes in collapsing and not being able to walk. I assured the vet that I have seen him in pain and that wasnt pain. And the vet, without running any clinical tests assured me it was orthopedic and REFUSED to do anything but prescribe pain killers for the rest of his life. Feeling uneasy, I then paid for a second exam at the vet I prefer (they were just getting too expensive with all of the treatment an old dog needs) and they ran a bunch of clinical easy tests to determine that it was neurological and there was a cure for it! I then decided to still give Value Vet the benefit of the doubt to bring my new 6 month old in that I just picked up at the pound with a respiratory infection. Again, the vet assured me it was fine, probably from the tubes during surgery getting spayed, and not to worry. Now my other dog has caught whatever "wasnt an issue" with the puppy and Im stuck with now two sick dogs to bring back to my other vet. If I could give them 0 stars I would.

My maltese has chronic ear infections, but it got to the point that his meds were no longer effective. Being new to town, we figured wed try Value Vet. Big mistake. First off, we waited over half an hour past our appt time to see the vet. As if that wasnt enough, they didnt have any of the records we had faxed over the day prior. Rough first impression. As we explained the problem and how we had been treating it to no avail, the vet seemed to only be halfway listening. She prescribed a medication that was pretty much the same thing wed been using. When we pressed her with the fact that that medication wasnt working, she simply explained "its basically the same thing, just with some different ingredients". Oh. Thanks for being so thorough. At any rate, we checked out and proceeded to use the new medication. It didnt work. The infection actually kept getting worse. My wife refused to go back to Value Vet, so we took our dog to McCormick Animal Clinic near our home in Donelson. They prescribed 2 weeks of antibiotics that cleared up the ear infection almost immediately. How nice. A vet with a clue! Save your time. Save your money. Skip Value Vet.

I came home a few days ago to find that my 8 month old puppy Jagger had been brutally attacked by another dog. I was naturally in shock but had heard good reviews of this vet, so this is where I rushed him. It was the best decision I could have made. They are the most wonderful people! They went above and beyond to save and stabilize Jag. I had to take him to the ER for overnight monitoring, but returned to Value Vet the next day. they looked at him and kept him stable. They were completely open and honest with us about his situation and ended up referring us to another vet, because they couldnt do in house blood work and wanted the best care for Jag. They were extremely affordable. We told them our financial situation and they worked with us to make it fit in our range without taking away from his care. BEST VET EVER!!! all of the staff was extremely friendly, knowledgable, and caring. Thank you guys for everything.

I had taken our dog Kaya there for normal routine exams and shots for years and had a good experience. But we had a bad experience with her surgery. First, we did a test anesthesia and urine analysis to make sure she would be okay going under for surgery. The day of the surgery came and we still didnt hear back and the staff called us to see if we wanted to go ahead and do the surgery without the results. We were like HELL NO! We rescheduled the surgery for a later date. We paid for an expensive biopsy to be done on the mass and after three weeks of calling them, they finally called us to say that the pet pathology service lost it AND it wasnt their fault. They said they would refund the money and that I should just monitor the area if there was any other growth. I understand that mistakes happen and they outsource their services, but there was just a series of events and disorganization.
