Im shocked to read anything but GLOWING reviews for this optometry practice. I have been a patient at Lake Travis Eye Care since it opened. Ive never received more personal, attentive care from an Optometrist. I happened to find Dr. Prevost and Lake Travis Eye Care while looking for a doctor who accepted my (lousy) insurance. They were on my list, and after researching all of my options, I chose to give them a try. Im SOOOOO happy that I did. The office is beautiful, the service is great, and the selection of eye wear is fantastic, and they have a large selection of price ranges to fit anyones needs. I bought my FIRST pair of progressive lenses there and I couldnt be more pleased with them. I constantly get compliments on my frames, and the fit and style are perfect for me. I was very pleased with the assistance I received in picking out the right frames -- it was such personalized service and I felt like finding the right frame for my face was the most important goal while I was in the office. There arent very many places I go these days where I receive that level of SUPERIOR customer service. They handled everything with my insurance company (they should receive a reward for that!) -- my insurance policy only allows the use of one lab to make the lenses and its evidently not the highest quality lab in Austin (and this info is directly FROM my insurance carrier). I was kept informed of the progress and immediately contacted when they were ready. I LOVE this office, staff, and especially the doctor, Dr. Nancy Prevost. In addition to my glasses, Ive seen her for treatment of an eye infection. I had already seen a doctor for the same infection while I was traveling out of town. I used the medicine that the traveling doctor had prescribed, but I didnt get any relief and I started losing my eyelashes! I finally scheduled an appt. with Dr. Prevost, and she immediately provided relief with the right medication, but also provided an ongoing preventive approach for me, by suggesting a new method to remove my eye makeup. Thankfully, my eyelashes grew back and I havent had a problem since! As long as I live in Austin, Ill NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE for my eye care needs.

I took my mother here to have her glasses adjusted and while the front desk lady was lovely and pleasant the owner/optometrist was absolutely horrible...TO MY 3 YEAR OLD! As a new resident I was excited of found a cute boutique optometrist office. HOWEVER, while they were adjusting my mothers glasses (for which they charge $5) my daughter was innocently trying on frames. Why? Because every adult in her life wears glasses. While I am standing next to my child managing the situation, the owners charges out of the back and rips the glasses out of my daughters hands and scolds her yelling (very corasely) "YOU NEED TO NOT TOUCH THESE!" I calmly responded to her that theres not any actual glass in the frames, shes being very careful/not hurting anything and I was helping her. She snaps at me that they can still be broken and are VERY EXPENSIVE. I have worn glasses for 20 years, my current frames cost $600 and the PLASTIC frames she was putting on her face would not have been broken unless she took them outside without my knowledge and put them under my car tire and I drove over them! I stood at the door and explained to this woman that you do not scold someone elses child, nor do treat an innocent 3 year old so harshly. After I put my hysterical child in the car I went back in and asked who had spoken to us in such an awful way and was told it was the owner. if you have children of any age, I would recommend you not stepping foot into this business. I know I will be taking my business to a more child friendly office.

I liked Dr. Prevost. She was kind, gentle, and all my kids loved her. Unfortunately, she is transitioning into retirement and they now have a new doctor, Dr. Gibson. My experience with her was awful. If you are opposed to doing dilation in your childrens eyes, please seek another doctor. She told me she would not write me a prescription unless I agreed to dilation. I told her that just six months ago, my son had eye mapping done at a different doctor when we had better insurance and she said that she would not accept that and insisted a proper prescription needed dilation. I told her I have never had issues with any of my children refusing dilation and having issues with their prescriptions, but she wouldnt have it. Considering that my insurance benefit would be used up with this appointment and Id have to pay out of pocket for a different doctor for an exam to get his prescription, I agreed to the dilation, which lasted until the next morning and was completely unnecessary. After the dilation, she said, " oh, yes, he truly is near-sighted, and I would have been able to see more with the eye map." Seriously? To me it felt like a power-struggle with someone who felt she knew best regardless of my concerns and experience. I will not be going back there again. I only gave it 2 stars because Dr. Prevost is still there and the staff is wonderful.

I paid more than $300 out of pocket for a pair of glasses, the glasses was leaving heavy mark on one side of my nose, and the lady has no skill to make adjustment at all. She said to me she does not mind I come back to the store for further adjustments. After 5 or 6 trips to the store for adjustments, it still does not work! I am a full time employee with 2 kids and the store only open on weekdays, what a hassle. The lady said she did everything she could, she blames the frame is too heavy. She said she will call insurance company requesting reframe and call me back, but she never did and I had to call her, still on going, it is such a pain........ need call insurance company to figure out if I can return it

they are friendly but not helpful. I bought glasses from them and it took several months to get my frames and lens. then the right lens was WAY off. my prescription was fine but the lens was made wrong. I sent the glasses back after an unneeded hassle and long wait the lens was still messed up. I know its the lens bc its better than before but still off. they would not redo the lens stating it was something Id need to get used to. to top it all off the frame was returned scratched. they said theyd replace it but didnt call me back for a month and a half. I decided to cut my losses and move on. Im out $300 or so and I have glasses Im unable to wear without getting a headache.
