We went to several locations before finding NW Vet. Hospital and I cannot explain just how happy we were when we found them. They are absolutely AMAZING. I cannot stress how amazing they are. The first place we went to was Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital bc they seemed to have higher ratings DO NOT GO THERE. they were awful. The vet was so rude, their staff members are uninformed, aloof, not nice, and they traumatized my dog at their doggy day care. They will also recommend that you buy products that you do not need. this location however will allow you to call in and ask questions. There have been times where my dog does not feel well or seems off and after a conversation with the vet they will tell me to wait it ouot, or take some form of action. they do not always tell you to come in if its not serious which is helpful and i appreciate that. When you so go in the receptionist, the tech, the vet all know who you and your pet is. they keep records of how your dog behaves, what they do and dont like. They are incredible individuals and professionals. Very knowledgeable. they have a pet drop off should you need to get your pet immediate care and they will watch over your pet until you can get out of work, and i trust my dog with them 100%. there have also been times where i come in to ask that they fill out a claims form for our pet insurance and they will do it on the spot and fax it to your insurance policy for you. they dont require you to bring in anything but your claim form since they have everything else on record and will give you new copies should you need/want it. After my dog being traumatized by the other place this location has been the one place my dog feels comfortable with everyone. Hes excited to meet everyone, he will get on that cold scale all by himself so he can get the attention from the tech because hes just that comfortable with them. I cannot tell you how much i love this location. we used to go to emancipet to get our dog his annual shots just because they were a little bit cheaper and since finding this location we have stopped going there because we would rather support this location and pay a few extra dollars. I cannot stress how amazing this location is. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION! They are amazing!

I first visited Northwest Veterinary to get a second opinion for a diagnosis, and though Dr. Philips had to confirm some very bad news, his genuine concern and professional demeanor were both evident. That day, Northwest became the only place Ill take my cats ; the office visits are a bit more expensive than my previous vet, but the facility is spotlessly clean, the staff are professional, and I have never felt that doctors there would suggest tests or procedures unless they are absolutely necessary. Northwest is in business for the health and well-being of the animals they treat, and not for profit, and I am happy to say that I really trust their motives--a trust that I havent felt for the two other vets Ive been to in Austin. Northwest is also really good with cats, and they always follow up a visit with a call or two to ask how the treatment or illness is going. Ive never had vets call me before to check on their patients, and its very comforting and reassuring to know that Northwest actually wants to find out whether their treatment is actually working. If you want a vet you can trust, who treats animals with genuine concern, who is ethical when prescribing courses of treatment, and who is also forthright when discussing your pets condition, Northwest Veterinary Hospital is an excellent choice.

I first came here in 2006 with my adult cat and am still a client with my now-adult dog. Theyve been taking care of him since he was a puppy. The people here are always friendly and have helped me put my 60-lb Aussie/Border Collie/Spaniel?? mix into my car when he couldnt jump in. Recently my dog had a malignant tumor removed and Dr. Phillips, the techs, and the desk staff were extremely sympathetic and comforting. (Hes now cancer-free after Dr. Phillips performed surgery.) Dr. Phillips is not an alarmist but WILL take your pets health seriously. He is a proponent of methods that are the least invasive but still address the problem at hand. Even though they have many clients, they always seem to remember my dog. The prices are very reasonable, and you arent nickel and dimed here. Years ago, when my beloved cat had to be put down the office was incredibly kind - making a paw-print ornament for me and sending a floral arrangement. I have recommended Northwest Vet to every pet owner I know in Austin and trust them implicitly.

We took our new doberman pinscher puppy to see Dr. Lisa Harrington and absolutely LOVED her. She is very knowledgable, kind, and explained everything very thoroughly. She took so much time to answer our questions and to inform us about the breed in general with tips and suggestions. She even called the next day to see how our puppy was doing and to see if we had any other questions. We had to take our puppy back in because she wasnt responding well to the antibiotics and the doctor fit us in right before closing on a Saturday. The staff are very nice and accommodating. When I called back to make an appointment, they asked me how my puppy was doing and even knew her name. This was such a great experience. I have been to other vets who seem disinterested, and even rude to the animals. Not here - Dr. Harrington is a delight!

I recently paid my first visit to this vet hospital and they did a fantastic job. I adopted a stray cat at Christmas that Dr. Buenger ultimately determined was pregnant. He gave great advice on how to properly care for her and attend to her needs. I especially enjoyed the ultrasound equipment and actually being able to see the unborn kittens. The receptionist, veterinary assistant and doctor were all highly competent, courteous, friendly—and very importantly—gentle with our cat. Dr. Buenger even offered to help me in finding homes for all of the kittens and followed up a couple days after our visit by phone to see if they had been born yet. I have yet to meet the other vets in the office, but I will nonetheless take my pet here every time I need to.

I have a big ol rambunctious mastiff rescue and Dr. Philips and the entire team at Northwest Veterinary Hospital take the absolute best care of him. Bender can be a little overwhelming, but not for these professionals. Their knowledge, understanding, and love of animals shows through in their care. Bender has some tumor issues he is dealing with and I wouldnt trust his care to any other team but Dr. Philips and the wonderful people at Northwest Vet Hospital. On a side note, they are also great for boarding. I dont have to board Bender very often, but when I do he always comes home happy, healthy and I can tell he has been very well cared for while I was gone. I highly recommend Northwest Veterinary Hospital for the best care for your best friends.

We had been loyal customers for 6 years, but our last several experiences have convinced us to look elsewhere for our dog. It took four trips to pick up medicine we were told was ready each time but when we arrived it wasn’t. The second time I was told it was ready when I arrived and the technician left to get it and never came back. No one managed the desk for the next several minutes but the doctor popped his head out and said someone would be right with me. After several more minutes I left. Most recently I was also charged for a test that I was told was covered by the original procedure as it was a follow up test. After they did the urinalysis test, I was told it wasn’t covered and I had to pay.
