Poor order management and attitude! I provided Custom Eyes (Frisco) my new (slightly changed) prescription, for new lenses to be fitted on my existing silhouette frames on a Tuesday morning. I highlighted that I was going to be wearing my spare, outdated glasses in the interim and needed the new glasses as soon as possible : a week would be just about manageable. We had 3 subsequent phone conversations on this same day regarding some finer details of the order and I had heard “call you next week when the order was ready” On the Friday the end of the following week, 1 week and 3 days after placing the order, I called to check if my order was ready and the same rep I had originally worked with told me that my glasses were not in yet; and after checking, informed me that they would be ready the following “Thursday” ( 2 weeks and 2-3 days after my placing the order). I was surprised by this schedule slippage and the conversation was escalated to the “office manager” who indicated initially that “I had misunderstood” , that I had not “understood” the “meaning” of 7- 10 “business” days. I pointed out that firstly, the “Thursday” delivery they had just brought up was actually a few days past 7-10 “business” days. Secondly, I had heard “call you next week..” and nothing remotely resembling “call you in 2 weeks” or “call you week after next”. Besides, I had ended most conversations with something like “I look forward to getting my glasses next week, by the end of next week/ I am managing with my old prescription lenses..." I had shared my expectations repeatedly and had heard no “corrective” response to straighten any misgivings I may possibly have had regarding the schedule. The “office manager” then stated : it took 2 days to ship and reach the sub -vendor and started counting the days from the date of arrival at their sub-vendor’s location! All this ostensibly, to insist that they were not late and were doing everything right… First it was about “business” days that I had not comprehended and then it was about days that somehow got counted from the day of receipt at their sub-vendor -- a finer point that again had been beyond my ability to understand. This “office manager” also started asking me what my line of work was (!) and if I had ever been late on any deliverables ! I asked for a return of my frames and a cancellation of the order. I got no co-operation on this front and was constrained to stick with the order since I had paid about 50% already and my frames /glasses were with them. This “office manager” also actually gloated : “Have you seen OUR YELP and other online reviews … ?” Which is why, I simply had to take the time to write this review, in the consumer and public interest. Eventually, I received my new glasses 2 weeks after I had placed the order and the lenses appeared thicker and heavier than my previous set of lenses , despite a marginal change in prescription and despite going along with their topmost recommendation on the lenses material(upgrade). There may have been a valid technical reason for the thicker lenses, I do not know about that...

I was referred to Custom Eyes by a co-worker who swore they were the best. Ive got a relatively difficult prescription to fulfill given that Im "in-between" prescriptions. Suffice it to say, I went to the right place. Dr. Kim is personable, professional, and well-practiced in her craft. I couldnt be happier with my prescription. [I was using a prescription and frames that I got from a high end boutiqe in Chicago - but Dr. Kims solution is way better.] Plus we talked about my options and the future. Further, she provided advice about my long-term eye health regarding diet, exercise and supplement choices based upon evidence and support from the medical literature. The opticians are great. Its easy to make an appointment, they are friendly and humorous, rounding out the experience in a professional and friendly way. In a word, it feels hospitable. I got a very good quality lens too. I went with a very high end, lightweight lens and couldnt be happier with the quality and clarity. Its the best lens Ive ever had. And Ive used the Zeiss and other high end ones in the past. I must say, Custom Eyes truly does set itself apart from many other boutique optometrists and is in an entirely different league compared to the national chains.

I wear contacts most of the time and rarely wear Glasses. I have always got my prescription from Walmarts Vision Center who DO NOT charge separately for Glasses and Contacts Prescription. Custom Eyes did a very poor job at explaining that my prescription could only be used for Glasses and I was charged 100 bucks for a prescription I basically could not use, as I was looking for new contacts. Furthermore, I called back and asked them since I was a new customer and I was not aware of this difference, can they give me a discount on the Contacts prescription? They totally denied it, and asked me for 100 bucks more. I rejected that and went back to Vision Center who gave me a combined prescription for Glasses/Contacts for 100 bucks.

Ive worn glasses since 4th grade, have lived in 6 different states, and have changed insurances at least a dozen times. You can do the math on how many different doctors’ offices Ive visited...! My experience with Dr. Kim and her staff has been top notch since my first visit. Recently I was in need of some special assistance getting contacts after another insurance change. I won’t go into the full details, but will say that Amy and Chloe were very appreciative of the situation and they went above and beyond to make sure that I received the contacts I needed. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Kim to anyone who is in need of a great new doctor with an awesome staff!

I want to first off say I have never written a review before, but I would like to share with everyone on how delighted I was with my experience at Custom Eyes Optique & Eyecare with Doctor Kim and her staff. Their staff is always very friendly and helpful and both of the Doctors there are very polite and courteous. They also have a very large great selection of both contacts and glasses. I would recommend anyone to this office because they are on top of every customers/patients wants and needs, they do not make you wait nor do they ignore any of your question or concerns.

Finding Dr. Kim has been the best experience ever! Her professionalism and kindness sets the bar pretty high, in comparison to other places. Her willingness to make you feel comfortable and answer all your question is unique in the sense that she makes you feel at home, not like just another patient. We look forward to having Dr. Kim as our Dr. For years to come! And last but not least...her staff rocks! They are the sweetest, they make us feel like family every time!
