My family has always bad experiences when we visited this clinic. The staff there may care about pets, but they care about money more. They gave us a phoney diagnosis that our dog had severe heartworm and would die if he didnt get treatment immediately. We left and went to a different office who showed us the tests that she did and explained that our dog had no heart worms at all and only needed some antibiotics for a different issue. Needless to say that dog is still alive today. Another experience we had was when one of our neighbors poisoned a dog, and we brought him to Altas Palmas for emergency care even though it was late at night. They promised someone would be there to watch his progress and help him get through the night but obviously they lied. Not only did he die, but he was left alone in the clinic. Do not use this clinic even if its for yearly shots! Youre better off going somewhere else.

After my first time there today, I can say Dr Dittman was caring toward my dog and very knowledgeable. We discussed pro and cons of certain medications and procedures. She seemed like a quality professional vet. My only criticism would be that she never actually introduced herself to me. But my dog liked her and the vet tech both despite taking temp, drawing blood and getting vaccinations. The staff was very efficient. Apon arrival, they entered my info in their computer, had records from my previous vet faxed in and entered that info. I waited maybe 3 minutes before being taken back to the exam room. The staff answered several questions I had in a professional way when I checked out. It was a good experience. The $40 office visit plus med and lab charges were in line with previous vets I have gone to.

Worst experience of my life!! Took our 8 y/o healthy dog in for a check as he had been mopping around for a couple days. They decided to sedate him to take x-rays, determining he had arthritis in his hips. Told me initially he needed to stay and be observed because he was drooling excessively from his mouth and twitching. Claimed it was a reaction from the meds to sedate. Sent him home reassuring me it would be fine. Long story short, after multiple returns to the office because of no visible progress to getting better, less than 48 hours after initially taking him in my poor baby died in my arms on the way to emergency vet in mcallen. No concern, no explanation. Just a card a week later in the mail. Do not assume they have your pets best interest at heart. DEMAND answers and action!!!

There is not a rating low enough to express my experiences with Altas Palmas. I gave them four chances, and each time was totally unsatisfactory. The staff is unfriendly and inefficient. There no appointment necessary policy means a long wait, and your inconvenience is of no concern to the staff. Techs we encountered, with one exception, were rude and incompetent. Our dogs were treated roughly and with a total lack of compassion. On the last visit we complained about dried blood on the floor in the waiting area and were very rudely told "well, it wasnt from your dog." Prices are higher than any other vet in the area and there is absolutely no customer service. I wrote a letter of complaint and received no response. I would never recommend this clinic to anyone.

They are wonderful! They took care of our 10 pups and got the momma spayed perfectly. And it was within budget. Ive gone to a low cost vet before and it was the worst, I wont say the name but it was close to Combes and we were waiting 30 minutes before anyone acknowledged we were there turns out they were having a "party" in the back which is why no one was at the reception desk. Its true they say you get what you pay for so I wont mind pay a few extra dollars so my pets get treated well as well as myself.

We have been bringing our animals to Dr. Duran at Altas Palmas Animal Clinic for many years. He is very patient, gentle, and takes his time with companion animals. He is very thorough in his examination, and has a special touch with our cats. We have also had a very good experience with Dr. Putnam. The facility is clean, up to date, the atmosphere professional. All the vets are dedicated, but we usually ask to see Drs Duran and Putnam.

They almost killed one of my dogs for lack of diagnosis. They prescribed my dog pills for indigestion which had nothing to do with him and charged me 250 dollars. Long story short and 4,000 later my pup survived no thanks to these neglegent Vetanarians. And watch ur bills when u go for an appointment because the staff likes to and sometimes $50 - $100 dollars extra to your bill.

Rangel told me to bring my cat back for a procedure, without even examining him or discussing differential Dx. Gave ABTx & had nerve to charge $70; $40 for (no) examination. Disrespectful rip off. Also exam table & scale dirty. Not going back, ever. Its all about the $$$.

I think the veterinarians are very friendly and caring to your pets but they charge a lot more than they say they are. they like to charge extra for unspecified reason but I still love the service

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE: I got to the clinic 2 minutes late, they said they would charge over $220 office visit, plus whatever my puppy needed, since it was "AFTER HOURS." MY GOODNESS.... REALLY?!?!
