Dr. Llanos is seemingly knowledgeable when it comes to basic (and I mean very basic; i.e. ADHD and generalized anxiety conditions) psychiatric treatment and care, but PATIENT BEWARE: If you confide ANY unusual or rare symptoms to him he will use the most unethical and potentially reputation damaging methods to have your treatment terminated. If you decide to risk it because you need treatment and hes always accepting patients; I highly recommend that you keep records of EVERYTHING! Since having my treatment suddenly terminated by him I have had major trust issues with mental health care providers and have developed a bad habit of secretly recording all mental health care sessions. Sadly youd be surprised that Llanos practicing methods of providing subpar and questionable mental healthcare is all too common in TX psychiatry. Theres something about psychiatrist being in high demand and low supply right now that unfortunately has the Texas Medical Board turning their collective head; ignoring or even justifying the accusations that are being leveled against these half-assed excuses for MDs; allowing them to get away with tactics that would otherwise be considered medical malpractice in any other medical field. So if you plan on filing a complaint against a psychiatrist, the burden of proof will ultimately be on you the patient. Despite the fact that I had adequate proof of Llanos "patient abandonment" the TMB refused to pursue action against him; however as his accusations against me COULD have been very damaging to my pharmaceutical records, (regarding controlled prescriptions) I DID provide enough proof to negate his claims of ignorance when he told a pharmacist that he had no idea that I had a standing prescription on file and that he would have NEVER prescribed the Extended Release version if I had advised him of this fact. Fortunately I had copies of my initial intake forms which stated my original and current medications as well as his handwritten note on his own letterhead that provided proof my advisement and his knowledge of my prescription status, as he had personally written for me to stop the use of the immediate release version and begin taking the extended version ASAP. While considered insufficient proof by the medical board, it was more than enough to redeem my good standing with my pharmacy (who upon presentation of these documents made a notation indicating a "physicians error" next to an otherwise detrimental notation on my controlled RX history) as well as my primary care physician (who immediately took over prescribing the original IR version of my medication once she had reviewed the irrefutable evidence of his neglect and false allegations against me). In other words, everyone else looked at the facts as presented and saw his blatant malpractice, while the TMB simply reviewed my complaint and replied by saying that "It is the necessary responsibility of the patient to comply with the doctors orders in order to maintain the mutual trust within the establishment of a cordial patient/physician relationship." A reply which neither addressed the reason for the complaint nor offered a satisfactory resolution. Please follow the essential practice of keeping originals and/or copies of ALL intake forms, records, notes, emails and prescriptions from these "medical professionals" who decided half-way through med school that they couldnt cut the requirements of specializing in any physical medical field, so they changed their majors to become poor excuses for financially inconvenient, incompetent pill-dispensing doctors. Please dont misunderstand the purpose of this rant against Llanos and psychiatrists like Llanos; Ive had (few and far between) encounters with professional psychiatrists who seem to genuinely have my best interests at heart, but speaking overall (from seven years old to 30 years old) my experience with these "professionals" has been repetitively disappointing to say the least (Llanos being close to, if not topping the list). Please heed my warnings regarding psychiatrists in general.

After waiting a month to get an scheduled appointment on 11-20-2013 at 8:00 am with a Dr. Ariel De Llanos MD at Focus & Balance, I was only turned away. The VERY rude receptionist stated when I arrived at 7:50 that they could not see me because I did not have the Coverage on my Insurance. I stated to her that I was FULLY covered through my insurance and their company was listed in the network. The receptionist stated that she "tried calling several times yesterday to Blue Cross Blue shield to verify my coverage but they kept hanging up on her and the online website was down." Upset I walked off and called Blue Cross Blue Shield myself and double verified my FULL COVERAGE without any problems getting through to a representative. I then spoke to the receptionist and stated that " I am fully covered, I just spoke with my insurance company on the phone." She stated that they could not see me because they needed my insurance company to fax over a copy of my benefits. I then asked "why didnt you call me and inform me that there was an issue yesterday with my insurance? Why have me drive all the way over here to my Appt. just to tell me that you could not see me?" I then asked to speak with a supervisor and state my issue. I stated that the appt has been sched for over a month and the office waited until the day before my appt to verify my insurance. The supervisor told the receptionist to call my insurance or have me call and verify them over the phone. The receptionist then stated to the supervisor "well her appt was at 8:00 am and it is now 8:30...we are going to have to reschedule her." The supervisor stated to me "we are going to have to reschedule you, and our next availability is 2 and 1/2 weeks away." I was so mad and frustrated I stated "I will just find another Dr." The business is unbearably unprofessional and rude. I want reviews of their practice to reflect on service they give their patience. I would never recommend this facility to anyone. If a Drs office cannot treat their patience with respect and are not good willed then they should not be in practice. Do not use them unless you want to get the run around and waste your time.

OK, reading these youll find 5 stars or 1 star... theres a simple reason and it will remain to be so for - as far as I can tell - indefinitely... Dr. Dellanos and his PA are very good, while his office staff are just down right exasperating. 1) They NEVER get billing correct (there are several "flavors" of TriCare, but they ALWAYS assume Prime or Std) they NEVER just take the 2 seconds to just call or open the web portal showing member benefits and appropriate charges! BE PREPARED TO STAND UP AND FORCE THEM TO CORRECTLY DO THEIR JOB- they will in the end back down when you prove youre correct, but act like theyre the ones doing you a favor by getting it correct. example: I have 2 daughters that go here, took both- same day... consecutive appointments... walked out... "thatll be $18" (for the first child), 45min later... "thatll be $32, please"... were like WTF? Are you on crack? Then told, oh, its different insurances... Lady, we have only 1 insurance in the family! 2) You need to be seen quickly- not going to happen... in fact, YOU better not be 10 min late to an appointment, but Ive never been there and waited less than 30-45- sometimes 2+hours to be seen. 3) They will abruptly call and reschedule your appointment that youve been waiting on for months - not a request - an FYI... oh, youll be out of needed medication - so sorry, see you in a month (instead of tomorrow)! IDK if this is atypical or not, but, its difficult to find places taking patients within your insurance network! But, as I stated, Dr D and his PA are very good. no complaints there.
