This has to be the worst place I have ever dealt with. I adopted a dog from the henrico pound and they send the animals to this clinic to be fixed before they can come home with you. So as I was instructed I picked up our new family member Tuesday afternoon and paid for her surgery and shot got home next day thought the dog looked pained she was breathing hard ... I called I didnt get a response for 2 days I took her in fri afternoon they prescribed my dog pain meds and pepcide ac. I paid them again and took my dog home Saturday morning my dog was having diarrhea and vomiting I stopped the pain meds hoping she would get better but she didnt all weekend long she threw up and had diarrhea and refused to eat I called Sunday night leaving a voicemail hoping my call would be returned Monday morning but nothing my dog was just throwing up so bad I put her in the car and drove to the clinic they gave her fluids and nausea meds and prescribed an antibiotic saying she might have an infection I paid them again and was told to come back next day so today I go back they give her more fluids and more nausea meds and tell me I should deworm her maybe she got worms and if that didnt work I could pay 106 more dollars for blood work I paid for her meds not having answers and still a sick dog . They called me because my bank card was left behind I told them my dog was still Ill that nothing they had done was working and I had spent 600 dollars in a week and I was running out of money I was told I needed to think about how much I wanted to keep spending and that if I wasnt comitted to this pet I should give her back to the pound. I was very upset I was doing all I could to be responsible for my dog paying for every treatment they told me to and taking home a very sick dog every day. I asked the clinic to run a parvo test on my dog and I was told no that they didnt have parvo in there clinic but said that they would talk to the vet after surgery and see what she said but I needed to just give her the antibiotics and worming meds I said if she cant eat or keep anything down pills wont do any good. She said I would be called back. When I got the call back tonight I was told she could come in for longer fluids tomorrow when I picked up my bank card but I again should think about all the money I was willing to put into her because I hadnt paid that much so far so I should be thankful they are low cost I couldnt get that at a full service vet.. I cut her off and let her know I actually was at a full service vet as we spoke she said o good please let us know what there opinion is. I paid 172 dollars tonight at a regular vet office where my dog had some test run she doesnt have worms of any kind she was in heat when they spayed her and she needed a different kind of antibiotic she needed something for the diarrhea a nausea pill and flea treatment and she needed a special prescription food with instructions on how to slowly introduced food to her with meds and along with the special antibiotics hopefully she would turn the corner next step Is parvo testing and praying it isnt that. So praying for our poor dog to make a full recovery and I am positive this place wont treat another pet of mine sadly we didnt get to choose what place did the surgery if so it would have been a regular vet.... these people should be ashamed.

The first time I brought a dog to this clinic for a neuter, he came back with a raging case of kennel cough. Despite that (happened almost two years ago), I brought a second dog in yesterday. The dog came from the shelter, where hed been for nearly 8 months. Id spent three weeks getting him calm from that experience, building trust with him. Had the appt. at Jessica Beath set for approx. three weeks (I called immediately after I adopted him). Was told when setting the appt. that pickup time is between 4-5 p.m. Was told the same during confirmation call the day before surgery. So, came in to pick up my dog at 4. The receptionist went back to find his records, came back out and told me they hadnt gotten to him yet and how about I come back at 6? Well, first of all, my heart was breaking that this particular dog ended up being warehoused all day with no food or water. That was my main concern. But, the logistics of my day were such that I could not wait or come back at 6 (I live an hour from the clinic and was juggling a horse with a vet emergency the same day). I said I needed to take the dog. Receptionist went back to get him. Few minutes later, I hear a TREMENDOUS ruckus in the back: the sound of an animal thrashing around in a metal kennel. That sound was followed by two women screaming at each other. The f-word was used many times during the altercation. After a while, the receptionist came out and handed me my dog-- who did not look right. She told me (after I asked) that the f-bomb thrower was a volunteer who didnt want to give the dog up because they were prepping him for surgery. So, they were fighting over my dog. HOW WERE THEY HANDLING MY DOG in that moment????? I would sincerely like to know!!!!!! Second, it came out that he had pre-op drugs put in him -- and it wasnt until I FINALLY got a vet out there that I found out what they gave him. How much did they give him? What were the recovery instructions for that? This information, I never did get. But the vet said to me, "I can take him back and just do it right now." And I was like, are you insane? I asked if my dog was safe there that day-- because I sincerely believe he was NOT. And there was no way on Gods green one that I was handing this dog back into their care, so that they could rush through a procedure and chuck him out the door just because they knew I was waiting ... and absolutely furious. And heartbroken. They re-traumatized my dog. I will NEVER go back there, under any circumstance, with any animal. My vet has heard about this, every rescue group I know who uses them has heard about this, and every friend I have who loves dogs has heard about it. Now you have. Barrons Surgery in Richmond is a good alternative. For me, Im paying full price for a neuter at my vets office -- there is no way I can possibly bring this dog back into a clinic situation. I have no idea what happened to him.

I had my dog neutered there on March 9th. I dropped him off at 830am and he was not done until 230!! That is a long time to have an animal go with out food or water!! The communication was AWFUL! I called numerous times to check on my pet only to get an answering machine. When i finally did reach someone, she advise that i not call and that they will call me when my dog is ready. When i went to pick up my dog the rude Amanda( who was eating a bowl of spaghetti) said my dog was not ready for pick up, she just simply called to let me know that he was done. Both when i dropped him off AND when she stated DONT CALL ME ILL CALL YOU that my dog would be ready, he was not so i had to wait another 30 minutes to get my dog, when i did it appeared that he had not been neutered. I called the next day only to leave again multiple messages, no answers., I finally get to speak with someone and in the middle of my statement Amanda cuts me off and says she did in fact call me and leave me a long message regarding my dog(which i never received a call ) then she told that my dog was neutered but he was just swollen. I am relived to hear that but the way the treat and communicate with their customers is wrong on many levels. I advised her that i would be contacting the BBB and she said great you do that and hung up on me! That orange paper they give you is not enough to answer your questions!!! They should have a LVT discharge you with your animal to go over post op care!! I did in fact contact the BBB and im currently waiting on a response. I have asked that my money be refunded as I am 100% completely dissatisfied with their service and how the treat their customers. UPDATE: I know have to take my dog to another vet and pay another office fee because he is coughing!!!! No amount of money savings is worth this place.
