My mother had a pretty large heart attack and was in a local rehab hospital. Though she was living independently before the attack we had serious concerns regarding her ability to care for herself once she was going to be released home. Not being local, I took a friends recommendation and contacted Home Instead. The person on the phone was extremely helpful and arranged to do a home visit with me and my mother. Cheryle came out to the house and spent a good 2 hours talking to us about our needs, easing any concerns that we may have had about obtaining in-home services and mentioned several times that they (Home Instead) was the best at what they do. We inquired about their immediate availability (within a week) and were told that it would not be a problem. I phoned the next day to confirm that we wanted to proceed with services and faxed over all the paperwork. Though Cheryl wasnt available at the time Brittany (the Admin Assistant) assured me that we were assigned a case worker and that everything was good for Saturday. I didnt receive a call back from Cheryl that afternoon. The next day I rang them again to make sure everything was set for Saturday and mentioned that I had questions that I wanted to discuss with Cheryl. I was assured that plans were set and was told that Cheryl would get back to me. She didnt. Friday I phoned again, rather irritated. I mentioned to Brittany that we really needed the help and that I didnt have other options lined up. I was upset to not get a call back and said that I just needed to know if they couldnt come... that way I could make sure someone was there to help my mom until we found other help. NO CALL BACK! Not surprising by now to figure.... NO ONE showed up on Saturday when we had hoped to expect someone (and mom was released home). Thanks to Home Instead, we hadnt secured other options and the family had to jump through hoops to make sure she had care. I am SHOCKED that this place can call themselves care providers and am even more shocked that their reps consider themselves "the best". Fortunately for us, we had family backup.... but for many they would have been left high and dry. DO NOT USE THESE FOLKS if you care about your loved ones.... Home Instead obviously doesnt!!!!!!!!!

We engaged Home Instead to sit with my mother-in-law 24 hours a day after she had a number of falls. Home Instead provided round the clock coverage woking closely with the staff of her assisted living facility to ensure that she had someone there all the time. My mother-in-law quickly let us know that she had a few favorites: Emily, Melissa H. (whom she called "the beautiful one"), and Carolyn. She developed a deep and loving attachment to Emily, in particular, who became her best friend. Emily demonstrated tender, loving and compassionate care for her to an extraordinary degree. She dealt with my mother-in-law in an elegant way that acknowledged her exceptional intelligence and tightly held independence but still provided the safe and secure feeling that my mother-in-law craved as she experienced increasing confusion and physical disability. Emily made a difference to my mother-in-laws life in big and little ways. She seemed to know how important my mother-in-laws appearance had been to her as she made sure to have her dressed impeccably for any event (a family meal or the Christmas party). But, perhaps the biggest difference she made, was the way in which she brought laughter back into my mother-in-laws life. We will be forever grateful for the gift of seeing her smile and enjoy life again. We and the Home Instead team shared vigil during the last week of my mother-in-laws life. And when, on the last day, we were unable to get to her bedside because of a huge snowstorm, we took comfort in knowing that she died holding her "best friend" Emilys hand. We thank the Home Instead staff and, most particularly, Emily for making her last months and days better.

I wouldnt use anyone else!! I want to share my experience with Home Instead Senior Care because I know what it feels like to be deeply concerned about who goes into your mother and fathers home and how they are being treated (behind the scenes). I cannot overstate how kind, patient, upbeat, respectful and compassionate Ann (the Home Instead caregiver) is as she cares for my mother who suffers with dementia. She takes my mother for walks, engages her in activities, shares pleasant conversation, and even took her to have her hair done. While she doesnt remember her name, my mother does remember the kind lady who comes to visit her. I am deeply grateful Home Instead--thank you!

The caregiver that regularly attends my father makes such a difference in his life. He engages Dad in conversation and looks after him like family. His caregiver and the support of other Home Instead staff are enabling my Dad to continue to live in my home and experience a high quality of life.

My aunt is very happy with all of the aides who care for her. They are adaptable to the schedule we need. The people I speak with at the main office are always friendly and helpful as well.
