Although the actual vets are wonderful and the rates are not nearly as high as other vets around the District (and it is obvious they arent aiming to rip you off), the customer service isnt so great. It often takes a ridiculous amount of time to be acknowledged by whoever is at the front desk, and then it takes another ridiculous amount of time to do something like...pay! Once the appointment is over, we might stand there and wait for another 15 minutes before we can pay and leave. In addition, we moved out of state for about a year and a half, moved back, and returned to Hometown with all vet and vaccination records. Im not sure what they actually do with these records because weve brought them copies and had them faxed several times and they still cant get it right! If I called today asking when and if my dogs needed any vaccinations, they would tell me they need several, and they needed them 3 years ago! Get it together! We give you the papers. Utilize them. Again, we love the vets, but we also rely on them to be able to tell us when and if our dogs needs checkups, shots, etc, so that we can keep them healthy. If they cannot do that, we will have to find another vet that can!

OFFICE STAFF NEEDS SOME CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING...BADLY! I heard that Hometown had taken care of the First Pets and thought that they would be a good choice. I have been going there about a year. The office staff is very rude and they all seem too busy and quite dismissive. Also, their rates are very high for a small clinic. Since you deal with the front desk more than the Drs., I am going someplace else. One girl by the name of Kim is the snippiest of all. She is always too busy and speaks to me as though I am an idiot. Which, I am not. Also, my dogs condition was misdiagnosed by one of the Drs. and I figured out what the correct condition was by doing the research on the internet. It was confirmed by another vet and now we have a plan that we are on. It turned out that I could have had surgery and that would have been a mistake. Always do your own research, as Drs. are just too busy running a business to be an expert on your pet. You have to be. Find another place that has the time and concern to help you with your best friend.

I took my dogs here for their check ups and vaccinations, as we are new to the area, and this place came recommended. I was happy with the visit, so we decided to board our dogs there for five days while my husband and I went on a trip. Well, they clearly didnt follow the instructions I left for feeding them, because my one dog went in at 19 lbs. and came back to me after only five days at 22 lbs., and the other one has been sick with god knows what, and cant stop pooping. My husband called to file a complaint, and we got a lot of lip service apologies, but they refused to refund us any portion or offer a future service at a discount. These people have $500 of my money, so apparently they dont feel the need to try to rectify their mistakes. Im so mad and upset. We will not be going back to these people. And clearly, they dont care much about their customers or the actual animals.

Dr. Carlson is AMAZING! I had been looking for a new vet, and had wanted to do a meet and greet prior to Darby going in for an appointment. She hurt her paw, and I wasnt able to get into her old vet, so I called to see if Hometown could get us in. They could that afternoon, being a new patient, I was worried they would rush through the appointment. Dr. Carlson not only took the time to look at her paw and come up with a game plan, she discussed other issues I had been concerned about and some she was. We set a plan in motion and shes been great every time weve seen her. I am so happy with the practice that when my in-laws moved I immediately said I have the vet for you! The front staff is kind and efficient, I dont have to wait a long time to check out, which I did at my old vet. Highly recommend them!

My 7 year old cat needed a tooth extracted. The doctor suggested a complete dental at the same time, since the cat would be under anesthesia. I agreed, and my pet was treated. The whole process was easy, with a quick drop off in the morning, followed by a pick up in early afternoon. The post-op instructions were clear, the medication provided relieved pain, and I was encouraged to call with any concerns. The facility is clean and bright, and the staff is friendly and obviously animal lovers. The doctor was calm in her demeanor and clear with her instructions and explanation of the procedure. I will only use this vet from now on.

Hometown Veterinary Clinic is the second home for my pets. Since I was referred to Dr. Smith in 2001 all three of my doggies have been cared for by her or one of her veterinarians. I have never considered making a change. Dr. Smith is a well educated veterinarian and is extremely conscientious in the diagnosis and treatment decisions she makes for our pets. Also, she makes each pet a friend. Her staff is efficient and friendly. Recently my current pet, Sophie, visited Dr. Smiths new boarding facility for six days and left happy and looking good (Jesse groomed her very well). I highly recommend Hometown Veterinary Clinic.

I was fortunate to find a Vet who could quickly get my dog his Bordotella vaccine prior to our vacation. Our original Vets office did not have power due to the storm. I was fortunate to get an appt in the same day. Also, the guy receptionist was nice enough to tell me the prices for the exam and the vaccine. Dr. Brook was great! The last vet office had to hold my dog down because he was afraid but, with her, she backed him up and cuddled up to him in the floor while she did the exam and the vaccine. She was sweet and he seemed to have calmed down by the time she gave him the vaccine. We may have a new vet for our future appts.

We absolutely love Hometown Veterinary Clinic and Hometown Bed & Biscuits!! Weve been taking our dog to the clinic since he was a puppy -- the office staff is very efficient and the vets are fantastic! Its awesome that they opened Hometown Bed & Biscuits so now we have total one-stop shopping for our pets. Its great to be able to get grooming, playtime and boarding all at a place that knows and loves our dog. The facility is absolutely gorgeous and they take such good care of Theo; he starts going crazy as soon as I pull into the parking lot!!

Ive been taking our cats to Hometown Vet for a long time, and my wife since she moved in, and weve always been very impressed with the professional staff and excellent vets they have there; and they are also very helpful with referrals to specialists. When discussing my pets issues, I always feel like the vets talk to me on my level; when I can go deeper in the details, theyre happy to explain them to that level. The staff are kind and treat the animals with a lot of compassion and respect. Well be going back there as long as we live in the area.
