Came here a few weeks ago because Dr Anderson and Sheppards office are not preferred providers for our insurance and we felt they were aggressive with treatment options. Our family dentist recommended Carilion because she heard good things about the pediatric dentists that are there. We never met them so cannot comment about that- BUT can comment on our treatment in the waiting area with the front desk staff and their crazy forms they want you to sign. Waiting area is dirty. Front desk ladies are disturbingly rude. Their forms are unacceptable for any parent to EVER sign. (see photos) One of their "behavior techniques " is as follows: HAND OVER MOUTH EXERCISE- The disruptive screaming child is told that a hand will be placed over their mouth. When the hand is in place, the dentist speaks directly into the childs ear and tells the child that if the noise stops, the hand will be removed. When the noise stops, the hand is removed and the child is praised for cooperating..... Im sorry- but no one is doing this to my child. And they want you to initial this form like you agree to it. We left. UPDATE:So I wanted to be fair and add an update to my review. Our moms group on Facebook reports that this clinic have finally changed the forms. Reported by a mom referred for deep sedation for her kid from dental office in Christiansburg- she had to fill out new parent paperwork and posted it on Facebook. Looks like the scary stuff is gone and a more realistic approach has been adopted. So I have deleted the pic of the old forms . Should we hear any different I will repost. To be fair I have also changed my star rating from a one star to a three star due to the other issues mentioned in the original post.

Scheduling is a nightmare. Billing an even bigger racket. They sent me a bill before my insurance ever paid them. The manager that spoke with me - Lisa Russel - said- well why did you pay it ?- like I should have known motto pay their bill until they got paid from my insurance?! I asked her why she sent me a bill before they even got paid from insurance. She couldnt seem to answer my question. Unprofessional!

Front desk receptionist that has been there for years is extremely rude and very very unprofessional. Also like every other review the consent forms are unbelievable!!! As a parent you feel obligated to initial the forms but Ive always been able to go back with my kids and Dr. Jones has always been polite and good to my kids.

Very friendly and professional service. State of the art equipment and great hygienist. I liked how they were respectful of my wishes to avoid the usual fluoride treatments (toxic!) without any argument at all unlike other places I have been.
