To understand the true significance of this review, you must know a little bit about my eyesight and its’ history. My left eye has been 20/400 forever, because of a trauma injury. Several years ago, I began to develop three serious problems in my other eye, any of which could leave me really screwed. They are an occlusion, glaucoma, and a cataract. My vision got so bad that I could only see light and color, no shapes or functional vision. I couldn’t read, watch TV, or see faces beyond a couple of feet. I had gone back to school and just after graduating, I went on disability for legal blindness. First up was the cataract surgery, and to say I was in a precarious position would be an understatement. I would have only one shot at a successful outcome for the “complex and high risk” surgery. If the surgery was not a success, the occlusion and the glaucoma wouldn’t even matter anymore. A bad outcome from the cataract surgical procedure would be a killer. I researched all I could find about Dr. Jennifer Lee, her education, training, and experience. Sadly, I know from a lifetime of conversations with my father and brother, who are both doctors, that like most professions, most doctors are terrific, but some are hackers. If ever there was a time that I needed to nail a decision, this was it. To let you know how things came out, I will paraphrase my retinal specialist ophthalmologist, from another clinic, who admires Dr. Jennifer Lee’s work every time he sees me. He tells me her work was beautiful. I even have a stent in my eye – it is tiny and out of sight. I can’t tell you how good it makes me feel to hear something like that from a peer of Dr. Lee, who has nothing to gain by praising her work. My eye with the cataract went from no functional vision and only light and color to 20/30 with correction. That is a walk off grand slam; it’s an overtime goal in game seven; it’s intercepting the ball at the goal line in the Super Bowl (sorry, I’m from Boston). Now, I can receive successful treatment for the occlusion, and Dr. Lee and I are working to find the answer for my glaucoma. Actually, she is doing the work, but I now have options. My eyesight is very close to being stabilized, and when that happens, I can go off disability and begin my new career. Maybe there are other doctors who could have done this for me, but the fact is that Dr. Jennifer Lee is the one who did it. I had only one roll of the dice, and I came up a winner. One more thing that I found out recently was the amount of the Medicaid payment that Dr. Lee received for performing my surgical procedure. From my father and brother, I learned that many doctors do not accept Medicaid patients because the payment from the government is a small fraction of an insurance or private payment. Those doctors that do accept Medicaid patients are doing so as a public service, so those low income individuals do not get overlooked for care. Now, not only do I have the greatest respect for the professionalism and skill of Dr. Jennifer Lee, but I know of her sincere sense of altruism toward her patients and community. I am treated by Dr. Jennifer Lee for the big decision appointments, and Dr. Joseph Lee monitors my progress through regular appointments and answers my many questions. Having a little bit of medical experience, I am a terrible pest for him, but he graciously explains things to me, so that I really do understand my progress. The office staff is unfailingly polite and helpful, never missing a beat and expediting my experience flawlessly. The school program from which I recently graduated was a quasi-medical program of occupational therapy. I did fieldworks in a skilled nursing facility, hospital, psychiatric ward, school system, adult day health center, and pediatric outpatient clinic; I have seen enough of healthcare delivery to develop an informed opinion. All roads lead to Washington Pacific Eye Associates.

Dr Lee is professional, caring, and most of all a VERY excellent and thorough eye doctor. I had to have cataract surgery on both eyes at a very young age due to heredity. It was a very complicated surgery as the cataracts had grown through the back of the lens. I interviewed other eye doctors regarding the delicate nature of my anatomy. None were more forthcoming than Dr Lee. I asked for information about how many surgeries with this type of complication that she had performed, she told me no problem, her staff would be happy to provide me a list of references. She was not afraid of revealing anything to make sure I knew that she was competent to tackle this tough case. She performed both operations. She was always understanding when she had to do a test that was uncomfortable. She practices medicine with a rare empathy and love toward her patients. If I ever have any issues that require immediate attention, she has always made room for me to be seen within her schedule. Dr Lee and her staff made the whole experience much less scary than it could have been. Every time I needed any assistance, it was always forthcoming. Her office staff are always pleasant and courteous. I would highly recommend Dr Lee to anyone. I am always the first to speak up and let my friends and relatives who require eye attention know that I have found the best eye doc ever. -Karen Pooley

The work they do is fine, but they do not take the care to understand ones insurance before making promises about costs. Although they claim it is their policy not to make guarantees, they made a guarantee to me that getting an eye exam in addition to my medical visit would not cost me anything extra. I even asked them twice just to make sure I wouldnt get a surprise bill later. But what happened? A few months later I got a surprise bill for the service anyway. I called and they offered a 35% reduction, but this is just what they do for people who dont have insurance, so it barely even counts as something they did to make up for my situation. I wouldnt have even taken the service had they accurately told me its cost to begin with. It amazed me (in a bad way) how on the phone today they kept repeating that it is their policy to not make guarantees. Its like they think the policy to not make guarantees overrules the fact that they did make me a guarantee. Very frustrated that Im being forced to pay that bill just because theyre in the power position to demand payment.

Dr. Jessica Lee is a wonderful ophthalmologist. She is caring, warmhearted, friendly and above all professional and knowledgeable. My husband and I are her patients for two years now. We are more than satisfied with the care and professional expertise that dr. Jessica Lee provides in every visit. The most impressive piece of our experience with Dr. Jessica Lee is her care for our 4 years old daughter. Our daughter got her cornea badly scratched a month ago; she was in pain, scared and crying. We got an appointment right away. Besides her professional, skillful and medically competent manner that she approached the issue Dr. Lee was absolutely wonderful with our daughter. She was very patient, smiling and talking with her all the time. By the end of the visit our daughter was utterly fascinated by Dr. Lee, hugging and kissing her on our way out. Dr. Jessica Lee is genuinely emphatic and compassionate which is an exceptional quality. Thank you Dr. Lee for your sincere care, it is greatly appreciated. I highly recommend Dr. Jessica Lee.
