My experience with Dr. Borzio was very unpleasant. I didnt want to make assumptions but there is another review on Yelp claiming that Dr. Borzio is racist and tries to get as much money out of you as possible and I agree. Dr. Borzio was outrageously rude to me the entire time. The moment I walked into the office, he was unsmiling and cold. He even yelled at me when I asked his opinion on something. This is a detailed account of my visit: I was looking for advice on treating my dogs issue and I also wanted to request a specific medication that I had researched. He dismissed what I asked for and suggested a similar product that works slower and must be administered every day as opposed to once a month. It was also no safer than the product I requested. On my way out, I realized his office sells the product he was recommending and he just wanted me to buy from him instead of getting a prescription I would use somewhere else. Also, I prefer to take a natural approach to things whenever possible and he was condescending when I mentioned the research Ive done on a safer alternative to worm medication, which is toxic. He had never even heard of the alternative that is recommended by various sources (diatomaceous earth). When I asked about including a product I was already using in the regimen he suggested, he snapped at me "You can do whatever you like! THIS is what Im recommending!" and slammed the products on the table. He answered all of my questions with an attitude. At no point did I ever outright reject his recommendations. I love my dog, so I asked questions to make sure I had all the information I needed to make a responsible decision. I bought two products from him and, when I got home, I realized he gave me incorrect information about one of them. He said i could spray it on my floors and all around the house but then read the label, which warned against spraying it on furniture and wood floors. I am timid and I feel he noticed that and tried to intimidate me. Overall, I left feeling bullied and wondering why I was treated so differently than the people who wrote such raving reviews.

I rescue cats that I see in the streets that are sickly or distressed with my own money...I found a paralyzed kitty which was very sweet, she was underweight and scooted around. I decided to try a new place for her care, north side...Bad Decision, as soon as I brought her in and explained what happened dr. Borzio said "what is this a mangy street cat"? I couldnt believe his tone...Is this how you speak with patients? He was very sarcastic and had no bedside manner, I asked him please give her fluids and a I would like an x ray...He refused to give me either one!! ..I couldnt believe it...he sends me home with a bottle of liquid vitamins and ear mite drops!! Are you kidding me??...it was like he didnt even want to go near her, and she had No fleas!...i wondered what kind of vet this guy is..has no idea how to help a cat that fell on hard times...unbelievable...sad to say, the cat died a few days later, had she got those fluids and x ray at that time, things would have been different...although I do blame myself a bit, because as soon as I walked out of there, I should have went to a better vet one that actually cares and would have given her the treatment she needed, again I dont know who gets treated well in this place, but if you bring a cat from off the street who needs help DO NOT go to this place...they dont know how to treat them...go to the Greater Vet Hospital instead, or South Shore, where qualified people can help, I wish I did...

The staff is first rate, the doctor has the patience of a Saint, Ive discovered nirvana in a pet hospital that Ive driven by hundreds of times before. My 3 babies made me look bad with their behavior and I rattled on like a nut because my 12-1/2 year old SweePea gave a stool sample like she was giving the middle finger ;-) Not even blinking an eye Dr. Borzio stopped trimming her nails, cleaned the mess, grabbed a sample on the way, and was back to what he does. My 105 pound labrador-hound was another story, but these tiny ladies who were assistants picked him up like he was a feather. I was extremely impressed. My dogs may have their opinion, but, Dr. Borzio is only making sure they live long, healthy lives... and thats perfect for me! Top notch service from Shawn, the best Ive ever had the pleasure to deal with in my veterinarian experience.

Having recently moved back to the U.S. after many years living in Greece, it was time for me to choose a new veterinarian for my three great Greek cats. I am very pleased to say that Dr. Borzio and Dr. Salemi, as well as every staff person at NSA, have been welcoming, kind, extra competent and made us all feel at home from the very first contact. Just yesterday, my only boy, Mr. Peter Pempti, needed a canine tooth extracted. Everything went perfectly! I have complete trust in, and gratitude for, the doctors expertise, compassion, vast knowledge and experience. This is true for every office and tech person as well. Thank you Donna, Brianna, Jamie and Sean, I hope Ive got all of you spelled correctly! And thanks also for collaborating with the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance. May All Beings Live With Love!

I have been using Northside Animal Hospital, since we first came out to Staten island, and that was in 1988 or 1989, Dr. Salemi and Dr. Borzio always go above and beyond, they treat your pet with respect and love. I even had a guinea pig that refused to eat, and we took him in to see Dr. Borzio, who even cut up a bit of his own lunch to see if he could get him to eat. I would never recommend any vet other than Northside. if you love your pet, this is the place to be Oh wait, his support staff are all the nicest group of people that I have ever met, if you are bringing a pet in for visit, if you go to the Howl-oween parade, to visit Santa at the vets or if you meet in the street, all are great. I love Northside and everyone there.

My first Husky girl, Tymber, was a patient at Northside and with their help she lived to a ripe old age of 16. Almost unheard of for a pure breed husky!! When I got my current Husky girl, Duchess, we brought her to Northside the day after we picked her up, just to insure that she was healthy and happy. Dr Borzio and Dr Salemi have always been very kind and helpful answering all my questions and helping me understand how to best help my furry babies. Sean, (who basically runs the office) is also extremely knowledgeable and so accomodating. Every time I call the office with a question or a concern they ALWAYS help, even if they have to call me back with the answer!!

Highly recommended. My dog Harley was a client of Dr. Borzio & Dr. Salemi for 14 years and passed away in 2006, the office staff was wonderful to me and my family with her loss, they treated her like one of their family. It took me a long time to get another dog and recently just 6 weeks ago we adopted Gracie, a lab/mix and the first thing I did was bring her to Dr. Salemi and he remembered me and my girl Harley, that is the kind of people they are. I will always bring my animals to them and recommend them to everyone who needs a vet. The office staff are wonderful and always helpful, are able to answer any question you may have.
