Where do I begin!!!!! On 1/7 my father was admitted to the VA hospital and we are lucky to say hes alive today!!! And believe me it was not because of his high level of care !!! Incompetent nurses and lazy on there cell phones and on 6 north could of careless if my father lived or died. What my family saw was unbelievable!!! Not a nurse to be found!!! When my father was in distress!!! His oxygen was not even connected to the wall. It was left unconnected from his last breathing treatment and when I tried to tell the nurse he couldnt breath she said he was in no distress " Her Words"!!!!! His Bed was soaked with blood and antibiotics because his IV was not properly put in he had blood all over the IV I mentioned it to a nurse and again they saw no problem!!!! My father had Septic Shock and Pneumonia and a very high fever!!! I was told by a nurse who came to find me In Intensive Care because now he was put on a ventilator with a breathing tube down his throat and a pic line in his heart to get blood. The only one nurse came down to ICU to tell my family our father had SEPTIC SHOCK and should of been admitted to ICU instead they put him on 6 North!!!!!this nurse did not want to be named as did all of the nurses who called them lazy and incompetent because they would lose there jobs. But I know every single nurse who told me about 6 north!! What a nightmare!!!! My father almost died from the hands of those incompetent lazy nurses!!!!! And I was told they were incompetent and lazy by many many nurse in ICU and on the 7th floor. I have been trying to get answers from the nursing director but she found this not to be a very big problem. My father had a breathing tube down his throat for 5 days and we had to watch while he was sedated and every now and then he would open his eyes and cry because he didnt know what was happening to him. He was in this horror for 21/2 weeks. It was a nightmare from day one. And they are trying now to cut his social security benefits because he was denied a partial wavier of the bill. I just wish I could sit with Mr. James Cody and let him know just how inhumane my father was treated. Now we were instructed to fill out more paper work and send it to Lebanon PA!!!! This will take a month to hear back from them. I have had it from every Department in this hospital and I thought anyone who would want there loved one treated this way should know what to expect!!!!

Once again, we had a wonderful experience. The primary care physician took immediate action by send my husband to emergency room. The staff there were very attentive. Our primary physician appt was at 2:30 pm by 10 pm my husband was in a room, had 2 CT scans, several blood draws, ekg, oxygen given, chest ex Ray. Put on blood thinner, TB test and night nurse , Samantha did a great job. Day nurse, a Allison was outstanding. We witnessed her and the staff dealing with a very rude, obnoxious, mean-spirited man and the staff was extremely polite, and helpful to the man. We have 2 other emergency room issues and both were handled extremely well. Dr Morgan, attending Dr on floor 6 was very helpful in everything. Dr. O and Dr Caul of pulmonary team were efficient, accurate and did great job of explaining what they believe was occurring and they immediately set up follow up CT scan for 4 days out. AWESOME!!!

I recently was admitted for chest pain in the ER at Syracuse VA and was determined to have had a heart attack. As soon as this was diagnosed, I was sent by ambulance to Upstate where the cath lab was waiting and the removed 3 arterial blockages: 20%, 70%, and 100%. If not for the quick actions of the staff at the VA, I would surely be a gonner. Through he past several years of care at the Syracuse VA I have had the pleasure of being taken care of by the staff at the ER as well as primary care at Red Team, where I have received outstanding service and care. Syracuse VA Medical Center sets the standard for how medical care should be for Veterans.

Please post a direct phone number to the Syracuse VA pharmacy. When I call and the call is routed to a remote call center.. Which only purpose is to take messages and forward them to the Syracuse VA Pharmacy is a problem, since I have had issues in getting my prescriptions when needed with them. If there is a problem with available personnel why not locally hire people to assist in that area regarding the Syracus VA Pharmacy it would help in at least two ways. 1. Provide local employment . 2. It directly connects the concerns of the Vet to the pharmacy. The current setup does exactly the opposite. Thanks.

Not worthy of a comment. The ER department should be shut down for the treatment provided to a friend. He is in his late 20s and was experiencing a heart attack that they waited on that almost took his life. The nurses and doctors also lied on multiple occasions and held off transporting due to "no beds" at other hospitals...meanwhile, I conducted my own research and found out they never even called and none of the other hospital beds were full. If you treasure your Vet like I do stay far away.

4 days in ICU. Wonderful caring staff. The nurses could not be more helpful. They call for a doctor when they felt something was wrong. And even gone to takes with doctor when they felt they could do more to make my brother in law more comfortable Theses nurses doctors are super caring people. They keep the family informed every step of the way. I am not sure if I could do what they do it take dedication and knowledge and a heart. Thank you A6 ICU

This is a good VA Medical Center. Ive nothing but praise for all the staff medical administrative, and various others who work behind the scenes yet are crucial to the function of the facility and especially environmental services/housekeeping. I also commend the hospital for a welcoming multi-faith Chapel. When you are at the VA you might consider stopping in and take a moment for the tending of the spirit.

It has been a terrible expirence, started out ok but just continued to go down hill. The doctors and some of the nurses definitely give the impression they just dont care and guess what? they dont! To much to even try to put into words went wrong, will never go back unless it is an emergency. This is for the doctors: The difference between God and a Doctor is God knows he isnt a Doctor. Hope they get it!

I have had multiple appointments at this hospital. I have experienced extremely outstanding medical care here. I have been fully taken care of here for all of my medical needs. When they cant provide a service they have always given me referrals to outside doctors to address the issue. Outstanding mention to Dr. Marx, Dr. Hwang - Pain clinic, Dr. Aziz - Team blue, Dr. Alao - OEF team.
