The negative reviews are appropriate. My original review from 10/27/2011 was deleted somehow. I am putting it back on now. It was written during the visit, which was 2.5 hours long. [BEGIN REVIEW: New Paragraph] I am at Aspen Dental right now. Im not very pleased so far. I just got my teeth xrays done and Im waiting for the next step. <--New Paragraph--> The staff hasnt been friendly or welcoming, which isnt helping me at all since dental work isnt my favorite thing to begin with. In addition, Sean, who did my xrays was a little pushy and not really nice about doing his work. Xrays arent comfortable to begin with! I have to bite down on this plastic thing that pokes my mouth! I dont appreciate you scowling at me just because Im uncomfortable or you have a hard time setting up the xray! Also, lets talk about sanitation. Youre handling something that goes into my mouth. Please dont be handling the chair and other things. <--New Paragraph--> Ill update after the next step, but I figured id start now. 2 stars since they havent done anything catastrophic yet, but I definitely dont want to be here right now. <--New Paragraph--> /*Edit They had me do the xrays 2 more times! Surprise: Sean didnt get the shot set up right. The third time, they had Lucy come in and take over. She was much better, gentler, and communicative. Told me exactly what I needed to do. Very happy to be taken care of by someone who knows what theyre doing. Still 2 stars. +1 for Lucys good work. -1 that I had to do it 3 times. Also, Ive been here an hour and a half now, and still havent gotten past the xray portion. *End Edit/ <--New Paragraph--> /* Edit 30min later, I have now gotten to talk to a doctor, had a hygienist take some measurements, and I took xrays for the 4th time. Rachel then hygienist was curt, but good. She told me what I needed to do better and was very clear. Lucy the xray tech was very good about the 4th xray. And the doc (didnt catch her name) was very knowledgeable and helpful. So 2 hours so far, and waiting for the cleaning. *Edit/ <--New Paragraph--> /* Edit. Finished the visit. No cleaning. After 2 and a half hours, I get xrays done 4 times (because they screwed up the shots) and I get some measurements taken. Then they tell me I need to do a very expensive procedure and send me out the door. Very little face time and customer care. Not very happy or confident about what they want to do and not confident that it needs to be done. And if it does, I dont think I want it done by them. And that concludes todays visit. The rating is now reduced to 1 star. *end edit/

If I was just rating Dr. Mercuri, I would give her a 5+. She is an excellent doctor, has a terrific bedside manner (or dental chair manner in this case). I have to say that the front staff put too many appointments on her plate, I sat for an hour in the dental chair yesterday before she even knew I was back there. She wasnt told I was having all my upper teeth extracted until she was at my chair. She also had 2 or more other patients she was trying to tend to at the same time. It took her 2+hours to do my extractions as I have difficult teeth. I came back today to get the impressions done. I sat for quite a long time in the waiting room before they called me back and after they called me back and put me in a chair, again Dr. Mecuri wasnt told I was back there. She came back to see another patient that was getting a few teeth extracted and was then told by her staff back there that I was in the next chair. I dont understand how they expect her to give great service when she has no choice but to bounce from patient to patient because the front desk is overbooking her horribly. Honestly the ONLY reason Im still a patient as Aspen Dental is due to Dr. Mecuri being there, as shes the only dentist in this area that I trust and I know will take as good care of me as she can. Jenny & the other lady (whom Ive forgotten her name) that assist Dr. Mercuri are also great people. The ONLY reason Im rating you at a 2 is the overbooking of the doctors (especially when one is on vacation) so that they dont have the time to even breath as they are trying to handle multiple patients at once. This in turn makes people wait a long time in the waiting room and a long time in the chair before they are even attended to. I want to Thank Dr. Mecuri for everything shes done for me.

BY FAR the worst dental experience of my life. The zero star rating is certainly needed for this place. After waiting for almost two hours for the dentist to check and clean our teeth, we were told that we had to come back again to make separate appointments for teeth cleaning. The ONLY thing you need to know about Aspen Dental is that its a business that employs a Dentist. NOT A DENTAL PRACTICE!!!!! The store is run by a manager who tells the dentist what he needs to do. A normal dental practice is entirely orchestrated and run by a dentist, with secretaries to handle scheduling and billing. Aspen Dental is more like a business that tells the dentist how they can make more money. My husband and I were at our appointments for two hours and still did not receive a cleaning...of that two hours, 1:40 minutes was waiting. As we had our infant along, we certainly did not appreciate the lack of service. The dental assistant was quite pleasant, however there is only one dental hygienist and one dentist. The dentist is entirely unconcerned and only looking for profit. He couldnt even pretend to care...again, a business, not a dental practice. If you value your: Time, Money, and Teeth, by all means, do not visit Aspen Dental.

I recently moved back to the Binghamton area, and thought I would go back to the same dentist I had before, and really liked. First off in about 5ish years they have all new staff, Im kinda regretting coming back to them now. Last time I went they filled the wrong tooth, which I didnt know while they were doing it because it was right next to it. You would think they would know that I wanted the tooth with the giant crater in it taken care of first. They also decided to fill another tooth while they were at it, that I had no idea even needed a filling. It hurt while they were filling it, and to this day over a month later, it is still sensitive to cold beverages, and it never was before. I think the girls at the reception desk are very nice, but they dont have any background in dentistry, nor are they a dentist or even a dental assistant. Also there are too many dentist, I think if I had gotten the same dentist as I had the previous time that would have helped. I wasnt given an option though, and as far as I know there is no way to get the same dentist each time.
