In August 2015, my wife was hospitalized for 3 weeks at Springhill Medical Center and this past week from April 21-29, 2016. My wife fell August 17, 2015 and broke her left shoulder and her diabetes was out of control. She was transported by ambulance to this hospital and was examined by the Emergency Room doctor and discharged to go home in less than 3 hours. That same afternoon, after going to her Primary Care Physician, she was admitted to this hospital where she spent almost a week in ICU and 16 additional days in the hospital because of her conditions. The emergency room at this hospital was a horrible experience. My wife was in terrible pain and they did absolutely nothing for her and discharged her. The service in the hospital was terrible also. To many patients, not enough staff, equals little or no service. Doctors orders are not fulfilled due to the lack of inadequate staffing and the hospitalists are only interested in getting you out of the hospital as soon as possible regardless of your health condition. Had it not have been for Dr. Sumerrall with Pulmonary Associates and the other Specialists treating my wife at Springhill, Im confident my wife would have died. After 3 weeks at Springhill Medial Center, we transferred her to Mobile Infirmary where she remained hospitalized and was in rehab for 4 more weeks. The difference in Mobile Infirmary was night and day from Springhill. The service, nurses, and staff were great and the hospitalist was great as well. This past Monday, April 25, 2016, my wife was admitted again to Springhill Medical Center by her Primary Care Physician for severe wounds on her stomach caused from her diabetes. Again, the same experience. The surgeon ordered her to have wound care treatments twice a day. We were lucky to get it once a day and the hospitalist again was in a rush to get my wife out of the hospital and discharge her even before she had her first wound care treatment. My wife was discharged on Friday, April 29, 2016 and was sent home and orders were given for her to be on Home Health for wound care. Before leaving the hospital, I confirmed with the Social Worker/Case Manager that the orders had been sent to the Home Health agency for her wound care treatments to begin on Saturday. She told me she had faxed the orders and they would contact me Saturday morning to come out and perform wound care. Saturday afternoon at 2:00PM and we had not heard anything from the Home Health agency. I called them and they told me they never received any orders from the hospital for my wife. I would not take my dogs to this hospital. If I have a heart attack while visiting someone at Springhill Medical Center please, take me to Mobile Infirmary or Providence because the care and treatment at Springhill is absolutely horrible. Something needs to be done to stop these practices of inadequate health care and severe negligence and neglect at this hospital. As you can see from other comments here, we are not the lone ranger. Im confident this is happening with many patients at this hospital and they need to be sited and made to correct these problems. I called Jeffery Sinclair, CEO of Springhill Medical Center on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 to discuss my concerns and was told he was out of town. The receptionist told me that she would have a Patient Care Representative call me back on Tuesday. The representative called me back Friday afternoon, April 29, 2016, 3 hours after my wife had been discharged. I dont know what can be done but, I plan on exploring every option possible and do everything in my power to see that these practices and actions are stopped at Springhill Medical Center from continuing. P.S. If your Primary Care Physician does not make hospital rounds anymore, I suggest you change and get one that still does so you have a doctor that knows you and your health conditions and has your health care and best interest first and foremost. This new age medical practice of hospitalists seeing you in the hospital is not in the best interest of the patient!

Tonight January 29,2016 around 10:50ish My mom was took to Springhill Hospital In Mobile Al, she went in for asthma attacks. Being accused of faking seizures by a Caucasian RN (the Rn was also the only one pregnant on this day of our experience) that was assigned to her, she was giving a hard time while experiences multiple attacks and still wasnt receiving proper treatment, the RN called for the security guard after my aunt wanted to know why my mom was upset, after everything was coming together the security guard a Caucasian male went over to talk to the RN who was smiling and looking at my aunt for what she had done to cause my aunt to become upset, the security guard then turned around and accused my mom of using fowl language when I have multiple witnesses saying she didnt. I have voice recordings also. When my mom went gasping for air the nurse brought the top of the bed straight back and refused to let it up until my mom laid back but my mom kept telling them she couldnt lay back, my mom was suffocating an they didnt care. This was by far the worst experience. After requesting for the house manager whose name is Monique my mom was still having the trembling episodes but Ms.Monique comforted her through the whole thing. My grandma was told by another nurse that she was watching my moms actions and asked my grandma why is my mom faking seizures. Firstly, my mom never told them she was there for seizures ,she didnt seek treatment for seizures, nor did the prior paperwork say she was there for seizures, she was there for asthma attacks. My mom was forced to come home untreated, with no bottom on or shoes. She is currently now sitting in the bed still having the trembles and hard of breathe. We asked for the nurses name, everyone refused to give that information even though we are entitled to have it I feel this has to be addressed right now! Right now! Unfair Treatment And Prejudice Experiences! We deserve equal treatment rather we are Black, White or Blue!

I wish there were an option for ZERO stars because one star is still to high of a rating to give this sorry excuse of a hospital. My partner was brought in by ambulance, immediately put in a room but got NO attention what so ever for over an hour. The entire time we were there, they never even checked his vitals! Or hooked him up to an IV for dehydration purposes! Pardon me, but I always thought thats the very first thing you were supposed to do when being treated medically! Apparantly not here. After waiting over an hour, (again with no iv, vitals, meds, etc), a nurse finally came in and asked him to pee. He was unable to due to the extreme pain, so she left and finally came back about 30 minutes later to cathater him. Once the so called doctor came in, he was very rough and unprofessional, actually hurting my partner from touching him so hard. His first diagnosis was a kidney stone, so they sent him for a CT scan. Once those results came in and showed no stones or masses, they immediately discharged him with NO follow up instructions, NO referral, NO assistance in getting dressed, NO assistance in exiting the building, even though they had pumped him full of paid meds via shot so he could barely walk on his own. We were given 3 prescriptions and sent on our way. This was by far the WORST hospital experience I have ever had, and I am still sick to my stomach thinking about how we were treated. Also, the hospital itself was disgusting. Bathrooms were filthy, floors were sticky, fingerprints all over the walls, down right disgusting. My new motto is, even if I am in the PARKING LOT of this hospital and need medical attention, DO NOT take me there. Let me die before taking me there. Very disappointed considering we are also new to the area.
