I love Dr. McLendon and his staff. He has taken incredible care of my cats and dogs since I moved here to go to college -- about 15 years or so. He and his staff genuinely care about my pets and they speak gently and reassuringly to them during uncomfortable procedures. For example, my dog is old and arthritic and Dr. McLendon will say soothing things like, "dont worry, buddy, well have you chasing squirrels in no time!" I find that very touching and I know it makes my dog feel better. The ladies (Susan and the rest) in the front reception area know their stuff too! They are very kind and show real concern for my pets. Even though the place is usually packed, they do not rush you or act impatient. I dont know how they do it! The young men who assist Dr. McLendon are also very nice. They help you with your pets and carry them to your car for you if you need them to. The prices are incredibly low considering the quality of care and professionalism and kindness of the staff. Thank you, Dr. McLendon and staff!

Love this vet. I have 6 pit bulls and a german shepard and the staff here always takes great care of them. I once brought in a dog that belonged to my neighbor who was not taking care of him. The dog was so sick he would not eat or drink and could barely walk. They kept him for 2 nights and tried everything to save him. I even asked when i first brought him in if it would be better to put him down and the doctor said absolutley not he would do his best to save him. Unfortunatly the poor thing was to far gone and didnt make it. Well it turns out they gave him a blood transfusion, wormer, antibiotics and ran several tests on him and when i went to pay the vet came out and told me dont worry about it i didnt owe him a thing because they couldnt save him. I dont know of any other vet who cares so much about his patients. The staff is always nice and helpful and his prices are very fair compared to other vets in the area. I would recommend him to anyone!

I have used several different veterinary clinics in Tuscaloosa over the past two decades, and Ive never been very happy with the experience for my pet, or myself for that matter. I guess I have pretty high standards when it comes to where I take my animals, who are precious to me. I want the clinic to be clean, I want the staff and doctors to be friendly and caring, I want to pay a fair price for the services and medicines, I want everything to be explained to me, and not feel like my animal is just being ushered through their appointment as quickly as possible. McLendon Veterinary Clinic is truly everything Ive been looking for. The staff is truly caring, friendly, and so sweet to the animals. Dr. McLendon is wonderful. He explains everything, answers all my questions, and he doesnt do any tests or procedures that just simply are not necessary. I cant say enough good things about this clinic. A+++!!!

Our first visit was a sad one because we had to put my sweet, aged, therapy cat to sleep. After being my most consistent and cherished companion for 14yrs is was one of the most difficult days of my life. We could not see our reg vet on a Sat, so chose to come here. They made us feel so welcome and were so compassionate. We immediately decided that for our 2 other cats we would transfer their healthcare here right away. They were obviously very skilled and empathetic to both pets and owners, and their Saturday hours make it so much easier for us to come in. If you are unsure who to trust with your closest friend and loved one, trust McLendon. You will be very happy you came!!!

My boyfriend and I took our kitten, Max to McLendon because he had an eye infection and gave it to our other kitten. Dr. McLendon also found ear mites and gave us a dropper for that. He also let us look into a microscope to see the mites for ourselves. The total for the office visit and two medications (enough for both our kittens) was only about $35, and everyone there was very friendly and took care of our pet well. I think they didnt charge us for an office visit since we got medicine because before we saw the doctor, they told us there was a $35 service fee, but that wasnt on the bill. I really appreciated that, and I recommend them to anyone.

I tried 4 clinics in Tuscaloosa, this being the best. Good at explaining what is known, what is recommended, what other possibilities are. They listen well and are patient in explaining. They also discuss alternative treatments or additional tests. They are good about not recommending additional testing that would mostly run up the bill. Ditto for recommending less expensive antibiotics and other treatments. They have been 100% correct in all the problems I had. My dogs have actually "enjoyed" going there, so they are good to the animals even when the owner is not there. Plus the people out front are friendly and nice. Highly recommended!

Good People. I have been using a few different vets since I moved to Tuscaloosa. Now into my 5th year here, I finally found a place that I trust with absolute certainty with my pup. They were very welcoming at the door, immediately took my pup under their care and with a professional confidence that left me worry free for the safety of my dog. This is a very professional place here, they certainly know their stuff and they dont bother with the gimmicks or wow factor...these are very good people that really care about animals. Not to mention, the $60 Ive paid in the last 3 visits would have been more like $200+ ANYWHERE else - beautiful.

Dr McLendon and his staff are always friendly and patient, even when they are very busy. They are gentle with my whippet. Even the big, beefy guys are sweet and Cricket trusts them. Ive used them for 12+ years. Dr. McLendon always explains whats going on in laypersons terms. He is very down to Earth but also scary smart and has decades of experience. They also treated my MILs two elderly cats and handled their deaths appropriately, knowing she was very attached to them. They will even take the time to clip my dogs toenails, which I never learned to do. She wont let me touch them, but doesnt mind a professional doing it!

Ive been to a couple of other vets in town, but Dr. McLendon is by far the best vet Ive ever been to! I would highly recommend him and his staff. During the tornado, 04/27/11, Doc and his staff were there using cell phones to communicate to their patients as well as their vendors, etc.... Hes very gentle and caring, as is his staff. I cant say enough good things about McLendon Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. McLendon and staff are the best! Always welcoming and professional. I wouldnt take my cat or puppy anywhere else. I have a giant breed dog that is prone to certain genetic disorders, Dr. McLendon took the time to read over the heighten risk of disorders with me and explain options if problems present. They are affordable and work hard to make sure you are seen in a timely manner.
