A couple months ago we noticed our ten year old Chihuahua, Mitch, was losing weight, drinking excessive amounts of water, and getting up to pee multiple times during the night as well as being very lethargic. We feared he might be diabetic. We took him to Animal Hospital at Anthem where he was seen by Dr. Waller. After we described Mitch’s symptoms Dr. Waller ordered a blood test and within about 20 minutes he confirmed Mitch was diabetic. He prescribed insulin and he suggested getting it at Walmart Pharmacy which was much cheaper than CVS or one of the other major pharmacies. We started Mitch on two units of insulin twice a day and took him back in two weeks for a blood test. Unfortunately his blood sugar had only dropped from 480 to 477 (200 being the top end number that would be acceptable). He doubled Mitch’s dosage and two weeks later he had dropped to 445. I should mention that by this point most of Mitch’s original symptoms had dissipated or were entirely gone. He was a completely different dog at this point running and playing like we hadn’t seen in years. He only occasionally got up during the night to pee. However Dr. Waller still wanted to bring the blood sugar down. He said there was a possibility Mitch could have Cushing’s disease. He said there was a blood test to check for this, but it was fairly expensive ($350) and wasn’t always conclusive. He didn’t make us feel pressured to do the test, but we told him we wanted to try to rule this out. The test came back negative and Dr. Waller said in Mitch’s case the markers were so low it was conclusive he didn’t have it. He opted to increase Mitch’s dosage to five units twice a day. In two weeks his blood sugar had dropped to 273 and he was feeling great. Dr. Waller said to increase Mitch to six units twice a day and that would be the maximum we would give him. We’ll bring him back in three months to check his blood sugar and if it’s still too high we’ll try a different type of insulin. This was our first experience at Animal Hospital at Anthem, although we’ve been to many different veterinarians in California over the years. My wife and I could not be more pleased with the care Mitch has received. Dr. Waller has always taken ample time with us and never seemed rushed. He explained what was going on in a way that made it obvious he really knows what he’s doing. His staff is professional and personable and obviously they love animals and treated Mitch with great care. We’ve never waited more than five minutes for Mitch to be seen and when you enter the facility there’s a chalkboard with the names of all the pets being seen that day. It’s a nice touch to let you know they care. Most folks are concerned about the prices vets charge. The prices at Animal Hospital at Anthem are extremely reasonable. Everything is explained up front and there is no pressure to take needless tests to inflate your bill. As I mentioned earlier we’ve taken dogs to numerous vets over the years and Dr. Waller and this facility are the very best we’ve encountered. I’m thankful we found them for all our dogs. We’ve also recommended them to our best friends and would encourage you to give them a try if you’re in or around the Anthem area. You won’t be disappointed.

This vet and all the staff are absolutely incredible individuals and my little Gunners saving graces. I came to them after I bought this little guy from someone off Craigslist that apparently didnt care what happened to this precious little boy. He was 10 weeks old, skinny as could be at 1.2lbs and still bottle feeding. It was very hard to get him to eat and he refused to drink water. A say or two went by and he wasnt acting right to begin without but things got much worse. I woke up and he couldnt walk or barely hold his head up. He had quite a bit of blood in his stool as well. Of course this was very heartbreaking and I felt helpless, he was so sick. My husband and I were prepared to have him put down so he didnt have to suffer. We took him to Dr. Waller, little Gunners guardian angel. We told him what was going on and we were prepared to put him down. This was just killing us to see this puppy this way as it would anyone. Dr. Waller didnt give up hope on Gunner just yet. He thought just as we did that Gunner wouldnt make it but that didnt stop him from trying to save his life. Gunner had test done and he a something called toxicity which was throughout his entire body which was killing him. Dr. Waller took him in for the day to get him hydrated, giving him medicine, and keeping him warm. He never gave up hope. Hope is what kept little Gunner alive. We picked hip up that evening and granted he was still very sick the Dr. gave us everything thing we needed to care for him. We took off work to be there and care for him. It was a miracle, thanks to such an amazing vet and assistants that helped with Gunner hes alive and well being a happy little boy. He is now a little over 5 months old and at 1.9lbs. I am so very thankful to the Doctors and their staff for saving Gunner. He really touched all our lives then and to this day. Im not a religious person but I remember that day we dropped Gunner off we were on our way home and my husband asked me if I was falling asleep because my head was down and eyes closed. I said no not falling asleep. He then asked well what are you doing? I replied " Im praying, thats the only thing I can do right now." Like I said Im not a religious person but my prayers were answered Dr. Waller and his staff made all that possible.... Thank you to all of you.

These positive reviews are fake. I know that. Google Vet Loses Dog. They were found GUILTY today of losing our baby Hannah and Brian Waller will have a mark on his record for the rest of his life starting today. We took out 12 pound Maltese there on Dec 1st to have a 1500.00 teeth cleaning. She was 8 years old. They lost her after having 8 teeth pulled, didnt call us for 50 minutes and when we went there to pick her up, they told us "We have some Good news and some Bad news. The good news in Hannahs teeth cleaning went great. The bad news is we lost Hannah."We looked for 2 hrs on the 45 degrees weather and pouring rain and found her body on the side of the 1 17 highway. They keep trying to delete this account and start and new one. Better not bother. I will keep checking. They are pending an investigation by the AZ Vet Board right now. We saw them at the preliminary investigation. Dr Waller, Dr Snodgrass and Dr Bernard were laughing and joking around. Our baby is dead because they made the decision not to call us.

Animal Hospital at Anthem has some of the most caring staff Ive ever encountered in a vets office. They were awesome with our cats. Dr. Bernard administered their vaccinations personally and my kitties didnt even flinch! She took time out to get to know our little ones and make sure that they were comfortable. One of my kitties is overweight (21 pounds), but Dr. Bernard was very understanding and helped me to develop a plan of care that would be suitable for both kitties. After the visit, the technician Sarah even helped me out to the car! The next day, Dr. Bernard called us at home to ensure that Cosmo and Gizmo were doing well after their vaccinations. I highly recommend this vet!!! A+++
