Ive had two cats die in the last two years. Both were misdiagosed by Dr. Benesh at Chandler Small Animal Clinic. I was told to treat the first with oral medication and come back in a week. After a week of suffering, I took her back as ordered and was fortunate that Dr. Benesh was out that day. An excellent substitute vet was able to immediately diagnose the condition correctly. (The condition was fatal, untreatable, and causing much suffering.) We put her down that day - the misdiagnosis caused a week of unnecessary suffering for my cat. This year I took the second cat in with acute symptoms of lethargy, staggering, disorientation, etc. The doctor did a cursory examination, took a blood sample and said hed call me the next day, minimizing her condition. He had wrapped her in a towel out of fear of getting scratched, which prevented a thorough examination and observation of her symptoms. He also ignored my observation that she was getting worse, not recovering. I took my cat home and her condition continued to deteriorate over the next few hours, so I took her to another vet who immediately put her on IV, ran appropriate tests and found multiple problems including extreme dehydration and low potassium, hyperthyrodism, and a nodule on the thyroid that Dr.Benesh missed. Had Chandler Small Animal Clinic recognized the seriousness of the condition, she could have been treated and quite likely saved. Instead her condition deteriorated so much after the visit that she had to be put down, That makes two cats that went through unnecessary suffering due to Dr. Beneshs misdiagnosis. Based on my experience, I think the people at the clinic do care about the animals, but my opinion is that this is a very poor place to take your cat for medical treatment. It may be ok for shots and routine problems, but if you care about your pet, look elsewhere for medically knowledgable people. And yes, as others have reported, he did proselytize about Scientology on the first visit.

This place disgusted me. I boarded my pet here for one week while I was out of town (a Jack Russell), because all of my friends have apartments/condos and its tough to ask them to look after an energetic pup. When I returned, I walked into the back where they keep the boarded dogs and cats, because nobody was at the desk. I was flabbergasted. The person caring for the pets was a 16 year-old hispanic male, who was sitting in the back talking on his cell-phone. EVERY single pen was uncleaned, littered with dog poop. My Jack Russell was huddled in the corner of her pen, shaking while this Mexican CHILD supposedly caring for the pets sat in the corner looking unbothered. All of the dogs and their cages were absolutely filthy, and mine couldnt even see straight when I tried to walk her out. She had to be carried. She was skinny as a rail, and simply looked like death warmed over, It took over a week to return her to normal health. She could even go outside and go to the bathroom for herself. It was an absolute nightmare, and one Ill never forget. I did explore legal options, but in the end it simply wouldnt be worth the legal fees, since my dog survived and there was no firm evidence of abuse other than her state of health upon my return. I dont know about their veterinary services, but I couldnt be paid to take my dog back. This place needs to be inspected, and if it ever was (ie at random) Id bet my life itd be shut down.

Took our bunny here. After $256.00 the Vet said she had a fracture in her shoulder and that shed be fine. Give her meds and a soft place to lay is all he said. We celebrated at that news as we were very worried about her injury. We were so relived when leaving the office. Well the vet did not get our prescription to the pharmacy until 6 hours after our visit which meant the pharmacy didnt have time to fill it before closing for the day. He also sent it to the wrong pharmacy as I called in after the appointment and asked to have it sent to the compounding pharmacy closer to our house, the receptionist said yes no problem but it didnt happen. The farther away pharmacy called me at 4:45 to say theyd just received the script an we could pick it up in the AM. Our bunny never got her meds. We woke up the next morning and she had died during the night. We were shocked as the vet said shed make a full recovery. Were heart broken. I asked if we could have a refund or partial refund on our office visit when I called the next day and the Vet said no.

We took our cat to the Chandler Small Animal for a swollen eye. Dr. Shelly gave us a list of things he wanted to do to our cat it seemed like he was double billing us for some of the services. I asked him why we were paying him $200.00 for the test and having to pay an outside lab $200.00 for the same test Dr. Shelly then asked us to leave and take our pet somewhere else that I have a bad attitude and walked out of the room. This place is all about the money and not about the pet. I have no problem paying for anything my pets need but I would like an explanation on what is going to be done for what I am paying for. I wish I would have read all the other reviews before I took my cat to this place....BEWARE do not take your pets to this place!!

I took my 15 year old neutered male cat in for routine exam, vaccinations and blood work. I am very impressed! Not a fancy office by any stretch, but I experienced very friendly and knowledgeable staff, including Dr. Benesh. The best reinforcement of the overall favorable office visit is my cats reaction. He has NEVER been more calm and relaxed as he was during the entire, thorough exam. That speaks volumes to me. From the initial phone call to schedule the appointment, to the follow up test results phone calls by Dr. Benesh himself, I felt appreciated and in good hands. I will continue to take my cat to this clinic as I believe his health is in competent and professional care.

We took our cat here when he had trouble peeing. They saw him right away which was great. We were told that he had crystals in his urethra and would need special food for the rest of his life. Fine. I told the vet that I suspected he was allergic to chicken. When I called a week later to inquire about the food, I found out , after being placed on hold for 20, that the food hadnt even been ordered. The vet was supposed to call me but didnt. Then, arrangements were made to go over the special ordering process but I never got a phone call. It seems to me that they only care about your pet when you are inside their facility. Unless its an emergency, I wont be coming back.

ive taken my dog and cat here for awhile now, we used to enjoy this place, but recently we called to have our dog checked for a medical issue as well as grooming. when it was time to pick up the dog, they hadnt washed him nor had he been checked by the doctor, they just charged us for boarding him for the day!!??? one of the ladies behind the counter had the nerve to say "dont look at me, its not my fault". anyway....unfortunately, the girls behind the counter arent sure what is going on and now that i think about all of the issues weve had with trying to schedule the most simple thing, i think that theyve been been giving him too many shots.
