I had really high hopes for this place, but my experience was a bit of a roller coaster … I brought my mini pig into the office to get her spayed and have the entropion in her right eye treated. At her initial examination, Dr. Driggers made the recommendation to try a tacking procedure over surgery. He said it would be more cost efficient and less invasive, so of course it made sense to try that first. He has a great reputation within the mini pig community, so I had the utmost confidence in his treatment plan. I paid for everything upfront (spay, eye tacking, & medications) so that I wouldn’t have to worry about it later. The day of surgery I made sure the receptionist had my payment on file and dropped my little pig off for her procedures. At pick up, I had to wait for the medications and discharge instructions ... imagine my surprise when I was presented with an additional bill of 75.00. I told the tech that it must be a mistake because I had already paid for everything but she said they had "forgotten" to add the eye tacking charge. I was annoyed by the extra charge but paid it anyways. A few hours later I noticed some swelling and goop coming from my pigs eye, so I checked the discharge instructions to make sure it was normal ... I was very upset to see that they only provided me with discharge instructions for her spay procedure. How could they catch a missing charge for the eye tacking and forget to give me aftercare instructions? I was SO disappointed. I called the office to talk to someone and felt like the benefit of doubt was warranted ... that is, until my follow up appointment. Dr. Driggers was out of the office so I had to see Dr. McLaughlin, I voiced my concerns about my pigs eye not showing any signs of improvement and asked about surgery. Dr. McLaughlin examined the eye and said that Dr. Driggers did not go back far enough with the tacking, she suggested adding more sutures before discussing surgery as an option. I was told there would be a 12.00 charge for more sutures and a 65.00 charge for anesthesia -- add medication and the "recheck" fee -- my bill totaled 188.00. I was shocked! I understand the higher costs associated with “exotic” pets, but I was surprised they charged me again, especially when Dr. McLaughlin implied that it was not done correctly the first time. Again, I paid my bill and worked quickly to get my groggy little pig to the car. I didnt realize until I got home that they didnt give me discharge instructions the second time either. I had to call/email the office when I had additional concerns about her eye. Pretty disappointing, right? Thats not even the worst part, the worst part is that second tacking procedure didnt work. My pig was uncomfortable for the additional wait time and I had to spend almost 500.00 on the eye surgery. Luckily, the surgery was the best treatment she received and the eye looks fantastic. It should have been the next step all along. The highlight of this place is the front office staff – they are amazing! Alisen, Val, and Sandi are wonderful! You can tell they care about the people and pets they treat. Jen is also really awesome. Dr. Driggers knows his stuff, but his front office ladies are the reason I came back after all the irritation.

Dr McLaughlin is by far the best vet I have ever seen. My parrot had some issues. Buster, my parrot wasnt very cooperative but Dr. McLaughlin persisted and spent over an hour with us trying to figure out a plan to help Buster. The time she spent connecting with my parrot was amazing. She sat on the floor with him with the lights off trying to calm him. She came up with a very reasonably priced game plan to run necessary test to be sure he was properly treated. I couldnt be more pleased with her ability to connect with my parrot. Dan, her assistant was wonderful. The tests were run the same day of my initial visit. The meds Dr. McLaughlin prescribed have helped my parrot immensely. I would highly recommend Dr. McLaughlin. She is refreshing, personable and very knowledgeable in her field. Im so glad I selected this clinic. This is the only Doctor my little Buster will ever see. I cannot believe the time she spent with us. Amazing. If you have an exotic pet, ask for Dr. McLaughlin, she will not disappoint.

This is the Best Avian vet office! When my half moon conure was having difficulties on 4th of July no one in the valley could help me. I called their pager and Dr McLaughlin answered my call made suggestions what to do and reassured me. She agreed to see me first thing in the morning but also said to call back immediately if his condition changed. She basically was trying to save me an emergency fee since she felt he was stable but needed to be seen asap. Thanks to their expert care and genuine kindness he is getting better. They even called me for a few days to check up on him. If you have a parrot or any exotic pet they are the caring experts you want and need to care for your unique family member.

Dr. Driggers has been my vet for years, and in the years Ive known him he has always done everything he can for my pets. I would not hesitate to suggest his clinic to anyone that needs an exotics vet. He is very skillful in his surgeries, check ups, and everything he does. He and staff always has the animals best interests in mind. The staff here at the clinic is wonderful and friendly. After I had an animal pass away, they sent me his foot prints. They are personable and do their absolute best to keep you and your pets healthy. If I had to find something that I would suggest improvement on, I wouldnt be able to. This place is amazing and I am thankful for AEAC and their staff.

This is the clinic that I have been using since I brought my baby African Grey in February. I now take all three of our birds there. Dr. McLaughlin is easily the best veterinarian that I have ever taken a pet too. She is very knowledgeable, gives you time to ask questions and doesnt rush you, and is amazing with all of my parrots. I would (and do) recommend this clinic to anyone and everyone who has an exotic pet and needs a really good vet. Their prices are very reasonable as well. I believe I paid around $40 for a well-check for each of my parrots. Most places charge $60 or more in my experience. Best vet experience Ive ever had.

The staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable. I brought my ferret in and the veterinarian and his assistant were both exceptional. Their "beside manner" with my pet gave me the distinct impression that they care very, very much about the animals who come through their doors. And according to the receptionist, there are a lot of different kinds of animals who come through those doors! I will be bringing my ferret here for any medical issues in the future, for sure. And I recommend it for anyone in the east valley looking for a place to bring their ferret friends.

This office is fantastic and I am so glad that I found Avian Exotic Animal Clinic for my bunny. I have used both their regular services and their emergency call line and could not be happier with the service I have received. Without going in to a long story about my bunny, I will just say that Dr. Driggers and his staff went above and beyond in caring for her. Dr. Driggers, Dr Mclaughlin and Carissa were all very compassionate and exceptionally knowledgeable. Even the front office staff was wonderful. Avian Exotic is a 5 star experience all around. -Kelly D.
