I wish I could give this a negative review. This has taken me years to work up the right words to say as the last, and final time, I stepped foot in this office was the most traumatizing experience of my life. First off, I want to say, if you do choose to come here, only see Dr. Atkins. He is great. I cannot say enough kind words about him. We brought in our Dalmatian and he was great with her. She loved to smile and Dr. Atkins knew that she was just being friendly and loved her every time he saw her. My aunt and uncle got her litter sister and it was always a blast watching them both grow between visits. Sadly, one time Dr. Atkins was out so we saw Dr. McNulty. She saw our dog smiled and almost refused to even see her saying she was viscous and would only see her with a muzzle on. This dog wouldnt have hurt a FLY but she was sick and needed to be seen so we allowed it - but refused to see her again. When she passed away, it was at an emergency hospital as she got extremely sick overnight and we decided to let her out of her suffering. It was the most peaceful and pleasant goodbye I couldve imagined with the most caring staff possible. When we decided to get another dog we, too, brought her here. She was a beautiful chocolate Labrador retriever who loved nothing more than to chew on her TY beanie baby monkey as if it was a pacifier. As time went on, we continued to bring her here until her final days. We knew she was getting older and was in a lot of pain and no longer happy, so we did the hardest thing ever and scheduled a euthanasia appointment. When it came time for the appointment, we were forced to wait 2 hours as my dog was gasping for air from all the stress of being at the vet because they "didnt have a room ready." Finally as we are in the room saying our last goodbyes, Dr. McNulty walked in and we were unprepared to see her as we didnt know she would be the doctor doing the process. She did a list of wrong things: 1. Didnt bring enough drugs to actually euthanize our dog. She had to leave the room half way through to get more medicine. Why would you not prepare for needing more instead of leaving a half dead dog in a room with a family freaking out that you werent prepared?! 2. She didnt let us enjoy the last moments of our dogs life. It was my parents and myself in the room and as I tried to pet her head and let her know it was okay, that she wasnt going to be in pain anymore, Dr. McNulty lifted our dogs head by her scruff and tossed her around like a blanket to throw her to the other side of her body. Why in the world did you need to move a dog? and why in such a harsh manner?! 3. When my dog was finally at peace and in heaven, she didnt care to offer her condolences and just left the room without saying anything. I really hope that she will never treat another patient like this, but Ive thought about reporting her to the vet board because it doesnt take an idiot to see she messed up. The only thing stopping me was trying to get the image out of my head and not wanting to go back to that terrible place. I hope that no one else has to go through dealing with this unprofessional doctor and will see this and realize that there is a common denominator with this clinic: Dr. McNulty needs to go. Please, for the sake of you and your animal, only see Dr. Atkins.

Ive been going to Brown Road for almost 12 years now and mostly see Dr. Adkins, but have also seen Dr. McNulty in a pinch. Dr. Adkins is a fantastic vet. He is knowledgeable, caring, and you can tell he loves animals. He explains everything in detail (which I like), and willingly answers all my questions. Last summer while I was out of town, my 16 yr old Brittany had a stroke with my friend/house sitter and she and another friend rushed my dog to Brown Road per my request. Dr. Adkins had treated my dog almost her whole life, so knew her well. He called me on my cell phone and told me that she was not coherent (so I wouldnt feel guilty), and that I should let her go and have her put down. He was very gentle and understanding, knowing how much I cared for my dog. Later, I received a hand written card from Dr. Adkins that was so sweet, complimenting my good friends and letting me know I did the right thing for my dog. His staff is always friendly and their follow-up is excellent. Anytime Ive had a sick pet, they check up frequently to ensure they are healing well and answer any other questions that I may have. I live in Queen Creek now, and it is still worth the drive to take all my pets to Brown Road.

I am extremely disappointed with Brown Road Animal Clinic, and would suggest taking your animals elsewhere. My family and friends told me to stay away from Brown Road Animal Clinic, that they have had bad experience, but I wanted to give them a chance. Boy was I wrong, and taken advantage of. Never again, I should have listened to all my family and friends that had bad experiences with this clinic. We started with a Dr. McNulty as our pups vet, and she didn’t even check my pups. She looked them over, gave them shoots and out the door. It felt like she had other things to do besides check my pups for health problems, maybe happy hour? My girlfriend went in, and met with Dr. Mike Zinn, and he was better. He found a few problems with my pups that Dr. McNulty didn’t take the time for. I was quoted and lied to multiple times about my pups costs. I asked why I was told something different before I made the appointment and the office lady said I don’t know. Really, tell me this after I am there? This happened a few different times. I feel they are interested in making money at my pup’s expense. I called around and found out they are higher than other vets in the area.

I understand business is business. My friend had a 1.9lb kitten that was in distress. We took her to this place and Dr. McNulty said the kitten needed to be put down . Needless to say my friend was distraught. She said her goodbys to the kitten. I sent her to my car to wait and I said I would finish up.The bill was $150ish. My friend, who is on a fixed income, told me take her debit card and tell them please wait for 11 days and the money would be there. Nope, they wanted some money. I had $50.00 and gave it them. Nope Mcnulty said they wanted $30.00 more. McNulty said it wasnt enough. They needed more for creamation. BS. Minutes later they brought the kitten out in a box, STILL ALIVE, and wanted her to take it home, watch it die and bury it in the backyard. Now this is just heartless. A lady overheard and paid the money. Its bad enough to loose a pet but to be a heartless vet? I would not take my pet ant to this place.
