I never get to see Dr. PICO anymore. Apparently he o ly does the procedures now. Since I havent scheduled anymore, I feel like they just dont want me as a patient. When I was still having procedures that were really working, I referred my husband here and he is still scheduling regular procedures so he is co with them. At each appointment he is asked how is he feeling, are his meds working? Last 2 appointments he was offered morphine and today something else...stronger than percocet. Mind you his pain is not nearly what mine is, but the PA keeps reducing my medz. No PT and today she told my husband to Google PT and learn how to do some using YouTube videos?! Seriously??? Does my insurance even cover that? I had to go back to work and have been in extreme pain which is causing me to be nauseous with chest pains at night. I wrote this on my visit questionnaire today and she never even read it. I planned to ask her to review my medicines and ask for something longer acting or stronger since she reduced one mf my meds and just d/c one without even telling me she was going to. I dont even k ow if you can stop that one abruptly and I have been having headaches and mood swings since that. She just walked out and I left the office in tears because she didnt even give me a chance to talk. She talked politics to my husband while she typed on the laptop.then she got up and left. The front desk people made me pee in a cu p before they would give me my scripts. I have real pain and they treat everyone like drug addicts. I got much better care before the split of offices and I didnt get a choice to stay at the old office. I asked the assistants what should I do for my increased pain because its been so bad that Im feeling suicidal (which I also wrote on my visit questions). The male assistant told me I should do whatever I needed to do. So I asked for a copy of my medical records and they told me they couldnt give them to me today. So who knows how long I have to wait to get relief now. This new branch of Pico/Hogan pain doctors does not care about people with pain. The practice is sopely concerned with income.

I had moved to AZ from CA & had been seeing a pain Dr. There for 5 years. I drove an hour from where I live because they take my insurance. Dr. Pico was nice, but thought I should get off all the meds I was on for the past 2 1/2 yrs. 1 of which was Methadone 10mg QID. For those of you who dont know, thats 40mg a day, & Methadone is THE hardest to stop ( harder & takes longer than Heroin) owing to its 72 + hr half life, & how it gets into the fats & muscle tissues of youre body.... Not that he or that self righteous NP of his bothered to tell me that. ALL the neg. reviews Ive read about that NP (nurse practitioner) sound completely true to me. Patients should at least feel included in their care. Also, it was a stroke of luck, that I saw the Dr. Anyway-it was that disgusting NP who came in & stated "Im an NP! Youre appt. is with ME today, & Im going to decide how your treatment will go!" is what she said when I asked when I would see Dr. Pico. I thought it was a nice touch that she decided to bring a trainee into the room without my permission... HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) violation? Made me uncomfortable. My medical history is private. Thats what the law states. DOCTOR PICO.... Do something about this! 4yrs. of undergrad, 4yrs. Med. School, 4yrs. Anesthesiology Residency, on the Liver Transplant team, 1yr. Pain Management Fellowship issued very recently in Sept. of 2013, Board Certified, by the American Board of Anesthesiologists, meeting MOC requirements..... Tell me, why do you put up with her? It wont be long before people start to blame you. I almost wanted to, but you were nice to me... Weather genuine or not, I suppose Ill never know. Youre only as good as youre weakest link. & BTW, you couldnt possibly have had the note from my pain dr. Your NP claimed she had, because my Dr.s office thought I was picking it up... It never made it to youre office. You couldnt have read it. So what letter were you reading then? What a mess. Terrible. Not nice.

I was referred to Az Pain Doctors by my orthopedic Dr. I called and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Tristan Pico and I told them what I needed and was advised it would be no problem on the day of my appointment I arrive 20 minutes early just in case there is more paper work upon my arrival one of the members of the front office staff was arguing with a patient in front of other patients which I felt was very unprofessional but after a short wait of about 15 minutes I was brought back to a room by P/A Darrell Potter where I was asked if I was here for drugs and I was taken to a room (very unprofessional) I told Mr. Potter if I needed pain medication I would not have waited a month to get it and I am sure I could get it from my sending physician I told him I was only here for a test my vitals were taken and I was left to sit in the room all bye myself for an hour eventually Mr. Potter returned and I was told that I needed to schedule another appointment and come back for the test that I originally called to have performed I was advised that I needed to return for another appointment and this appointment was just for a consultation and that I would need to have another visit to have this test completed I never saw Dr. Pico and was given another appointment to return in April. I stopped by my orthopedics office after my visit to let them know how I was treated his office staff was very upset and advised me they will no longer refer people to his office and they will be scheduling me to see someone else. What a waste of my time I will also be advising BCBS that the only service they should pay for is the cost of the P/A checking my pulse and Blood pressure

I have been a patient of Dr Pico for over 2 1/2 plus years. I have Chiari Malformation and chronic lower head and neck pain/pressure 24/7 and choose to maintain it as best I can with pain management before deciding on surgery. I have to admit I dont see Dr Pico in my visits but IF I do request to see him when scheduling they will set up that request but if not I see Daultry, who is absolutely amazing! I am a now 41 yr old whos whole life changed with this disability and she listens to my concerns, explains what procedure I am getting and her pre and post follow up are professional. I also have to say I absolutely love Glen, the anesthesia doctor Pico uses during procedures as well. Doctor Pico is not there to be your best friend and has a lil dry personality but if I ever have questions or concerns he has always stopped and listened and explained them to me. His staff at office and surgery center are friendly and professional. I do not like opioids use so I depend on these different procedures and trigger point injections within my care. So I dont know how they are with one always needing prescription refills. I would just say to all when scheduling your appointment, request Doctor Pico to be seen every once in awhile and ask your questions when you see him before procedures.
