My dog was a white german shepard 13+. I realized his age, but I took him to the 24 emergency hospital. The surgeon did x ray and stomach surgery. His stomach was twisted. They subscribed three medications since he had a major surgery. Sucralfate 1 gm, tramadol 60 mg, and clavamox 376 mg. The emergency 24 hospital wanted me to do a follow up. Their location was 23 avenue and Glendale. But instead of going to them for a follow up from them, I went to Dr. Yochom, Southside animal hospital instead. The doctor looked at him and he decided he doesnt need any medication. He did give me a droplet for the dogs ears. My dog died the same day we saw Dr. Yochom. I regretted for the rest of my life. I wish I turn the clock back one more day before my dog died. I wish I could have gone to the 24 emergency hospital instead of the Southside animal hospital. I called Dr. Yochom about his death the next day. I told him that he was getting better with the medicine that he was taking for 10 days. He told me that I need to do a autopsy at the emergency hospital to concluded the cause of death. I was total shocked and unprepared for my dogs death. We got him in the year 2000. Animals cannot speak to tell us their health problems. If I was the doctor I would have asked many questions about his health and after the surgery. But instead he has many patients waiting to see him. It is a shame that animals are treated like animals. My dog could have live another two years. I realized how hard it is to make the wrong decision. When in doubt, get second opinion from the 24 emergency animal hospital. They give the best care. I dont know how long it would take to get over him. He died July 19, 2012. Lord help us all.

Southside Animal Hospital let my dog die in their parking lot. Early morning on 10/27/2016, my dog began to act strangely – staggering and panting. I loaded him up in the car and prepared to take him to the closest ER vet that I knew – on Thomas. While stopped at a stop light, I realized that he was in distress and would probably not make it to that vet. A quick Google search located the nearest vet, which was Southside Animal Hospital – they were set to open in less than 20 minutes, and they were 5 minutes away. I quickly made my way in that direction. I pulled into their parking lot and tried the door – it was unlocked and I could hear people in the back I called out to them to ask for help. One guy came out and informed me that they didn’t open until 8AM. At this point, that was only 12 minutes away, and my dog didn’t have that much time. I asked if they could see him early since this was an emergency and was told flatly – no. I asked a second time, saying my dog was dying, only to be shown the door. Frankly, I was in shock. As I stood outside trying to figure out what to do next, I heard the door lock behind me. God forbid, I try to bring my dying dog in for help. I sat in the parking lot for the next 10 minutes while my dog died in my arms. I was not ready to drive yet, so I sat there for another 10 to 15 minutes trying to compose myself enough to drive. By this time, it was past 8AM. I realize that I was not a current client, but you would think that common human decency would have compelled SOMEONE from that office to take the 20 steps outside to see if all was OK. No one did. I will never seek help from this vet again, and I urge others to do the same.

I believe this doctor is just here to rip people off !!! He gave my friend and me two different stories...my friend took in my baby to have him tested for parvo...the vet told her he was positive and was caught early enough to treat....what he didnt tell her was that there was blood in his stool...he prescribed some medication and she took him home...4 days later he still refused to eat and drink...i took in some of his stool to have tested for worms....he told me it was negative but told me that his stool had even more blood than before!! HE had the nerve to tell me that he never diagnosed my baby with parvo but yet he sold me medication....then he said he might have a stomache ulcer and gave me more medication to give him....i told the vet about how that morning his stool would seem to spill out by itself without him having to go potty...the vet told me there was nothing to worry about that it was normal because he was sick...he gave me more medication and i went home without thinking twice...i gave him his medicine that night....when i woke up around 1 in the morning, i found my baby lifeless!!! This vet told me not to worry about anything...he lied...i should of gotten a second opinion but i trusted him with my babies life...and now hes gone... :o( ......im never going to be able to hold my baby again...so please if you love your pets...please please dont take him to see this vet....

Im very very disappointed with this place. I brought my cat here a year ago & the Dr we got was professional & awesome but unfortunately last month two of my cats got sick at the same time so I took them there & a different Dr looked at them his name is Mario Tascon. He was very very rude to my family. I really doubt that he would see it that way but he showed no compassion over our situation & didnt know anything he was doing. After examination & further tests he couldnt find anything wrong & guessed it was some virus. The next day as I watched my cats dying I rushed them to Blue Pearl Hospital Vet in Peoria & they treated us with so much respect & care. That night they found out the cause of their sickness & my cats thankfully recovered. The next day when we came back to this Southside Animal Hospital, Mario Tascon denied seeing any of the problems that the other hospital found & when we asked him about the test results he MISDIAGNOSED my cat!!! & had us going back & fort for more useless tests that in the end my cat didnt need!! My husband had to ask a lot of questions to get some simple information out of him because he would give us short medical answers that of course we didnt understand. Please if anyone decides to go here ask for the other Dr avoid Mario Tascon hes so disrespectful & unapologetic.

We took our dog here for a second opinion and found great, reasonable care, without an upcharge for every question or detail. He was not rough as some of the other people said he was. He was very straight forward and up front about everything which was great. Prices were VERY reasonable and like I said there isnt an upcharge for every little thing. He recommends exactly what he thinks necessary and doesnt push unnecessary junk on you. We will most definitely be going back! *update* I just wanted to say that since I reviewed this over a year ago Ive returned several times for various ailments of my three dogs. One dog had a corn and another had a benign tumor and I took them in at the same time - I opted to do the surgery to remove the tumor for one of my dogs after the vet removed the corn from the other. Not only did they do a good job but they also charged me a very reasonable rate for the surgery to remove the tumor and didnt charge me at all for the corn removal of the other dog. Just want to reiterate how much I love this place!
