This will be a bit of a long post, but here goes. On Sunday 2/1/17 I brought my dog to the Citrus Heights Mercy Pet Hospital on Tupelo. She was examined and given a round of antibiotics. She had been experiencing sudden bladder incontinence issues: large quantities of clear and odorless urine multiples times per hour. The vet - Dr. Young (sp?) - said that it could be a urinary tract infection so he gave a supply of antibiotics while we awaited lab results. She was spayed about a year ago, so he said he couldnt 100% rule out spay incontinence but it was unlikely. We took Lucy (the dog) home and started her on her antibiotics right away. The vets office called to say that the urine from the urinalysis was very diluted and asked if wed like to do a culture - we said yes, and they said it would take 1-5 days for the lab results to come in. We waited all week without hearing anything but werent overly concerned as by Tuesday the incontinence seemed to be under control and we knew theyd said the lab might not get back to them for up to 5 days. Saturday, the 5th day, rolled around and we still hadnt heard anything. We waited again. Sunday rolled around and we decided to give the office a call - we were told that they couldnt give us the lab results themselves, that it had to be the vet himself. We said that was fine, and waited to hear back from Dr. Young (sp?). We never received another call. I decided to call again today, Monday (the 8th day), and was again told that we needed to get lab results directly from the doctor and that hed call us. In this time Lucy had another incontinence accident, which I also informed them of. They said theyd put a note in saying it was urgent for him to call. More time rolled by, still no call. I knew theyd be going out to lunch and I also knew that with this storm I needed to know if I should take Lucy with me (we spend M-F in the Bay Area, but was off this particular Monday) or to leave her here (with my mom) for further testing/changes in medication. I called once again to explain to them that I needed to find out what we were supposed to do for Lucy, that I needed to return to the Bay Area for work and needed to make arrangements for Lucy here if the lab results warranted it, remind them that Lucy had another accident (which seemed strange since shes on day 8 of her antibiotics), and that it had been over a week since wed visited. It is now 2:45 pm and I am left making (possibly unnecessary?) arrangements for my dog to stay with my mother just in case the vet says she needs to be seen again for another exam or a change in medications, because they still havent bothered responding to my concerns. I understand that clinics can become overwhelmed, but 3 days is more than enough time to make a simple call to say "yes we need to see her/change a medication" or not. They acknowledged themselves during Sundays phone call that the lab results were indeed already in, so we are truly just waiting around for a simple phone call to explain the results to us and tell us what steps we need to take. Id like to think that if the lab results pointed at something serious (kidney failure or infection - something I have pondered solely for the vast quantities of urine shes expelled, the fact it was all very clear and odorless and as the urinalysis proved - diluted) that theyd have informed me by now, but considering the fact there have been 4 calls on my end to 0 returning phone calls on theirs tells me that this is not a priority for them. Considering the hundreds of dollars shelled out for the exam, urinalysis, culture, and medications, youd think a simple phone call wouldnt be a high expectation. Up until this scenario Id been fairly pleased with Mercys staff and operations, but I can no longer recommend their services to anyone and do not intend on bringing any more business to them myself. I value my animals and their health too much to bring them to a clinic which doesnt consider them a priority as well.

My, My, where do I begin with this inept vet clinic. What was supposed to be a simple neutering of my 7 month old male cat a few days ago turned out to be a nightmare and so unprofessional I have never experienced as a lifetime pet owner of dogs and cats I found Mercy Pet Hospital because I was told by the first vet I took my kitty to that he would charge too much to neuter my cat and to call around for cheaper prices to get him neutered. The day of my cats appointment came on March 12 2016 and brought him in at 7:15 am and got a call to pick him up at 2:30 pm. When I got to Mercy Pet Hospital, the receptionist told me to pay the bill first and the vet would meet with me shortly to discuss my cats post operative care. But.... as soon as the vet came into the room I was in, he said there was an "incident" with my cat and explained that when he was giving my 7 month old cat his sedative shot, my cat didnt like it an did a "alligator roll" which caused the shot needle to break off inside of him --- and then having to get it out and do an X-Ray to make sure they got all the needle metal out of his behind. Wow! You would have thought they were holding down a lion who they needed to be afraid of but my cat weighs a whopping 8 lbs. Mercy Pet Hospital never called me when this event happened, nor did they bend over backwards to discount any monies I had already paid them when I walked into the door. This facility and newbie vets and not worthy of anyone risking harm to their pets. Now my cat has a bald shaved area on his behind with a mark and scar that should have never, ever have happened in the first place. Go somewhere else and do your due diligence first when looking for a good Vet Clinic/Hospital because it can spare you lots of anguish and pain to your dear loved pet.

Great Service and really affordable ! I must say I am very impressed by their staff. I took Beau my German Shepherd into their clinic for a teeth cleaning which is people aggressive. They allowed me to stay with him while they gave him a mild sedative so they could hook up the IV. They not only made Beau feel comfortable but they also made me feel comfortable since I am typically very nerves taking him to vets because of his aggressive attitude. I arrived at the clinic at 7am and was there for only about an hour before I left feeling completely satisfied that he is in good hands. They set the expectation that Beau would be there until the afternoon which was fine with me. I got a call around 1pm letting me know he was ready to be picked up and also advised me that he did very well during the teeth cleaning. I got there and picked him up. I expected to pay more then the quoted price since that is typical of most pet hospitals but they actually ended up charging me less because they had a spare coupon that saved me the cost of his first visit. I am truly impressed by this clinic. I already have plans to take my Boxer there for his vaccinations and teeth cleaning. If you are looking for affordability and a staff that cares about you and your pet I would recommend Mercy Pet Hospital to anyone.
