Awful , awful experience! I recently chose Dr. Jeffery Bloom as my primary care doctor because I needed a referral to a dermatologist. I recently changed jobs and needed a fresh referral to continue my 6 month visits to a derm due to a past battle with Melanoma. I’m pregnant and so it is especially important to be diligent of skin changes during this time. My actual meeting with Dr. Bloom was fine. He saw me exactly on schedule, took a generous amount of time collecting my medical history as a new patient and wrote my referral. He then walked me out and passed the referral onto his office staff…that is when the experience turned horrible. I waited one week to hear something from the office about my referral status. When I failed to receive an email or phone call as promised; I called the office for an update. And then continued to call every other day for 3 WEEKS looking for an update. Here is a short list of excuses from Dr. Bloom’s staff over those 3 WEEKS on why my referral had not been completed: • We’ve never dealt with your insurance before. (I’m insured by Aetna) • We recently changed computer systems and I haven’t been trained/can’t log into/am unable to find/ the information needed to process. • Rosie is out for a couple of days and she is the only one who can work on your referral. • My internet connection is down today. • I’m the only one in the front office and my job is only to answer phones not work on referrals. • We faxed it yesterday (my dermatology office never received it). • We can’t find you in the system Cynthia. (My name is Suzanne) I’m currently at the 6 week mark and they are still working on figuring the referral process out. Today I was told that Dr. Bloom himself would log into the system and process the referral. I certainly won’t wait under water. I partially blame myself for not just switching primary physicians after a couple of weeks in and starting over. I can’t comment on Dr. Bloom’s talent as a Dr. but am terrified of his office staffs’ inability to complete a very basic task for a primary care physician’s office. I noticed a number of elderly patients in his waiting room during my visit and it breaks my heart to think of one of those sweet grandmas or grandpas going through what I have just for a much needed visit to a cardiologist or other specialist requiring a referral.

I am 100% pleased with Dr. Blooms professionalism and care. He is an excellent general practitioner with a nice Newport Beach near the Back Bay. I am a generally healthy middle-aged male that has seen Dr. Bloom several times a year since 2009 for various injuries and illnesses. Each and every visit I have found Dr. Bloom to be un-rushed, courteous, responsive to my questions and effective in providing medical treatment. He is up-to-date on the current treatment protocols and medications which gives me a high degree of confidence that I am being provided the best medical care available. I take my health seriously and I feel fortunate to have a doctor as knowledgeable and caring as Dr. Bloom.

Doctor Bloom has been my primary care physician for over 10 years. Though I know he sees a large number of patients, he has managed to see me through several difficult times including spinal and abdominal surgery. Additionally, he discovered a difficult to find often overlooked chronic genetic condition that I later discovered the other men in my family also have. I cant possibly measure the debt I owe this man.
