Awesome facility and staff. My experience here was impeccable. I honestly dont understand how everyone else has such a bad experience when I had such a wonderful experience. My dog had an eye ulcer - the 2nd time in 2 months. The previous time wasnt as serious, so I took my dog to my usual vet. The 2nd time, there were more serious concerns, so I went to see the eye specialist at Eye Care for Animals. Both times, I had to take my dog to the Eagle Rock emergency pet clinic first. My emergency vet contacted Dr Hoffman at Eye Care for Animals to see if my dog needed to be seen by her immediately. Dr Hoffman looked at pictures sent by the emergency vet via email, and determined that it can wait until the next business day (2 days later) and deferred to the emergency vet for proper treatment in the mean time. Between my emergency vet and Dr Hoffman, they gave my dog excellent care, and my dog is now recovering very nicely. The other reviewers are complaining about the price, but since my dog had essentially the same ailment twice in a row, I can safely say that the cost of treatment from start to end are roughly the same, even though I have more meds the second time around. Cost per visit is a little more here than my regular vet, but for the equipment, the expertise, and the excellent service, its absolutely worth it. On a side note, I really want to commend all vets in general. Think its hard enough to be a human doctor? Veterinarians have to learn how the body functions for all different species, learn which drugs are safe for some species and poisonous for others, and bear with uncooperative patients that bite and scratch. And yet, people expect to pay considerably less for all this than a human doctor. I know I couldnt do it, so I really appreciate the wonderfully patient and professional staff at Eye Care for Pets. If you want to check my credibility as a reviewer, you can look for my review on Yelp too.

After reading the other reviews I was appalled! I have nothing but praise for Dr.Hoffman! My Australian Shepherd suddenly went blind about 4 years ago. We went to an emergency vet and our vet in town, spent about $500 just to be referred to Eye Care for Animals. We went to see Dr. Hoffman, after she personally called me to discuss what the percentage for him regaining his eye sight would be, before making the 2 hour drive. When we got to her office, I was very impressed at how organized they were. I didnt have to wait but 10 minutes to be seen. The actual time with the doctor was about 10-15 minutes but she will spend as much time to answer questions as you need. I never felt rushed or that she didnt want to be bothered by my questions! She treated my dog with compassion and love throughout the entire visit. As far as the quick eye exam with a magnifying glass, this is what she does! She is a professional and expert in eyes. She knows what she is looking for when it comes to eyes. I never once thought that she was guessing at what could be wrong with him. The only guessing was with the dosage of medication that would work for him! He regaining his eye sight within 3 days! He has lost his eye sight 4 different times over the last 4 years due to an autoimmune disease but regains his eye sight every time we go back to see her. Maybe it is the surgical costs that are giving Dr. Hoffman bad feedback (I personally have not had to have surgery on my dog and cannot comment on the area) but as an eye doctor for animals, I would highly recommend her services and facility!

$255 for a one hour initial visit (actual talk time/exam with doctor is 10 minutes, wait time in lobby 45 minutes, 5 minutes in accounting). Suspected my dog has cataract and the story is pretty much the same as the other post. They wanted $9000 for both eyes!! Do they really need that much and take advantage of worry sick owners? Let’s do some math, the surgery take about 2 hour, if that. Plus 4 follow up visits of 1 hour each. For a total of no more than 6 hours (including your sitting and wait time) of the doctor’s time; medication to be no more than $1000 total, so that’s $8000 for no more than 6 hours of the doctor’s time. Wow!! $1333+ per hour ??!! There were many worry sick owners so I think their business is good because they even offer payment plan if you can’t pay for it. So if they do just one cataract surgery a day, they are getting almost $300,000 per month. Keep in mind they have like 6 stores!! $300K X6=$1.8 million per month and over 18 million dollars per year!! Human cataract surgery is $3,000, why so expensive for animal? If they just have some passion about animals they will not take advantage of others like this. I hope when the hospital owner in his mansion with his Bentley and Ferrari can see the faces on those pet lovers worry sick about their family pet. How can they live with themselves? I can not afford the costs so I would have to live with seeing my dog gradually going blind for the rest of her life. This place should face judgment day.

We took our rescue dog Roscoe almost 2 years ago to see Dr. Hoffman and could not be happier with the results and the great treatment that we received from EVERYONE at Eye Care for Animals. Roscoe came to us without sight and now he is the happiest, funniest dog running and playing with all of our other dogs. So Grateful for Dr. Hoffman and her amazing skill! I will say that the surgery aftercare is very difficult with the frequency and number of essential medications that have to be applied/given. Plan ahead !!! It was So worth it!!!

On her first visit to Dr, Combs, my Yorkie was given antibiotics and Optimmune for a painful eye. After 3 days, my Yorkie still had great discomfort. Dr. Combs said give Optimmune twice a day. That did not work so I called for a next day appointment. Dr. Combs said unless the eye was completely closed, they would not see her. "Go somewhere else," is what they said. We did and now my Yorkie is much better.

Dr. Konrad is very caring and her follow up is great. Very caring and gentle. Compassionate. She went above and beyond with her follow up for our pup, even though she knew there was little she could do. Shes been willing to see her and make sure she hasnt been in pain, as we try to say goodbye.

Very caring Veterinarians and staff. They really take there time to make sure you fully understand what the problem is and then give you options to handle it. I really felt like an expert about my dogs condition when I left. My dog is also doing so much better now and her eyes are healed.

I agree with all the other reviews. Dont walk out, RUN out!!! They are out for your money. No compassion, dishonest and unprofessional. There are other ophthalmologist that would take care of your pet without ripping you off. Dr. Michael Chang at VCA Los Angeles is the best one around.
