Everyone is very nice but we went in because our 3-year old dog was very sick. She stopped eating (totally unusual) and was moving stiffly. They diagnosed pancreatitis, kept her for 2 days and then sent her home with antibiotics, pain/antinausea and antifungal meds. They thought she might have a urinary tract infection or some other infection because of her persistent fever. She still wasnt eating and wasnt getting better and continued to have a fever. We went back almost daily for saline injections under the skin which is all they would do but she still wasnt getting better. They said they really didnt know what was wrong and did a test for valley fever. They kept saying to wait and had no suggestions as to what to do while we watched our dog continue to deteriorate. Finally a week after we first brought her in (and $2500+ in bills), she could barely walk downstairs so we took her in to the emergency at UC Davis VMTH. They were able to stabilize her and diagnosed her with polyarthritis. There was no sign of pancreatitis or any other infection and they ran every test in the book. She was in the hospital for 5 days and has been slowly recovering since. After being home for a few days, the doctors have put her on steroids and shes almost back to normal. Surprisingly the bill was about $500 less than at WVC even thoug they had her for several days longer, did an echocardiogram, blood tests, joint taps, blood cultures, tests for lyme disease and other parasitic diseases and a whole lot more. We think that Woodland Vet Clinic should have referred us to the VMTH the minute they realized they couldnt diagnose our dogs problem. If we had waited until they finally got back their Valley Fever results our dog might have died. They were good about sending our dogs pet insurance and they were friendly but they were also irresponsible about not handing her over to VMTH, where there are many more resources, much sooner.

My experience with Woodland Veterinary Hospital has been nothing but amazing. My family and I just got a new puppy, Jackson, one evening he was playing around in our living area and started crying. So I went to investigate the situation and noticed that he was bleeding in his mouth, I freaked and didnt know what to do. I called Woodland Veterinary Hospital searching for some advice on what to do. They told me that it would be best to bring him and get him checked out. Upon our arrival they greeted us and took Jackson in the back to take a look at him, the doctor came out and discussed what he observed and thought that his jaw was broken. I was in panic mode now, not knowing what happened and how it happened. The doctor calmed me down and reassured me that everything was going to be okay. He went over the procedure with me and made sure I was aware of what was going on the whole time we were there. Once he was sure that Jacksons jaw was truly broken he set it in to help it heal. After setting Jacksons jaw and taking him home, the next day I received a call from the doctor to see how Jackson was doing, he even took the time out to call around and see if there was anything else that we should be doing to help the healing process. We had to go in at least once a week to make sure everything was setting right, and change the bandage if needed. The staff was AMAZING they treated us with nothing but respect. They are all kind and loving to the animals that they see and treat. They make you feel as if you are part of the family. I would recommend Woodland Veterinary Hospital to anyone who has animals, and they are the only place that we will take our animals to.

i took my dog there he had to be put down he was very old and his kidneys had went. i was broken up about it i payed the extra money for a private cremation he meant the world to me. i could barley afford to put him down let alone the extra 200 for the cremation but i decided to not pay other bills so i could get my dog the respect he deserves in death as i gave him in life. a month and a half passed and i realized i had no contact from them in the 3 to 4 weeks they said it would take to get his ashes back, so i call them and get the run around. i call back the next day and they tell me they miss labeled my dogs body and sent in for a group cremation. I was extremely up set. i had that dog for 18 years he was more like a brother to me then a pet. i came in crying my eyes out over my sick dog and they have the nerve to miss label him. so i told them i wanted my money back and they had the nerve to offer me a partial refund. needless to say i got even more upset, and it wasnt until after i told them that they will be hearing from my lawyer that they refund my money. the actual vet him self was a nice man, but they lose every thing on the staff i regret ever taking my friend to this place. may not happen often but once is more then it should ever happen. if you care about your pet do not take them here.

When I moved here in 2004, one of the first things I did was find this vet for my curmudgeon of a cat, Buddy. I was immediately thrilled with the openness and cleanliness of the facility, the genuine engagement the vets had with all of the animals that came through the door (quite a few!), and the big surprise was they were significantly cheaper in all aspects, from labs to surgery, than my former vet in Sacramento. Through the years, the staff and the vets have helped me with nearly every imaginable feline scenario, from chipping to toenail clipping, from abcesses, the dreaded Cone of Shame, and unfortunately euthanasia...compassionately, gracefully and with simple dignity. Now, my two new feline thugs see Dr. Rhode mostly, but have seen Dr. Johnson and Dr. Denny. The online service is superb and the staff is what you would expect from a great small local business, warm, friendly, concerned and helpful. I dont know why anyone would go anywhere else with their animal companion.

Very sad and disappointed with this business. Ive been taking my dogs there for six years and have excellent credit with them. My dog is very sick and I tried to make an urgent appt. I explained to them that I dont get my check until Monday, would they take a post-dated check--no. I then arranged an emergency transfer from my savings, but explained that the $$ wouldnt be in until tonight. They continued to say they needed payment at the time of service. The office manager proceeded to tell me that dishonoured checks are sent to the District Attorney--thank you, just what I needed to hear when my dog is sick and Im making every attempt to get the money for them today. They told me to call Care Credit and ask for an increase. I made an earlier appt with another vet who is much less expensive and probably better then Woodland Vet. I will never recommend Woodland Vet to anyone again. They are extremely expensive. There are better vets in Woodland, and cost much less.
