The office was really nice, clean, and had plenty of things for the kids to do. At first glance, I would have expected this to be a wonderful office. The gal at the front desk was not very pleasant. Not a smile out of her once. The kids went back for their exams, the nurses were very kind, the kids got to wear headphones and watch a movie during their exam. Cool experience, and kept them mostly occupied while the exam happened. Here is where is turned around very quickly for me, fluoride was pushed on us, even when I expressed how our previous dentist told us we live in an area with high fluoride in the water already, and the kids didnt need it. They refused to listen to me, or to even look up the map our previous (and now current again) dentist showed us about the fluoride placement in the city. Made me very angry. The dentist claimed my 5 yo had a cavity in one of her bottom right molars, and wanted to go ahead and fill it that day. I declined because after the fluoride incident, I did not trust this office. I scheduled an appointment out just to suffice them, but called the next day to cancel. Our children were placed on medicaid insurance through the Obama-care insurance crap (even though we make far more than what qualifies someone for medicaid). I tried going to this dentist since they took medicaid, but I feel they were trying to use up any and all money they could through medicaid. We have since gone back to our original dentist, HAPPY to pay out of pocket for far better quality care, not just trying to rip us off, and put my 5yo through the agony of having to have a filling, that our now dentist says is not there. There is not a soft spot, not a crack, nothing, just a stain, and he wont fill something that is not there on a child. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE!!!! I feel they will try to use and abuse any insurance they can, and always get a second opinion on what they have told you. I will gladly pay out of pocket for a dentist who I can trust to have the care and best interest for me and my family.

I have 3 children ranging in ages 12-19. Over the years, I have had many experiences at various dentist offices, with different dentists. I decided to try Cool Mt Kids Pediatric Dentistry because I heard how wonderful Dr. Derek and his staff are. I took my 12 yr. old there for a regular cleaning/check-up. I was more than satisfied! This was the BEST experience I have had taking my child to the dentist and my 12 year old agrees! During my daughters appt., Dr. Derek found that she had decay under a filling in a baby tooth, which was so bad that it was close to damaging her permanent tooth. I took her back for a second appt. to get the current filling removed and get a new filling to stop damage to her permanent tooth. This was not your basic situation with a cavity and filling, and Dr. Dereks expertise was more than evident to me, especially since I have had so many experiences with dentists over the years. Dr. Derek was gentle, kid friendly, professional and exceptional in every way! I will take my daughter to Dr.Derek from here on out. I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to do so because I want to help other mothers searching for a competent pediatric dentist. I highly recommend Cool Mt Kids Pediatric Dentistry!

I emailed Cool Mountain Kids Pediatric Dentistry asking if they accept my daughters insurance and some other questions, and the office called me back almost immediately! The office staff answered all of my questions and I was able to make an appointment right there on the phone. I took my daughter to her appointment, they were able to get her in in just a few days. The office is just beautiful. The walls are colorful and there is a beautiful, clean play area with toys and books for the kids. All the office staff was kind, and friendly (much needed for me, who was taking my 1 year old daughter in to see a dentist for the first time ever.) The Dental Assistants were kind and caring with my daughter, and I felt special when we went back to the exam room and they had a little chalkboard with my daughters name written on it, and it was sitting on a dental chair. The Dentist and the Assistants had so much information to give me as far as dental advice for a toddler. The dentist came in and was AMAZING with my daughter during her first exam and cleaning. I will be coming back to Cool Mountain Kids Pediatric Dentistry for sure, and I am passing the word along to my friends who are looking for a pediatric dentist!

We were looking for a new dentist for our six kids. In our family, we have from teenagers down to a toddler, so we wanted somewhere they could all go and be comfortable. Part of what had prompted the search for a new dentist was that we knew a couple of our kids needed more serious work done, and it couldnt be put off any further. Dr. Miller and his staff were excellent. They were extremely helpful and courteous not just with the kids, but with my wife and I as well. Our kids were made to feel at ease, and they enjoyed being there. Also, since we dont have dental insurance, we were trying to figure out how to make everything work financially. CMKs office helped us work through several options, and we really felt that they went the extra mile to make it work for us, almost to the point that we felt like we were taking advantage of them! Bottom line: Highly recommended if you need a dentist for your kids!

Im a dental hygienist here in Colorado Springs, and I am so happy to have found a fantastic pediatric dentistry office in Cool Mountain Kids! Dr. Miller is wonderful, and Tina and Crystal (his dental assistants) and very kind and knowledgeable. I also love that their office is beautiful, clean and the staff takes time to appropriately barrier the keyboards and equiptment so there is no cross-contamination between patients! They are also very sweet with my 4 year old son who has Sensory Processing Disorder and some other developmental delays. 5 stars! Edit to original post: One way to know if you are working with a quality dentist is to look at the staff turnover; good, ethical dentists usually have very slow turnover, and for the few years Ive been with Dr. Miller there has been no turnover at all. Overall a quality office with quality people and quality care!

My daughter was referred her from her other dentist for getting a cavities filled and due to her high anxiety and fear of the dentist. Upon the first time we went to make an intinal appointment the environment was so much more calmer than her other dentist office. We just had her cavity filled today and it couldnt have gone ANY better!!! My daughter did such a great job and it wouldnt have been able to happen if the staff and Dr. Miller and the environment werent great!!! We definitely will be continuing her teeth journey with dr miller!! I have made not only my oldest child, but my youngest child a rountine checkup!! I look forward to having you all build a trusting relationship with my children in such a calm environment!
