STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE This center in Newtown murdered a second dog in under two months. On Friday night we can in with a dog in major distress and they wouldn’t do lifesaving surgery on her until they received $5000 up front this is at 9pm! When we finally did come up with the money and started the surgery she was beyond saving! The first dog we lost due to the incompetence of the staff! Here that story! Well I have to say how totally disgusted I am with the service that we have received. The has been mistake after mistake with the front desk people besides the rude treatment by some of the front desk. Topping on the cake. We followed their rules about refiles on meds for the dog. 48 hours’ notice and for the third time.in under a week it was not taken care of. With excuse after excuse on why things are not done like the vet printed the script but forgot to sign it. The request never made it in the back. I went in to pick-up 4 pills to get us through until we can the full script and the bill was almost $14 for 4 pills when I sat down and figure out it was almost a 100% mark-up on them. DISGUSTING I really like the dr. we have been working with but I cant deal with the horrible staff. Their customers services it terrible. THE WORST WAS WHEN MY HUSBAND BOUGHT OUR DOG IN BECAUSE HE PASSED AWAY ON A SUNDAY AND OUR VET WAS NO OPEN. THEY GAVE HIM AN ISSUE BECAUSE THERE WAS ANOPEN INVOICE FOR $14.00! YES I SAID $14.00 FOR PILLS WE WERE TOLD NOT TO WORRY ABOUT! DISGUSTING!

I brought my dog here after a night of vomiting and diarrhea. She was dehydrated and needed an IV. They had her there for four days. I should have taken her home after two but the tech (or front desk?) had said she was still not keeping food down. In the first two days, they did two x-rays and an ultrasound but really did nothing for her the second two days. As she is 15 1/2, I trusted their advice. My bill was very high and they never came to any conclusion. Once I brought her home, I went back to her regular food, etc and she was fine. I am assuming it was just some sort of dog flu. But, $5000 spent. My biggest complaint would be the lack of communication. No one called me during the day with updates. When I called them, they were too busy to come to the phone. When I went to visit her in the evenings, they were all too busy to come and talk to me. Even when I picked her up, no doctor came to talk to me. Again I was told they were busy but would call me that evening to talk through what they did and any conclusions or instructions. I never got a call. The only reason it is two stars and not one is because they were friendly and responsive day 1 when I took her in and she did need the IV.

New years eve we returned home to find our Beloved Rottie/Shepherd mix , Gunner , in serious distress. he was panting wildly and drooling. We nursed him thru the night and in the AM we had to rush him to NVS. These people could not have been more in tune with his condition. He was whisked into an exam room and tested immediately. The Tech sat with us and explained his condition. He had a tumor explode in his stomach and was basically bleeding out into his own tummy. She explained the treatment( if we so desired) was to operate and then followup with Chemo and radiation. His life expectancy would be months at best. We chose to let him go without all that suffering. They provided a private room where we loved him up in his final time with us. (tears streaming again) They administered the necessary solutions and he passed. Again they let us morn him for as long as we needed. (Tears ++) they provided us a very nice heavy duty cardboard coffin to bring him home for a proper burial. I cant say enough about the consideration of these establishmen and their entire staff. Thank You. Bill & Marty W

I was referred to NVS by my veterinarian. He suspected my kitty ate a foreign object and had an obstruction. Well of course I took her immediately.. as I walked in I was immediately greeted. I walked in crying and tended to me; put me in an exam room so I could have some privacy, gave me tissues and water. Dr. Zeldis came in and was so attentive and caring and understanding. I flooded her with questions and concerns and she took the time to answer everyone of them. The ultrasound doctor was amazing and spoke with me as well, he was on call and arrived minutes after we arrived. My kitty is being kept overnight and they let me go say goodnight to her. The two ladies at the front desk were both so kind and caring and very helpful!! I cannot say enough to compliment this practice. Even the nurses in the back were so kind. I HIGHLY recommend NVS for any of your emergency vet needs. Its WORTH the travel- as I live an hour away. My kitty is in great hands & thats half the worry, hoping you can trust the professionals caring for your pet.

At 5:00 on Saturday morning we rushed our dog Moe into NVS in a life threatening situation. The vets and vet assistants at NVS were nothing short of miracle workers. They worked tirelessly for the next two days to save Moes life. Moe had a staff member assigned to him every minute of the day and night to continually assessed his vital signs. This continued for over two day straight until his situation was less grave. Late Monday afternoon Moe was released with very clear instructions. Moe continues to improve daily in the comfort of our home. The staff at NVS were not only life savers, they were supportive, caring and informative every step of the way. I cannot say enough about the high quality care our dog and our family received at NVS. I am so thankful a place like NVS exists in our community.

stay away - read my yelp reviews - So here we are once again. Almost 3 years to the day, Max had to be put down today because of the hip replacement that was done by a MD that is no longer there. He was only 5 years old. The implant in his hip was dislodging from where it was inserted into his bone. We were told that we would live a long and healthy life. Max has been in pain. Max did not deserve an arrogant MD attempting to be like god. Please, Please, Please - do you homework before coming to this place. We love you Max

We recently had to make the very difficult decision to put our baby girl down. However, from the minute we were rushed in to the time we said our final goodbyes every single person we came in contact with was nothing but compassionate and caring. The doctor who treated my baby was extremely caring and was honest with all the possibilities that could have happened. When it came time to say goodbye they gave my family all the time we needed. They did not rush us at all. I would truly recommend this hospital to anyone.
