Blatant discrimination toward pre-existing conditions. Let me start by saying, I have been type 1 diabetic for over 14 years, however in that time I have been involved in exercise. I consider myself an athlete, and have competed in many events, and follow a very strict diet and exercise regime, training 5-6 days per week. I went into MedExpress because I was having issues with reflux and chest discomfort for the past 3 days. My guess as to the cause was damage to the diaphragm or a slight hernia caused by my intense training program, nevertheless I chose to go in because seeing my primary doctor would have taken at least a week. I wish i had chosen to wait. Upon entering the floor staff was professional and the environment clean, they took my information and my history as well. However, the NP that saw me was extremely rude and insensitive from the start. She started by blaming my symptoms on a nerve damage related issue, and even went as far to say "like the numbness you feel in your feet" Right from the start she labeled me, without even hearing me. After explaining that I was an athlete, my training, and how well I take care of myself, she went as far to say that it didnt matter how well i took care of myself due to me having diabetes.... The only reason i did not walk out immediately was I wanted to get an xray to rule out a hernia. She then insisted I get an EKG, which i understand is standard procedure, however she stated that because of my diabetes, i could have had heart attacks and never felt them... I explained to her that the day prior I had just run over 10 miles in the heat, that every one of my workouts is a stress test. Again she did not hear me, and continued with her biased and discriminatory behavior by stating athletes "drop dead" all the time, and I could be in end stage organ failure and may not know it... During the EKG I told the tech that the symptoms had come about after I had a large salad post training... The NP then stated "you could do with more salads..." Keep in mind Im about 9% BF Ive never had anyone speak to me this way, and show such prejudice toward my pre-existing condition to this extent. Not only was it hurtful but extremely unprofessional, any other profession would not get away with speaking to a patient/client in this manner. There was absolutely no reason to speak to me this way, and also look past the obvious fact that i was not some sickly person that does not take care of himself. I would not recommend going here, unless you absolutely have to. Needless to say the reason i was having the reflux had nothing to do with being diabetic... Let me end this by saying, if you have diabetes and a health professional tells you that exercise will not help you, then you need to go see someone else. The fact is exercise of all kinds is invaluable to your health and wellbeing long term, dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

Will never go back to Med Express again . Had taken my son and girlfriend to there after being in a car accident that all cars were totaled in , not just a fender bender . The rude receptionist said that they needed a claim number from the insurance co and their drivers license . She said they couldnt be seen unless they had that . She also , said if they didnt have the info by closing at 8 pm she wouldnt see them at all . I guess she missed the part where they were in a bad accident and had to be seen and didnt have time to call the insurance co . So we had to call the insurance co . She defiantly needs a new career since she was so uncompassionate . She didnt even ask if they were ok . My son complained of chest and rib pain and they didnt even take an x ray until I insisted they did . The rude nurse or staff member replied and told the staff member , oh you better just take the x ray for him so his mom can sleep tonight and had repeated to me several times over we will do it so you mom can sleep tonight . She was doing it in a sarcastic way and uncompassionate about it . Dr was rude too. They didnt even put anything on the burns they had from the airbags . It was a total waste of a visit and all of the staff need a new job where they dont deal with society and especially should not work with people or are sick and injured . I would not recommend his place at all . Even the next day I called about a question about the X-ray and they guy was rude . I still cant believe we asked for a claim number for an accident that had just happened before they would exam my son and his girlfriend . That sad that insurance is before injury . FYI I gave only one star because I had too , it should be no - stars for rating . Beware and dont go there . They should be investigated .

My first time at MedExpress and definitely my last time. I was treated so badly here. I over heard the doctors GOSSIPING about me. Yes Im young but my pain had nothing to do with my age or color. My right leg is dealing with pain. Dr.Teresa Long I came to MedExpress for help not for you to make me feel worse and joke about my pain. I waisted my time & $75.00 Copay at this place. I should have just went to Christiana Hospital for help. Ive never seen a GOSSIPING DOCTOR who talks about there patients to other employees. Word of advise DR.TERESA not every AFRICAN AMERICAN MAN is on drugs or crimes and thats how you treated me. I work everyday very hard. And no im not on medicade DR.TERESA I spend $107.00 on cigna insurance plus Copay when I see a doctor witch happen to be $75.00 today at MEDEXPRESS. Im very upset how you treated me today. I didnt appreciate your aggressiveness, gossiping & rudeness. You are a DOCTOR your suppose to help patients not laugh and joke to other staff & patients about them. Dr.Teresa you tried to embarrass me infront of your staff and other patients today. You need to be reported

I was running a 101 fever and asked to sign for my prescription. I saw the prescription and asked for a different one. The receptionist charged my card. When the nurse brought me my medicine, it was the same medicine that I had already rejected. I rejected it again. The woman behind the counter gave me a new prescription that could not be filled there and then refused to give me a refund for the the original prescription. She stood there yelling at me about it when I told her that I would be filing a complaint for charging me for medicine that I was not given. When I asked for her name, she refused to give it to me. Another employee finally came over and told her that she could give me a refund that because I hadnt accepted it, the prescription hadnt been filled. I will never go there again.
