If it were possible to give no stars as a review, I would do so. My growing dissatisfaction with Macungie Medical has reached the point at which my family will be finding a new PCP. Frankly, the only reason we stayed with MM this long was Dr. Bendit, and his departure from this practice further confirms my opinion that the quality of service at Macungie Medical has steadily decreased to the point of unacceptability. Among the numerous reasons we are leaving: 1. It is virtually impossible to speak with a representative or to get a return call within an appropriate amount of time (I consider same day appropriate). 2. The majority of the medical receptionists and nursing staff (I have encountered a few exceptions) are entirely unprofessional, discourteous, and miserable. They are not welcoming or friendly, in the least. 3. I have personally overheard front desk staff discussing patients and their concerns / bills. This is a flagrant violation of HIPPA and makes me wonder if they treat my information with a similar disregard. 4. I have experienced COUNTLESS billing issues that have resulted from errors on the part of Macungie Medical and St. Lukes. I have exceptional insurance coverage, yet I have spent innumerable hours on the phone resolving and attempting to resolve issues that resulted from someone elses carelessness or inattention. Frankly, this should not be my responsibility. This utter waste of my time has resulted in frustration, annoyance, disgust, and dismay. Honestly, I wonder if its even worth my time to write a review. The sheer volume of negative reviews for this facility should have merited attention / intensive changes prior to my review, but--in my opinion--things have gotten progressively worse. It is glaringly apparent to me and, apparently, to the many other dissatisfied customers that Macungie Medical / St. Lukes care very little about customer service and patient satisfaction, and for this reason, my family will take our business elsewhere.

I hesitate to even give them 1 star. Ive been going to Macungie Medical for probably 20 years, only because thats where my parents started taking me so I stuck with them, and they are at a convenient location for me. For years now Ive been upset by their consistently unfriendly and unhelpful front desk staff. They actually make you feel like you are inconveniencing them just about every time you call or even show up for an appointment. The last thing you need when you are sick is to be treated like that. I never had any major issues with the doctors, but now that they have a physician assitant, I have not had good experiences with him. And I wouldnt say any of the doctors Ive had are anything to rave about either. Definately recommend NOT GOING HERE. I am in the process of finding a new family dr even though Macungie Medical is the closest most convenient place for me to go, their service is just too sub-par and really unacceptable. I cant believe they are allowed to run they way they do. Perfect example - I just called them and they answered the phone "Valerie speaking". Not even, "Hi, This is Macungie Medical". Plus, they want to charge to fax your records to another dr - of course penalizing you for leaving their sucky practice.

My husband and I were new to the area when his job relocated us from Atlanta. Both Dr.s Liaw & OConner primarily treat him for a host of serious health issues. I mostly see Todd Zoltack who has always seen to my needs. He never fails to inquire how my husband is doing by name. Lastly and most recently, his concern about something he could not readily discern, he sent me to a specialist at which time it was discovered I had a "very aggressive" malignant tumor in my Sinus Cavity. The ENT I saw, (also within the St. Lukes System) performed surgery but thankfully, although he removed most of it, knew his limitations and referred me to a surgeon more proficient in the type of surgery I would require near my brain at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. The surgery was successful and I am declared 100% Cancer Free. However, I am writing from The American Cancer Society sponsored Hope Lodge where my husband and I have resided while I undergo the last 2 of 6 weeks of radiation to insure there is no remaining microscopic cells that could have this come back. Dr. Zolzack & my husband who made me go see him along with all the doctors and Oncologist, etc. caring for me I owe my life to. Thank you!

This practice has gone downhill so fast, and I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. Where to begin.... The doctors really dont care anymore. Its like an assembly line of sick people, and they go from door to door, doing as little as possible for each patient. They dont dig deep for any answers, and if they cant figure out whats wrong with you, TOUGH. The nurses are MISERABLE. They make that very clear. They complain about being short staffed and complain about the staff that IS there, to the patients. There is not one ounce of professionalism among the nursing staff. The crew at the desk are horrible. They complain to you about being tired and their wanting to go home. They constantly send bills to the wrong insurance company, and send labs to places your insurance does not cover. For those of you reading this, this is just a glimpse of what is wrong with this practice. My list would go on and on, but you get the point. I got our charts and went to Trexlertown Family Medical, where things are really good so far.

Ive been a patient there since 1996. I dont know if it is the takeover by St. Lukes, or the retiring of Dr. Bendit, but service has declined. The staff at the front desk do NOT answer the phone! To make an appointment Ive had to call back several times, as it will always go to voicemail. Come to find out, one of the staff said they dont even know how to check the voicemail! Another thing Ive personally witnessed while standing in line to check in recently....three of them watching a video on a cell phone while the phone was ringing off the hook. There was only one lady doing work at the time. The other three were watching a cell phone!!! Then I observed another phone call that went unanswered while nobody could stop what they are doing to put the person on HOLD. That is NOT a good way to run a business. They are loosing customers left and right and dont seem to care. My family is seriously considering finding another local doctor as it is just to hard to get an appointment at Macungie Medical any more, and the staff doesnt care.

My husband and I have had nothing but positive experiences with Macungie Medical Group. Dr. Liaw is all we could have hoped for in a medical practitioner and more! He has been our primary care physician for over 15 years now and has always provided the absolute best care, best advice and treatment during every visit and for every issue. Dr. Liaw personally responds to our phone calls when we have questions and many times he has called to follow-up and see if we are feeling better. We are always able to schedule an appointment within a day or so (many times the same day) of calling. The weekend hours are great, since not everybody gets sick Monday through Friday. The office is clean and the staff are friendly. Our requests for refills are always processed promptly. We often recommend Macungie Medical Group to our friends. Dr. Liaw is an excellent physician, very friendly, and truly cares for his patients. Macungie Medical Group has our total loyalty as patients!
