December 10 of 2009 I entered the ER of this hospital with severe pain on the right side of my face. I endured this pain for over a week before deciding to seek treatment. Upon entering the facility, I was signed in and told to have a seat. Normal procedure for an ER. I was soon called into triage and asked a few questions. Where does it hurt, the extent of pain, etc. I never recieved any vital sign checks. Not even a temp. Again I was told to wait. I was called to a back room where a nurse walked in and asked what my problem was. I told her I have a bad tooth on that side and am in severe pain. I wasnt sure if the pain was due to the tooth or ear infection as my ear suffered severe pain as well. Without any treatment, or even a look in my ear or mouth, she told me they could not help me. I explianed that I was taking well over the safe limit of aspirin and ibuprophin with no relief. I then asked if I could please have something for the pain as I was in tears. I was not looking for any medication above maybe a tylenol 3. It was explained to me again thay they could not help me. As I pleaded with this woman for some type of treatment, I was told that she believed I was there for drugs and asked to leave. I explianed that I dont have a drug problem, Im a college student that could get no rest due to the pain and saught medical care from a medical facility. She asked if I had 150 dollars. I didnt. She said if I could not pay her 150 dollars, they could not help and had me escorted to the parking lot by security. Still crying and completely embarassed and offended, I took my pain home. Later it was learned that I had a severe ear infection. Rather than endure any further embarassment, I painfully handled the problem over the course of days flushing my ear and applying heat. All this nurse had to do was look in my ear, discover the problem, and flush it there along with antibiotics (not narcotics). If my vitals were taken, she would have discovered a fever. The next day I contacted the Chief of staff (I wont mention his name) Upon explaining the problem, he admitted I was not cared for properly and offered to remedy the problem if I came back. After such embarassment and doubt in the ability of the hospital, I resisted. After it all, I dropped the whole thing. I was better and it didnt matter. So now here I sit with a 900.00 hospital bill that went right to collections before any attempt to collect by proper billing. Im being embarassed all over again being charged almost 1000.00 for being embarassed and not treated. I find it very unprofessional that I could have had my temp taken if I had 150 dollars in my pocket. If Im found in a car wreck, let me die before taking me to Brooksville Hospital!!!

Ive been here twice, the first time was in February because I had stomach bug and waited 6days not able to walk move eat or drink anything(no insurance), they ordered ultrasounds and catscans, the person in the room next to me had the flu, and he also was swayed into having catscans and xrays...the u/s lady was rude and seemed put off that she had to do her job, the cat scan guy was really nice though, denissee took care of me really well, after giving me fluids and medicine I felt like a million bucks. Too bad I dont have a million bucks to pay that $30,000 bill... Then I was there this past wk with my son, I believe he had the same thing, enteritis, the er intake nurse was rude, literally complaining about my sick baby crying, denissee came in and handled things much better, they ordered chest xrays, and a catheter and a few other tests, I only agreed to the catheter because I was told the quicker they got his urine the quicker we could leave, and I had to pick my daughter up from school later...2hrs later I went to the desk in the er and politely asked if anyone could give me the results bc I was going to be late to get my daughter, the lady snapped at me n told me to go back to the room theyll get to me when they get to me...so I left to get my daughter and get some type of food and fluid into my son since he hadnt had anything for 2days... I picked up his records to see what the results were, and they dont state anything, no common cold, flu, or anything on the unnecessary xrays....no reason for a baby to be violently ill? I know youre saying I shouldve stayed to get the results, and I would have if I didnt have another child that solely depends on me, but whats the point of getting medical records that have no answers? I bet if u scraped your knee, theyd order xrays. Ive never encountered shady doctors n dentists like there are in this small town, always out to get paid, who cares about the person or whats wrong with them... Honestly denissee is the only reason Im giving this review Any stars. All of the other nurses should take some pointers from her, Im sure u deal with allot of shady rude patients but not everyone is, maybe find another career or prescribe yourselves some xanax, u cant treat people like $#it, the only reason this hospital is open is because this town doesnt have anything else for miles and miles. Im from Sarasota, Im used to having almost 10 hospitals in a 10mile radius to choose from, they all have pros and cons, but are way better than anything in this area.

I was a patient in this hospital back in 2012 and it was one of the worst experiences Ive ever had. I was homeless and trying hard to get work. One day my stomach started to hurt to the point where I had to stop walking. The pain started to go around into my kidneys. I was fearing the worst. Not another kidney stone?! A couple days later, the pain became unbearable. I made it to this internet cafe and asked them to call 911 for me. Two seconds later I collapsed on the floor from the pain. The manager walked outside to the parking lot and made the call. The paramedics were so rude to me. When they got me to the hospital they (GOD AS MY WITNESS) made me get out of the ambulance and walk into the hospital! I was pissed off at that point. Maybe they didnt care or thought I was faking it. Didnt have a choice. The staff was even worse. I explained my symptoms and they had me urinate in the half gallon container, and my urine output was dark brown with little black looking rocks on the bottom? The doctor was twisting my words around playing this "first you said this then you said that" game. I argued with her naturally because I didnt. She told me that I have had kidney stones and a urinary tract infection from drinking too much tea. Ok? She then told me that she will have my urine sent to the lab and she will be back to discuss the results. Ten minutes later, a nurse came in the room and I asked her what was on the bottom of the container. What happened next I believe sent me into shock. The nurse said "Oh nothing dont worry about it its just dirt". And she dumped my urine down the f****** sink. I couldnt believe my eyes. Totally disgusted! I didnt know what to do. I told the doctor and she didnt even care! WTF? Then on top of that I had to walk back in to town 3.5 miles in 90 degree weather only to find out later that they were supposed to call a cab for me. Too bad you cant give a below 0 star rating. Made me feel like I was in a psych ward or nursing home the way I was treated. Unprofessional to say the least. This hospital provided no treatment at all for me. Thank God it wasnt too serious.
