Last week we had to put one of our kitties down. Maggie, our 22 year old matron, lost her ability to walk and was in pain. We took her to the Emergency Vet and nothing showed up on labs or x-rays except some arthritic changes. Pain medication did not help her, she was suffering and we could not help her, so the sad decision had to be made. Anyone with a loved pet knows how hard this is, but I have to say that it was made at least a little easier by the Mandarin Pet Emergency Hospital. The entire staff was efficient and compassionate. Dr. Hicks who examined our Maggie the first day was honest and helpful with suggestions and Dr. Summers who had to help Maggie over the bridge was as kind a person as I have ever met. I sincerely hope we never have to visit them again, but we have lots of kitties and I am afraid we might. But at least if I do I know that I am going somewhere where they are professional enough to understand what can be done and empathetic enough when there is nothing left to do.

Being new to Jacksonville, I brought my dying (allergic reaction to antibiotics) cat to this hospital after Googling "Animal Hospitals." The Vet Techs were kind and thoughtful. We were seen right away. However, the DVM wanted to perform a series of tests to find the cause of the cats stress. Despite the obvious cause of an allergic reaction, the DVM pushed blood work, overnight stay, etc. Our estimate ended up being $875-$2,200 for possible services. The estimate consisted primarily of unnecessary tests meant for diagnosis, and did not include treatment. I felt as though the DVM was trying to take advantage of my vulnerable situation. I requested that only a steroid, some fluids, and a different antibiotic (to combat a possible infection) be given. Just these items amounted to $200 bill. I will not return to this clinic, and have since found referrals to other well-known clinics through friends.

This is a top notch veterinarian office. I am so incredibly grateful to Dr. Sarah. She is a phenomenal veterinarian and person. She is kind, honest and has given us the best possible care for our Labrador puppy. Hes gone in twice for various issues on the weekends, and both times, she has been compassionate, caring and you can tell she loves and cares for the animals. She listens and if she could be our regular vet, we would always go to her!! Your pet will be in excellent hands with her. Cannot recommend highly enough! Thank you Dr. Sarah!

I took my sick dog to this animal hospital on Christmas day. The technicians and veterinarian seemed genuinely concerned and more then capable. The doctor took the time to explain the procedures that needed to be performed and also why they were needed. I am happy to say that my dog is no longer sick and I am very happy and definitely will return in the future. In addition this is also a regular veterinarian so I may start going there for shots and stuff too

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THIS PLACE! I took my dog here because he was having trouble breathing (4:15am) As soon as I was "greeted" at the door the FIRST thing out of the Techs mouth was "Well, its going to be $115 for the visit. NOT "Good evening, how can I help you?" OR "Lets see what we can do for your pet". This dump is just like all the other SCAM centers in Jacksonville that ONLY care about money, not helping animals.

Dog had a snake bite, called to make sure they were open. Had $ to pay however would not take info via the phone "policy" meanwhile my dogs face was extremely swollen. VET I CARE.....more like VET DONT CARE . Will tell everyone I know they care more about stupid policy than treating emergencies. The lady on the phone could have cared a less. BAD BAD BAD.....

They are very understanding and capable, especially very late night. I believe the fee is reasonable and it is important for them to make it clear upon entry what the cost will be. They are not a charity, and they do a better job than my full time vet. I just got a new puppy and I am going to make thw switch

Dr. Greshake and the staff were wonderful when I had to take my diabetic Chihuahua to them several week ago in an emergency situation. Thank you so much for the wonderful care you gave to Scooby.
