Oh my! We found out about Banfield on a visit to Petsmart. They offered a pet insurance program, which looked expensive, but pretty much broke even on the puppy stuff and we had two new ones. It also covered any miscellaneous office visits. After the routine vaccinations, it was time to get the girls spayed. One drawback wed already noticed, was that we never got the same vet twice. I thought it was unusual when they didnt tell us to give them no food or water from midnight the night before. Luckily, wed been through this a lot of times and new the dance. The morning of the surgery, we took them to Banfield and made sure they both peed outside before we went in. About 11:00, my daughter got a call from the vet. He told her (in very broken English) that they had done her dog, but refused to do mine, because her bladder was full and he TOLD us not to let them have anything to drink. So, we would have to reschedule and they didnt have an opening for another 10 days or so. We had scheduled them together for a reason. That way, they would both feel bad at the same time and one wouldnt be bugging the other to play, or whatever. They would have each other for consolation. So we went that afternoon to pick up the first dog. I was livid, and told him so. I also told him that they had NOT been given any food or water and they both emptied their bladder before they went in. The fact that they had waited 5 hours before operating, was not my fault. He just shrugged. When they brought the pup out, she wasnt wearing the plastic collar to keep her from licking. When I asked, they said it was $20 extra. I had never been charged extra for the collar before, but we had no choice. We got the same vet when we took the second dog in. When I went to pic her up that afternoon, he was bragging to me about her beautiful bikini incision. I looked at her little belly and it looked like she had been cut up by a 3 year old. The incision was jagged and red. Sure enough, a few days later, it was hot and draining from an infection. We took her to a different Banfield location, in a very inconvenient area. We told her about the experience with the first surgical date and she just laughed. She said that the dogs get full bladders all the time while they waited. All they did was manually empty them after they were anesthetized. The fact that they wouldnt operate on her was absurd. Then, she looked at the incision and her eyes popped. She said whoever did it must have been drunk because it was such a mess. She was treated for the infection and consequently did okay, but it was something that should never have happened. As far as the "insurance," thats a joke too. However if you dont buy it, you get charged $600 to get your dog spayed - we looked at the itemized statement. Wow! $600 and you still dont get the freakin collar! Save your pet some agony - find another vet.

Unsatisfactory of the Doctors service. Yesterday, I took my dog for her exam for the first time. My dog is a German Shepherd and she is very friendly, although her bark says otherwise. Yes, my 4 months puppy sure barks a lot, but she means no harm. When we arrive there, we literaly waited a whole 3/4 of an hour and I dont blame them, because I didnt have an appointment. When its our turn, the assistance led us in, and the doctors assistance took care of my dogs basic check up. Everything went well until the doctor comes in. He seemed friendly, and we greeted. When my dog got up on the examination table, she really didnt like it, she is resisting of being held and examine. I felt bad, because she is wasting the doctors time, but this is her first time, so I cant blame her. When the doctor examine her teeth, he was pressing the upper lip of my dog against her teeth, while he was trying to open up my dogs bottom jaw. She yelped in pain and when the doctor let go, she let out an aggressive bark and tried to BITE him. At that moment, we were all surprised, because its her first time being that aggressive. The doctor said he would be back, and he came back with a muzzle strap. We tied it on her and continued our exam. Needless to say, it was a surprise to us all, that she actually showed an aggression for the first time. Today, she is barking unusually a lot, and I am hoping that she doesnt gain an aggressive behavior. What I think that the doctor should do, is to pet my dog, give her some treats and associate with her more before moving on to examination. If he would have done that, she wouldnt resist and got aggressive on him. I am not sure, if my puppy will want to go back into that room without issue anymore. So, if you are planning to bring your dog there for the first time, my advice is to beware of its behavior and reward her plenty during examination. As always, keep a lookout for any unacceptable behavior from their faculty. Overall, I enjoyed the assistances customer service, but not the doctors impatience. It is totally unacceptable to hold on to her mouth like he did.

Im very surprised to read all of the negative reviews on here as my experience with Banfield has always been wonderful for the last 5 years that Ive had my Shih tzu/ Yorkie mix named Kenzo. Dr. Miller and her staff are extraordinary! Dr. Harowitz is also very pleasant and knowledgeable however hes only treated my Kenzo once however Dr. Miller always gives her undivided attention to each of her four legged patients, and calls me directly with status updates on my Kenzo when Ive had to drop him off for the day while I go to work. She also insists that if I have any questions, I can call her anytime. She always takes the time to educate me on my Kenzos health and well being, and she patiently answers all of my questions while reassuring me that everything will be okay. Her staff alewys reviews the medications with me and are very pleasant, cordial and professional. They call me the following day after every visit to check on my Kenzo. I have the Banfield plan and although its only covered in PetSmart, it helps drastically especially when it comes to preventative disease. Theyre open 7 days per week which is extremely accommodating for those of us who work during the week. Granted, I read some reviews in which people complained about long waits but it should be expected when you dont have an appointment! Animals with emergency situations obviously take priority and get seen first! Overall, its a great vet with a great staff and I will continue to bring my Kenzo here.

Scheduled an appointment, waited a week only for them to call me the day of the appointment to cancel and said that they dont have it available. I asked if its normal for them to have dates and times available online that they dont actually have the availability for. The lady said they tried calling me earlier throughout the week, this part was even worst because I will admit that I received some calls from different numbers; however I get spam calls a lot but EVERY single call I get that someone leaves a message informing me of the reason for the call I respond back to immediately. This is beyond proof of Horrible customer service how does this company make calls and does not Leave Messages! Also the lady said that they do 3 curious calls and that call we were on was only the second one, REALLY. But remember she already was calling the day of the appointment. She also didnt even know when I was scheduled for, so her lack of knowledge of the person she called and or was speaking to not alone me but my dogs name, it was just plan pathetic. Personally it was just an overall BAD first impression & experience I Will never refer them to anyone I no. Then Finally then Even if the lady over the phone showed any kind of sympathy in regards to the dilemma at hand would have even been appreciated but not even that was expressed, nothing was offered to rectify the situation. I WOULD GIVE NO STARS BUT GOOGLE REQUIRES that at lease 1 be left.
