Dr. Sela and staff are the only ones we will allow to treat our Boxer Olive who will be 5 years old in August. Dr. Sela was the first vet she saw when she was a puppy, and through all her shots she had absolutely no problems. He advised spacing them out and we ended up going back to the office about 5 times all together to have all her initial vaccinations done. We repeated that the following year. When we moved we were advised by a different vet at a VCA closer to our new place, that we didnt need to do all that, and allowed the VCA vet to give her a 4-in-1 shot, since it did not cost much more and would save a bunch of time in going back and forth to the vets. Yeah, bad move, she had a reaction that resulted in hives all over her body the following day. She was miserable, looked more like a Sharpei (sp?) than a Boxer and she was itching and scratching her self raw. The VCA vet said it had to be unrelated since it had been 18 hours already, and made us pay for an additional exam fee, an injection to stop the swelling, and medication for the next 3 days, twice daily, which is how long it took for all those itchy hives to disappear. Mind you, this had never happened before and she was inside on the couch just sitting there next to me when the hives started (they tried to say she was stung by a bee), so no relation my a**. In hindsight, I should have done my research, because stories like this are all too common online. Of course we go to Dr. Sela again now, but the unfortunate side effect of our dogs allergic reaction to that 4-in-1 shot at the VCA has been that she now seems to have a repeat of that hive reaction to vaccines. When Dr. Sela gave her her rabies vaccine this past year we had a Saturday appointment. She ended up breaking out in hives about half an hour after we left. When I called the Gentle Vet office they were just heading out the door but Dr. Sela sent his staff home and waited for us himself, gave Olive a shot and some medication for us to take home for her at no additional charge, and even waited with us for another half an hour until the bumps started to go away a little bit. Before we left, he told us to call his emergency number if it got worse. Such a sweet and caring man - WE LOVE DR. SELA!!!! Doc says for her next round of vaccines (spaced of course!) hell give Olive some meds before she gets the shot to minimize the chance of a reaction and well make sure to book the earliest appointment available so if she does still break out we can bring her back while the office is still open : ) Bottom line - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE GENTLE VET OFFICE AND DR. SELA AND HIS STAFF!!!!

I took my 1 year old pup there because her urine was spotting blood. The doctor look at her and obviously wants to do an urine analysis and he thinks its a UTI. We couldnt get her to pee for them so he gave me antibiotics for her with out a urine test. The visit was supposed to be 55$. He was trying to charger me 130 somthing!!! They tried to charge me for the test they didnt do. They charged me for the container to put my dogs urine in after he told go home get her pee and bring it back and charged me for medicine for something the doctor wasnt even sure of. I told them Im not paying for the urine test and I didnt realize about the container until I payed and left! So I paid 95$ for the visit and medicine. Now lets talk about the medicine the doctor told me to give her. Her first dose that night was fine, I gave it to her at 6 pm at 7 pm she started vomiting and I thought it was just a reaction to the medicine until she vomited through the night and the next day too. I took to another doctor on 411 and he said there that shes allergic to the medicine prescribed and the dose was too much for her. Never go here they will rack up your bill for no reason and harm your beloved animals. I will do my best to shut down this evil place. Now seeing this "doctors" response to what I said, I hope everyone can see how incredibly immature this man is. Telling the world of my private life as if that has anything to do with his joke of a business. I had a child at 16 big whoop, Im 20 yrs old and my son is almost 4 what does this have to do with my sweet little girl missy? Because Im 20 I cant take care of my dog? He didnt hurt me with writing what he did, he only hurt himself! People who actually look at these reviews will know what a joke YOU are. What kind of adult acts this way from an honest review on your buisness you .. not to mention the lady at the front brings her child there while shes working and you have the nerve to talk about my life.

When I moved here I took my dog for her visit and everything went well, though I thought it was expensive (but who was I to know prices). When my dog got sick he recommended emergency surgery for the next day that was gonna cost $1900 or my dog "was going to die". I didnt want my dog to die obviously but I didnt have that much money! The same day I took my baby to Coral Springs Animal Hospital for a second opinion where I was told my dog was sick an needed surgery but was in stable enough condition and it didnt need to be emergency. My dog was scheduled to have surgery for two days after and the bill was $900. I am SO happy I wanted a second opinion. I saved $1000 and I wasnt mislead into making a rash decision that would leave me broke. ANOTHER bad experience I had came from a friend I recommended to this doctor. When she took her puppy for a regular checkup she asked Dr. Sela how much it was going to be at the end of the checkup and when she told her she said she did not have that much money. He then asked her how much money she had on her and where she lived! (as to see if she lived in a nice or a poor area). She said she only had $50 on her (she lied by the way) and thats what he took! He charges you the highest amount of money to see if you fall for it and if you dont have that much, he negotiates or changes the price! You cant charge different prices for different people! Go with what others said and STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR! I wish I had read the reviews and took my dog somewhere else. No wonder there was no waiting line and no people in the parking lot...

He almost killed my dog! He is the worse and most uneducated vet I have ever heard of. He does not believe that animals can have adverse reactions/side effects to any medications or vaccines (not even a fever). He put my less then 5 lb dog on an antibiotic for a fever without educating us about anything. I called his office stating that my dog was tipping over her own feet, not eating, not even able to open her eyes, that I thought she was having a adverse reaction to the meds, and that I was going to take her off since she looked better just one day off of them. Instead of seeing her or calling me himself he had is staff call to tell me not to stop the meds. I looked up the med on the FDA website and after reading the side effects I noticed that she had every side effect possible. I was told by the FDA and the manufacturer of the med that I did the right thing by stopping the meds. She lost so much weight that when the wind blew she fell over. I had to syringe feed her for days, b/c she was to weak to chew solid food. When I went to is office to pick up my dogs records I asked him why he didnt tell me the side effects. He started raising his voice and said that there are no side effects of any meds. He wouldnt even look at the paper I printed from the FDA stating all of side effects. He did not like being questioned and said I was rude (even though he was the only one yelling). This is after spending over $800 dollars (since he also charges for a follow up, most vets dont). IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET GO SOME WHERE ELSE, OR YOU MIGHT COME HOME TO A DEAD PET!!
