I took my dog in for grooming and a bath. They ended up shaving off all of her fur! I had told the groomer that I wanted to get her TRIMMED up. She asked how many inches, like one inch, etc.? I said about two to 3 inches. I then told her to please get rid of all the excess hair and proceeded to show her where: her toes, around her thighs/back area, tail, plus sides, front and back of her head. She said you want that all off, I then said yes please take it all off, I want all the excess hair off. The thing is I also demonstrated with my fingers how much (2-3 inches). She then said that it might look extreme, but I didnt catch that. I only said well shes had her TRIM like that before so she should look good. My son had gone to pick her up and alerted me the groomer had shaved it all off. I then called in since I was working to see why they had done this. At the time the receptionist stated she didnt know why and would speak with the groomer. The weird thing is when I called the next day to follow up the same receptionist insisted that I said to SHAVE it all off. She said that the groomer had asked her if she heard the same thing and she said yes I heard her say it 3 times??? How did the receptionist suddenly remember that she heard me state SHAVE it all off? She then slipped and states well you said to take all the hair off. I said thats right but I showed her where I wanted it off and repeatedly stated TRIM not SHAVE! At the same time I noted her voice was escalating so I also found my voice escalating as well. I decided to call back instead the next day and speak with the manager. The manager was surprised to hear about my complaint and stated she needed to speak with the groomer. She said shed get back to me and as I was still talking she hung up on me. I had thought she would be more professional and get my phone number and name, but in thinking about it Im pretty sure she had to have heard of this complaint if she didnt even bother to gather my information. That was 21 days ago and no one from that office has ever called me back, especially the groomer. Whats really offensive in all this is the lack of customer service, professionalism and integrity to go the distance for a brand NEW customer. This was the most appalling offense of all. They never offered a refund or anything to fix this. I wonder if the vet (Dr.) knows this goes on in her office?

Great for shots not diagnosing problems. I have been taking my dog there since he was a pup in 2008. Have typically gone for shots only. Once they changed vets, care went out the window. It seems every time I took my dog for a problem visit I never got answers, just an estimate for other services. I took my dog there in August to report that he seemed to be having issues eating and was pawing at the right side of his face. It was blamed on tartar on his teeth and I was given a $600 estimate to clean them. They admitted the tartar was not severe. I passed. I changed him from hard to soft food and his eating improved. Early March his tongue began hanging out of the left side of his mouth. I took him back. The vet found no issue other than blaming the tartar again. I took him for a second opinion and they immediately found a mass the size of a dime on the right side of his tongue. They opened his mouth wide and there it was, clear as day. One week prior the vet at Big Bend found nothing. In fact she said he had normal tongue motion. The new vet, Southbay Animal Hospital, has recommended a biopsy. I called and told the desk person at Big Bend Animal Hospital of the findings and they promised to have someone call me. So far no call. I will never go back.

Just called Big Bend to try and have them see my pomeranian. We just moved to Covington Park and have not found a new vet. His bail must have turned and it was bleeding, nothing major but he is in pain and my baby and I wanted it looked at and remedied. The receptionists, after listening to me say the situation and that we are new in the area, made a point to tell me they were all booked up in appointments. Isnt a hospital also supposed to care for emergency situations?? Cant always plan an emergency around an appointment... it was until I pressed her I got well we could come in and wait to be fit in. Not an experience I want with my new vet on the first call...so Im going to pass and find a vet that cares and is passionate about animals..not one that put emergency situations off because of lack of appointments.

I went here for the first time today after hearing great things from my brother who takes his dog here. My kitten is 4 months old and seemed to be having some discharge from her ear so I decided she needed to go in. I called and was made an appointment for 4 hours later, much to my surprise! I was satisfied with the cleanliness of the facility and the niceness of the staff. I did not wait long at all before being seen once I had arrived. The technician and veterinarian were very thorough and gentle with my kitten. They examined her and concluded she had a bacterial infection in her ear. They cleaned her ear for me and gave her the first round of ear drops she would need. All in all I enjoyed my visit and had no complaints. I also received $10 off for being a new patient. Would recommend visiting!

Do not take your animals here! All they care about is $$. my dog jump over our fence and cut his leg open enough to need stitches. My husband called and they told him it would be 200$ for visit etc... when he got there they kept adding charges up to 700$!! my husband told them no and we would go to another vet that was very reasonable in price but they still charged him 50$ just to walk in the door!!! and the WORST part is they didnt even tape up the wound for us. just left the skin hanging! Never even offered!! who does that?? at least have some compassion for the dog! not everything has to be about how much you can get! worth the drive to go to a vet who cares.

SO HAPPY I GOT A SECOND OPINION! took my beagle in b/c he was limping really bad and was told he had herniated disc. I was told i needed to do the 10k surgery or he would be paralyzed and have to be put down! i decided to go home and process all the info b/c thats alot to take in after just thinking he pulled a muscle and needed some muscle relaxers. i got a second opinion who told me we could treat my dog with a medicine regiment and he would be fine. there was no need for a 10K SURGERY!! six months later my dog is back to normal and very happy!!! these people only care about making a buck and not your beloved pets
