COMPLAINTS: long wait time WITH AN APPOINTMENT, theres NOTHING AFFORDABLE about this place so dont let the name fool you, will NICKEL AND DIME you without hesitation, double-check your treatment plan before payment is rendered as they tried to OVERCHARGE me twice. If you want all the details -- read below (and no, I wouldnt normally spend my time writing this but thats how wrong everything felt to me): First of all... when I walked in for my 3:30 appt the waiting room was so packed there were no seats available. After waiting for a room to open up for their 3:00 appt we finally got to sit. We waited for OVER AN HOUR to get into a room. Do you know what its like to handle a 3 month old puppy for over an hour in a waiting room? The staff was very friendly so I tried ignoring the fact that I wasnt going to be leaving any time soon. The veterinarian and vet tech were kind and lovable with my puppy so no complaints there; however, it wasnt pleasant to receive a treatment plan for almost $300! I traveled from 40 minutes away to this vet because it was supposedly "AFFORDABLE". Please dont let the name fool you. I visited this clinic due to a Groupon offer for the first exam only being $12. Regardless, they still tried charging me the full $44 exam fee on the treatment plan (in addition to $30 for a fecal exam that I told them I didnt need since we had one done the previous month). On the 2nd treatment plan presented they again included the charge for the fecal. After adjustments and declining some suggested products I ended up paying almost $200 for the visit (I had to decline the shampoo and ear cleaning solution because my bill was becoming outrageous). I decided to check online to see if I was charged a fair price for my puppys medicine. According to the price on 1-800-PET-MEDS I paid about 30% more so I called the office to ask if they would price match. After hesitating after my question, the receptionist agreed to refund me the difference if I would email her a screenshot of the online price (at my request of course). Were talking about a $17 refund after spending nearly $200. ****My breaking point -- can you believe the receptionist called me back that the refund would only be $10 since I wouldve had to pay shipping online??? I told her the screenshot I sent clearly stated that if I spent an additional $3.?? that the shipping would be free so I asked her to just not credit me the additional $3.??. She replied "no". I know this may sound petty to some but its the principle of the matter-- DONT NICKEL AND DIME YOUR CUSTOMERS. I was patient and spent over 2.5 hours at this office without complaint but youre going to nickel and dime me over a few bucks? Thanks but NO THANKS! I cancelled my follow-up appointment and will be taking my business elsewhere.

I went to affordable pet hospital when I first noticed that my cat was very sick. He was very bloated around his belly and did not look well. Im new in town and hadnt had time to research a good vet yet and ended up going there because it was right down the road. After my cats exam, the male doctor recommended blood work ($200) and x-rays ($300). He said he did not recommend doing one and not the other .I decided to do the blood work first to see if he had an infection somewhere. They same doctor called the next day and told me his kidney values were high, meaning he had a kidney infection, a UTI, and was anemic. He recommended fluids every other day and gave me Clavamox, an antibiotic. My boyfriend took him in for fluids the next day and was hassled about x-rays again, even though we told them we wanted to see if the antibiotics and fluids would work first. The day after that, a random doctor who I didnt meet called me to tell me he had a UTI, which I already knew. I thought the call was pointless and strange until she recommended x-rays, again! The receptionist called me the next day and asked me if I was coming in for fluid again. I just felt harassed and like they were very eager to take my money. These are my decisions and I do not need to be pushed and bothered, especially when my kitty is sick and Im upset. I will be finding a more caring and respectful vet to go to. Their prices are only about $10 less than a nicer vet.

I took my rescue here because the exam was the most affordable I found. The techs seemed to do all the work, they were very friendly. But each time I got a different vet. My dog developed a large lump on his leg, the looked at it,but kept saying "for x amount more we need to do this test" I kept saying okay, but after so many "$$more" I had to say enough because I really didnt have any more money. Then they said well if you really cared for your pets well being you would buy this test.(after three test) they made me feel really bad, so they gave me a paper asking 600$ just to do a biopsy on it. I said I need to go home to think about it. Then they got frustrated and kind of said,"best of luck then, theres the door" I left with no answers and feeling like a bad owner. I called animal coalition of tampa, they really seemed to care about my dog and not the money. They outright quoted me 500$ to do the operation to get it off asap vs. The 600 just to do more tests. Im not totally against this practice, I have taken both my dogs here several times, but I leave with no answers.

This place is a joke. I called because, I somewhat knew it was to good to be true when I saw the name was "Affordable Pet Hospital" I asked for a quote to get my six month old kitten neutered, I was told 230 dollars ! I have three older cats that didnt even cost that much for all three to get neutered. Then the receptionist told me about their wellness program. Well thats an even bigger joke. They want 89.95 just to enroll your animal and then depending on the package 30 dollars a month. I added that up between my two cats and it came out to 852 dollars a year. Ive had cats my whole life they go to the vet once a year for shots and its NEVER cost anything close to that. Im very annoyed that its called AFFORDABLE pet hospital when its no where near affordable. Good thing I called and asked for information before I booked an appointment.

This place isnt any more "affordable" than any other clinic. The receptionist and vet tech staff was friendly, but the doctor definitely was not. He was cold (to the staff, clients and pets) very hard to understand and seemed to lack any personality. Poor bedside manner. I would not recommend this place, especially for emergencies, they dont even have an x-ray machine or an official website. Edit- I dont see why a competitor would waste their time to review a clinic so new it doesnt even have said amenities, but I like how you didnt bother to address the real problem. Perhaps unsatisfied clients didnt come to you because you had the personality of a rock. Just saying, I would never come back here again.
