This vet uses unconscionable business practices. The one located in the Burlington Shopping Center to confirm. Let me paint the awful picture. My dog was almost murdered by another dog and I had to rescue her from its jaws. I was bitten, had blood and dirt all over me, was clearly in shock, but my poor dog was in even worse shape. Fortunately, my established vet, THIS PLACE, for which I had been several times was close by. So, a kind stranger rushed me and my dog to them using her car. When we arrived, the vet took my dog in the back to evaluate her. I believe they flushed her wounds and gave her an antibiotic shot, and then recommended I take her to the emergency vet as it was closing time for them. No problem at this point, plus the ER vets are there all night. With me crying, my face bleeding and hands shaking, I called a friend to come get us as I needed to relieve the nice lady who was kind enough to drive us there. Again and this was apparent to the staff, I didnt have my car, or my purse, which had been locked in my car prior to the attack. They were all back at the scene. My friend arrived quickly to drive us to the ER, and this greedy place gave me the impression they would not release my trauma alert dog before I paid the bill! I didnt have my purse. I was literally in shock having been in a pit bull boxer mix brawl to save my dogs life. I was an established client in good standing. I asked if they could just send the bill, and they said NO!!! I could not believe it and I will never forget their refusal to mail me the bill, or maybe ask me to stop by the next day and pay them given the circumstances. I can only imagine what goes on behind closed doors. Fortunately, my friend was able to pay the $300 bill for me and we left. I understand that vets operate a business, but how Sarasota Veterinary Center handled this situation aligns with the other very poor reviews of this practice. Im happy to report my dog is fine after two huge surgeries and $5000 dollars. Also, apparently the ER vet is required to refer the patient back to the original vet after they are released from acute care - obviously thats about the money too. I adamantly refused of course, as this place would never see another dime from me. This is the whole story. You be the judge and ask yourself if this is the kind of place you want caring for your family member. Lastly, I know better now, but please dont allow your smaller dog with big dogs at the park EVER. Careful as I was hovering like a helicopter, it can happen in an instant; and I feel like a bad mother. I wasnt fully aware of the dangers and should have been. It was a very traumatic and expensive mistake.

Based on the first hand experience with this clinic, the doctor and their office manager ,the only thing they care is the money with no respect to the customer and his concerns and opinions. After coming to them with our Dachshund, Buffy who had stomach pain they were unable to find anything and were unable to help her - instead, they ambushed the customer with the list of not needed services theyre "rendering" without giving the warning that this will result in hundreds of dollars worth of bill. When I called to file the complaint and express our concerns about their lack of real treatment or at least proper diagnosis I was given "we are professionals and we can do what we think is good" and you just need to pay for this. When my wife was buying a pill next day, the doctor asked her to come in to his office and REPRIMANDED her, saying our complaint was RUDE. Next day I was told "good luck with my formal actions" I planned to follow with their response to my initial call. NOT ACCEPTABLE business practices instead of a professional help the dog need.

As a pet owner, and an animal lover, I have never had a better experience with veterinary center. EVER! The people that work there, from the front desk, to the technicians in the back, one can tell instantly that this staff isnt just there for a paycheck, but that they are also animal advocates. From the office manager to the front desk staff, particularly Linda, one can easily see that they too genuinely care about your pets. Dr. Smith is amazing. Period! My dog is everything to my wife and I. We are very particular about everyone who cares for and interacts with her. Dr. Smith has an incredibly calming effect on our dog. Which is rare. He doesnt look for ways to generate revenue, he tries to figure out solutions to resolve issues, find solutions to problems, and make the animal feel secure. In fact, my dog is never nervous or afraid to visit the doctor. Not only do I recommend, in the strongest possible way, you take your pets there, but I encourage anyone who loves their pet to do so.

First of all, I am not the type of person that does online reviews, but my experience with Dr. Dave Smith at the Sarasota Veterinary Center needs to be known. My Min Pin was treated like family and Dr. Dave was very thorough with his explanation and recommendations to get my best friend back on track. His compassionate and caring demeanor is obvious the minute we started explaining the symptoms. I was also very impressed with the smell, (or lack of I should say) of the exam room. I was fresh and clean unlike other vets I have been to in the past. Thank You Dr. Dave for providing a GREAT service in the Sarasota community!

I cant agree that the service in this place is of value. The "Vet techs" were smoking marihuana in the parking lot. Angelina was the girl that tend to me and my Saint Bernard , not only was she rude, but she also seem spaced out. I was concerned of leaving my dog there, but I will assure you this...After coming across this picture, I will not be coming back to this place. You can see for yourself, the level of professionalism is Non existent

On vacation in Sarasota when my Bouvier exhibited scary symptoms from his back end. Called about 10 a.m. and gave them my dogs symptoms. They said they didnt have an appointment that day and there was nothing they could do until tomorrow. I called another clinic and they said bring him over, "well see him right away". Thank goodness. It was an emergency and hes fine now. I know Im not a regular client, but an emergency is an emergency.

Extreamly rude staff very unprofessional, was on hold for way to long every time I call. When my dog had to get eye surgery, they "forgot" to call me and update me on my dog. But I gave them the benifit of the doubt and took him back, nothing changed. Desk girls are extreamly rude, always have been to me. Will definitely not take my dog back here and wouldnt reccomend anyone too.

We had a very bad experience with this vet center. We had boarded our dog for 2 weeks, he came back with a full blown ear infection. We spoke to the office manager Karen, and she refused to waive the office fee for this infection. I think its very unprofessional and most vets agreed with me. I was willing to pay for medicines and other care. Wouldnt recommend to anyone!!
