RANT... Eye Center of St Augustine. The staff and everyone there that did my cataract surgery in October are wonderful... My issue is the $750.00 refund they owe me. My insurance paid for everything but they insisted I pay a portion upfront, right away or they could not do surgery. Well on January 20th I was told it could take at least 4 weeks to receive my refund. I called again today and now billing is telling me anywhere from 30 to 60 days before a check can be issued. Really!!!! They had my money since October and my insurance paid them right away. The person that has to issue the checks has a bunch of them ahead of me... Wow... so this must be standard practice. Thats all... I am discussed.

The staff and doctors are so nice; however, getting ahold of anyone, particularly in billing, is often impossible. Goes straight to voicemail, and messages go unreturned. You are left on a wild goose chase trying to get issues resolved, and this issue is lost on management, who seem to take it with a grain of salt because they are a very busy facility and have a large customer base. Profit over good, considerate business practices, I wonder? I wonder if the doctors are even aware these front office issues have occurred.

I was on vacation in Daytona. And got something in my eye. This office got me in within an hour. Deanna in the front office was so understanding and sympathetic to my situation. Then doctor Hockett was so awesome. He got the foreign object out of my eye then patched me up with very little pain. They took my insurance and saved my vacation. I cant thank them enough for everything they did for me. I would totally recommend this office and doctors hands down.

Although I really like the staff and the doctor, their phone system needs a complete overhaul. Their location needs to be updated. Why I only gave them one star is because I was charged a second office visit ($120) when I only needed to tell the doctor what contacts I wanted to purchase. I tried to go to the office and they were too busy to deal with it.

Good thing they are not an urgent care facility. Leave a message and maybe just maybe you will get a response back. The only time they have actually returned my phone calls is when I threatened them I would take my business else where. Staff is nice, but there phone system is to be desired.

Doctors are great, the billing department needs to learn how to properly bill an account. We went today and were giving a 322.+ bill, I said why didnt you send it to us. The staff just looked at me, we will not be going back.
